Speaking Monday, coach Pete Carroll strongly denied rumors that he changed out of a run to a pass on the Seahawks' final play of the Super Bowl.
Some conspiracy theories have surfaced suggesting Carroll wanted golden boy Russell Wilson to be the hero, not crotch-grabbing Marshawn Lynch. That's a silly thought in any game, let alone the Super Bowl. Carroll said he knew the Seahawks would have to throw at least once in the goal-line sequence given the time remaining and their timeout situation. "When [the Patriots] sent their goal-line guys in, I know we have the advantage on the matchups in the passing game." Most of the free world would've tried to run it in on second down. But goal-line interceptions are extremely rare -- there had been zero from the one-yard line all season until Wilson was picked by Malcolm Butler. Tue, Feb 3, 2015 08:48:00 AM
