Geno Smith has signed with Jay-Z's Roc Nation for his representation.
He'll be represented by Kim Miale. According to USA Today's Mike Garofolo, Miale's only two other clients are K Carlos Martinez and LB Brandon Hicks. Neither has ever appeared in an NFL game. Smith insists his decision to align with the neophyte agency is not an "image thing."

Jets OC Marty Mornhinweg says the quarterback competition between Geno Smith and Mark Sanchez may be over before training camp.
"Oh, absolutely," Mornhinweg said when asked if a winner could be determined in OTAs. "Sure. Absolutely. That's all part of the process. Everything we do is important. Our meetings are important… the way we go about our meetings, the way we go about our preparation right now with a new system. These are very important things. Every pass we throw out there in OTAs and these practices are important." Mornhinweg noted that the longer the competition drags out, the less reps the possible starter gets with the first-team offense since they'd be equally splitting them until a winner is named. The Jets wrap up OTAs and mandatory minicamp on June 13.

ESPN New York considers Geno Smith the heavy favorite to win the Jets' quarterback competition.
Reporter Rich Cimini believes Smith will beat out Mark Sanchez as long as he "proves capable of running the offense." The more intriguing question is whether the Jets prefer Sanchez or Greg McElroy to be Smith's backup. Sanchez needs Smith to have a horrid camp to be guaranteed a roster spot. Otherwise, we believe new GM John Idzik has the stones to cut Sanchez loose despite his fully guaranteed $8.5 million salary.

OC Marty Mornhinweg insists the Jets are having a "bona fide quarterback competition."
"I am hoping that somebody will rise to the top quicker rather than later," Mornhinweg said on a conference call with season-ticket holders. "I’ve spent quite a little bit of time just figuring out the exact reps for each player and that will be dictated on how they’ve done in the prior practice or practices as well." The Jets can insist they're having an open competition all they want, but most signs suggest Geno Smith would start and be backed up by David Garrard in their ideal scenario. That leaves Mark Sanchez off the roster. There will be plenty to write about in Jets camp.

The Jets don't expect Santonio Holmes (foot) to participate in June's mandatory minicamp.
It's not a surprise, as Holmes is still considered iffy for the beginning of training camp after going down last September. Holmes' injury was serious, but he doesn't seem to be rehabbing with a sense of urgency, instead taking classes at Ohio State. This is a marriage both sides appear keen to end. They almost certainly will in 2014.

Stephen Hill has sat out the Jets' first two OTAs sessions with swelling in his surgically-repaired right knee.
Hill declared himself "100 percent" earlier this month, but that's not the case. Recovering from an operation to repair his LCL, Hill needs as many offseason reps as possible after being utterly lost for the majority of his rookie campaign. He's not off to a good start.
