Chiefs selected Central Michigan LT Eric Fisher with the No. 1 overall pick.
Fisher (6-foot-7 1/4, 306) made 34 career starts for the Chippewas, including 28 at left tackle. With superior size, length (34 1/2" arms), and athleticism to Luke Joeckel, the Chiefs determined Fisher -- despite his smaller-school background -- was this year's premier left tackle prospect. At the Combine, Fisher ran 5.05 with a 1.70 ten-yard split, pumped 27 reps on the bench, and scored 23 on the Wonderlic. He'll protect Alex Smith's blindside as a rookie. Look for Branden Albert to be traded Friday, probably to the Dolphins.

CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports the Chiefs have not informed Central Michigan LT Eric Fisher that he will be the top pick, but they intend to take him.
La Canfora adds there is a "slight chance" of a trade, but the evidence is overwhelming at this point that Fisher is the guy. The highest a MAC player has ever been drafted is Byron Leftwich at No. 7 overall to the Jaguars in 2003. Fisher will best that on Thursday night. He's a lock to be selected in the top five.

A source with knowledge of the team's plans tells Profootballtalk the Chiefs will select Central Michigan LT Eric Fisher with the No. 1 pick.
This report mercifully avoids the semantics of who's been "informed" of what. There will undoubtedly be more conflicting reports between now and when Commissioner Roger Goodell steps to the podium to announce Kansas City's pick, but the evidence that Fisher will go ahead of Texas A&M's Luke Joeckel has become overwhelming.

ESPN's Ed Werder confirms there's "a growing sense" the Chiefs will select Central Michigan LT Eric Fisher at No. 1 overall.
Kansas City hasn't stopped fielding calls for the draft's top selection, but it's likely to be Fisher if they stand pat. And stand pat we expect them to do with a Branden Albert-to-Miami trade in the works. The Dolphins deal doesn't necessarily have to be completed until Friday, because the sides are discussing second-round picks. Only the first round will take place Thursday night.

Chiefs RB Shaun Draughn is missing OTAs due to a sports hernia.
There's no word on whether Draughn underwent surgery. A third-year UDFA out of North Carolina, Draughn was serviceable in the Jamaal Charles backup role last season, but will be guaranteed nothing under the new Kansas City regime. He can't afford to miss much time after Knile Davis was drafted in the third round.

Chiefs placed WR Terrance Copper (knee) on season-ending injured reserve and signed WR Junior Hemingway from the practice squad.
Copper, 31 in March, caught eight passes for 79 yards on the season, but he holds more value to the Chiefs as a special teams player. He's under contract for $840,000 in 2013. Hemingway was taken in the seventh round of this past year's draft out of Michigan.

The Chiefs thought Moeaki might be ready by now, but predictably, he's not. He does remain on track to be ready for training camp. Going into the final year of his rookie contract, the Chiefs have greased the skids for Moeaki's departure after signing Anthony Fasano and drafting Travis Kelce.
