Savard is under contract through 2016-17 at an annual average salary of just a little over $4 million. The Bruins may not have to place him on long-term injured reserve to start the season though. "We've got a lot of flexibility this year," said GM Peter Chiarelli. "Do I suspect we'll use Savard's LTI? It depends. [Owner Jeremy] Jacobs has allowed us to pursue those types of players. It was Marchand's first goal of the playoffs after he was unable to find the back of the net in the seven game series against Toronto in the opening round. He also picked up his fourth assist in the playoffs as he helped set up the tying goal by Torey Krug early in the third period on the power play. Boychuk also sent himself into the boards awkwardly while looking to deliver a big hit and appeared to be in pain on the bench, but he stayed in the game after flexing out his shoulder. He ended up with 26:55 of ice time and a minus-2 rating in Game 1's 3-2 victory to go with his six hits, four blocks and five shots. May 17 |
| 6 | Adam McQuaid ActiveAdam McQuaid has been named a finalist for the Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy. The award goes to the "player who best exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship and dedication to hockey." He underwent two surgeries in September because of Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, which caused blood clots to form in his neck and shoulder. The ailment was expected to sidelined him for the season, but he returned for the Bruins' regular-season opener once the lockout was settled. May 14 |

Bartkowski, in only his 23rd game, found the net and also had three shots on goal. Bruins coach Claude Julien was happy how his young defensemen, Bartkowski and Dougie Hamilton, played. "You have to find a way to give credit to those two young guys on the back end —Hamilton and obviously Bartkowski," Julien said. "Bartkowski was moving the puck and carrying it so well tonight, and he scored a big goal for us. I saw Dougie Hamilton get more and more comfortable as the game went on as far as carrying the puck and making plays. You talk about people coming in, well we were minus three real good veterans in our back end, so that’s half your core, and those guys come in and do a heck of a job. May 14 |

He tossed 6'7" Brian Boyle into the net during Thursday's overtime win against the Rangers and did not back down from any of the larger New York players. "He’s got a good frame and a good base and he’s strong for his size, so it really doesn’t surprise me that he’s able to stand in there and toss (Rangers forward Brian) Boyle into the net". Rask is now 5-3 in the playoffs with a 2.36 GAA and a .926 save percentage in the 2013 playoffs. He gave up a goal to Ryan McDonagh with two seconds left in the second and then gave up a goal 14 seconds into the third stanza as Derek Stepan beat him with a snap shot but he was perfect after that to lead the Bruins to the victory. Tuukka Rask was beaten three times on 14 shots in relief after starting back-to-back games for the Bruins over the weekend.
