Vikings selected Florida State CB Xavier Rhodes with the No. 25 overall pick.
Rhodes (6-foot-1 1/2, 210) is a physical, long-armed (33 3/4") press corner who ran 4.43 at the Combine with a tremendous 40.5-inch vertical and 11-foot broad jump. A 38-game starter for the 'Noles, Rhodes tallied eight career INTs and seven tackles for loss. Rhodes displays loose hips, quick feet, ample recovery speed, and standout ball skills on tape. Consistency and technique were sometimes issues, but Rhodes' overall game is reminiscent of Aqib Talib. The former receiver is very aggressive and could start opposite Josh Robinson or Chris Cook in 2013.

Coach Mike Munchak says the Titans are in pursuit of a true press corner who can get physical with wide receivers at the line of scrimmage.
The Titans face Andre Johnson, Reggie Wayne, and Justin Blackmon twice per year in the AFC South. "We’ll definitely look at a corner ... that has those kinds of abilities," said Munchak. "That can get up in your face and play a little more man to man." While the logical connection might be Florida State's Xavier Rhodes, press corners are often found in the draft's mid to late rounds.

The New Orleans Times-Picayune considers Florida State CB Xavier Rhodes "a very realistic option" for the Saints at No. 15.
The Saints actively pursued cornerbacks even after signing Keenan Lewis -- namely, Nnamdi Asomugha and Tracy Porter -- and are emphasizing physical press-man corners under new coordinator Rob Ryan. They've soured on former first-round pick Patrick Robinson, while Ryan may not view Jabari Greer as a scheme fit. We still think it'd be tough for New Orleans to pass on Jarvis Jones.

The Dolphins reportedly believe Florida State CB Xavier Rhodes would be a poor fit for their defensive scheme.
Rhodes was a popular early mock draft pick for the Fins at No. 12, but he is a press-man corner and Miami runs zone. If the Dolphins sit tight at 12 -- which seems like a long shot anyway -- they'd be more likely to consider West Virginia's Tavon Austin, Notre Dame's Tyler Eifert, or even pass-rush help than Rhodes.

GM Rick Spielman gives Christian Ponder "just as much credit for getting us in the playoffs" as Adrian Peterson.
Spielman was referring specifically to Ponder's play when the Vikings won their final four games of the regular season. During that time, he completed 60.6 percent of his passes and threw just one interception, but averaged a mere 157.5 yards per game and totaled four passing scores. These comments are another case of Spielman trying to pump up Ponder's confidence. He's ready to ride or die with his 2011 No. 12 overall pick.

Adrian Peterson said his goal for this season is to run for 2,500 yards.
Peterson rumbled for 2,097 last season even though he was coming off a knee reconstruction and playing through a sports hernia. In order to reach 2,500 yards, he'd need to average 156.25 yards per day over 16 games. It's not going to happen, but Peterson is set up for another run at Eric Dickerson's single-season record of 2,105 yards. Lead-blocker Jerome Felton and mauling tackle Phil Loadholt are both back and Peterson will be 21 months removed from his ACL tear by the time Week 1 rolls around.

Vikings WR Greg Childs (torn patellar tendons) has resumed sprinting and cutting.
"All the necessary things I need to be doing, I'm doing now," Childs said. "I still do my cuts and my runs full speed. There is no change in the way I run or the way I play. My routes are still the same." Despite the progress, Childs admits he's not close to 100 percent. The Vikings are operating under the assumption Childs "may never play a meaningful down in the NFL." So should fantasy owners.
