Adam McQuaid could play a bigger role on the Boston blueline than he has in the past.
First off, the rugged rearguard is healthy for the first time in a long time. Secondly, Boston coach Claude Julien seems inclined to spread playing time more evenly amongst the six defencemen he ices on a nightly basis. As a result of this new philosophy, McQuaid has averaged a team-high 21:47 in ice time in the Bruins' first two games. Julien is obviously a fan of McQuaid. "We all know that when he's healthy, he's a pretty good player, probably underrated," Julien said. "He's big, he's strong. He makes those good little plays in tight areas sometimes where you see some D's just rim it away and he'll make some good plays. When he plays with lots of confidence, he's a smart player and he's able to take some of those responsibilities." Despite registering an assist against Detroit Thursday, McQuaid has fantasy value only if your pool values penalty minutes. Oct 11 - 8:27 AM
