| Pos | Role | Name |
| C | 1 | Jason Spezza ActiveJason Spezza reported no ill effects after playing in his first game in Sunday since having back surgery. "I feel good," Spezza said Monday. "To play a double-overtime game and coming out no worse for wear is definitely positive for me and encouraging that I made the right decision [to play]. I took a pretty good pounding and played more than we had initially planned, but it's all positive and I hope to get even better as we go on." He was nailed on a big hit from Pittsburgh's Craig Adams in the first overtime session, which proved to be a good test. May 20 |
Kyle Turris ActiveKyle Turris potted his team-leading fifth goal of the postseason in Wednesday's 7-3 loss to Pittsburgh. His tally gave the Senators a 2-1 lead after the first period, the Penguins poured it on in the next two frames to put Ottawa on the brink of elimination. Turris has five goals and seven points in nine playoff contests after he recorded 12 markers and 29 points during 48 regular season games. May 23
Mika Zibanejad ActiveMika Zibanejad helped spark Ottawa's comeback win in Game 4 with his first NHL playoff goal at the 11:55 mark of the third period. Zibanejad redirected the puck into the net off his skate and the play held up as a goal after a lengthy review. He didn't have a point in his previous two postseason matches after getting two assists in Game 1. May 8
Zack Smith ActiveZack Smith opened the scoring in Game 5 Thursday night. His first career postseason goal came just over two minutes into the opening period on a juicy rebound in front of Montreal starter Peter Budaj. Smith was credited with nine hits and 15 penalty minutes (all of which came in one game) in Ottawa's first-round series. May 10
Peter Regin ActivePeter Regin returned to Ottawa's lineup Monday night from a chest injury. He doesn't have a goal in 13 games this season, but tallied the game-winning marker in the fifth round of the shootout to give the Senators a 2-1 win over Montreal. Regin has 22 shots and two assists on the year. Feb 26
Jean-Gabriel Pageau ActiveJean-Gabriel Pageau scored for the Senators in their 4-3 loss in Game 2 of their second-round series with the Penguins on Friday night. The coming out party continues for the 5-foot-9 winger who now has four goals and two helpers in seven playoff games. Kyle Turris notched a power-play goal and Colin Greening had the other marker. Chris Neil had four penalty minuets, a game-high six hits and a helper. Ottawa needs to figure out a way to hold on to pucks longer and sustain pressure or this will be a very short series for them. The upside is that this is a team that has brushed aside adversity the entire season. May 17
Mike Hoffman SidelinedMike Hoffman re-injured his collarbone last week and will be out indefinitely. Hoffman broke his collarbone earlier in the year while playing in the minors. He missed two months with the injury, but it's not clear yet whether Hoffman simply aggravated the injury or fractured the bone again. Either way, it sounds like it'll be a long time before Hoffman is back on the ice. Apr 12
| LW | 1 | Milan Michalek ActiveMilan Michalek scored in Wednesday's 7-3 loss to Pittsburgh for the first time since Game 2 of the opening round against Montreal. He busted through the Penguins' defense to score a shorthanded marker early in the first period. Michalek has two points in last two games and four in nine total playoff outings. May 23 |
Cory Conacher ActiveCory Conacher is likely to be scratched by the Ottawa Senators on Wednesday night when they host Pittsburgh in Game 4. He posted a minus-1 rating and had no shots in 13:22 of ice time in Sunday's double-overtime victory. It is expected that Mark Stone will take his place in the lineup. May 22
Guillaume Latendresse ActiveGuillaume Latendresse will be back in the Senators' lineup for Game 2 on Friday. Latendresse hasn't played since May 3. He had six goals and 10 points in 27 games in 2012-13. May 17
Colin Greening ActiveColin Greening is using his big frame and speed to success against Pittsburgh in the second round of the playoffs. He has scored a goal in each of his past three games versus the Penguins going into Wednesday night's match-up. "If my skating is on, everything else falls into place," Greening said. "I want to pride myself on being a player that can play in the playoffs." Greening, Erik Condra and Jean-Gabriel Pageau has arguably been Ottawa's best line in the series so far. May 22
Jim O'Brien ActiveJim O'Brien scored the only Ottawa goal in a 2-1 overtime loss to the Bruins Thursday night. The power play marker was the fifth of the campaign for O'Brien, a figure that amazingly leads all Ottawa forwards and stands only one tally behind the injured Erik Karlsson for the team lead. Kaspars Daugavins and Zack Smith drew assists on the goal. Feb 28
Matt Kassian ActiveMatt Kassian is a healthy scratch for the Senators in Game 2 of their second-round series with the Penguins. The 26-year-old played in Game 1, getting 9:42 of ice time and a shot on goal. Guillaume Latendresse, who has played in two playoff games this year, gets the chance in Kassian's place. May 17
| RW | 1 | Daniel Alfredsson ActiveDaniel Alfredsson feels his comment about the Senators not being able to rally from a 3-1 series deficit against Pittsburgh was taken out of context. "Maybe I should have continued right away where I left off in my answer," he said. "I don't doubt for one second that we'll come out with a great effort (Friday night). It sounds like I had given up. If you ask anyone and they look at our series, I don't think there are too many people that would pick us right now. That's what I meant. We're still in the playoffs. It doesn't matter to me which way it's looked at. The guys in this room know enough about me. I believe in these guys ... I'm not going to change anything in how it's said. It's obvious to me that we're in tough." Anyone who said Alfredsson had given up went a little overboard, but he clearly understands that the Senators have their backs against the wall against a talented team. May 23 |
Jakob Silfverberg ActiveJakob Silfverberg is projected to start on the second line with Kyle Turris and Daniel Alfredsson in Game 4 Wednesday night. He played there for part of Sunday's double-overtime win and he saw some shifts on Jason Spezza's line as well. Silfverberg had been seeing most of his playing time with Mika Zibanejad prior to the shuffling. He doesn't have a point in his last five games and has three points in eight playoff contests. May 22
Chris Neil ActiveChris Neil (undisclosed) practiced Tuesday and is cleared to play in Wednesday's Game 4. Neil left Sunday's Game 3 during the second overtime session, but the Sens said Tuesday that Neil could've returned if the game had gone longer. We expect he'll be in the lineup again Wednesday night as the Senators try to even the series. May 21
Erik Condra ActiveErik Condra generated a goal and two assists in Game 5's 6-1 win over Montreal. He assisted on Cory Conacher's first goal of the night and helped set up Kyle Turris' shorthanded marker in the second period. Condra scored his first goal of the playoffs on the power play late in the third period. May 10
Mark Stone ActiveMark Stone registered two shots in 11:23 of ice time for the Senators in Game 4 versus Pittsburgh. Stone hadn't played in the NHL since early March when he skated in four contests with Ottawa. He replaced Cory Conacher, who sat as a healthy scratch, in the lineup. May 23
| D | 1 | Erik Karlsson ActiveErik Karlsson collected two assists and five shots in Wednesday's 7-3 loss to Pittsburgh. The supremely talented defenseman had been struggling in his previous three matches against the Penguins in the series. Going into Wednesday's contest, Karlsson had no points, eight shots, six penalty minutes and a minus-4 rating after he looked very good versus Montreal in the first round of the playoffs. May 23 |
Sergei Gonchar ActiveSergei Gonchar and Erik Karlsson collected two assists each in Sunday's 6-1 win over Montreal. Both of them picked up a helper on Daniel Alfredsson's power-play goal in the first period. Gonchar ended up with nearly 26 minutes of ice time thanks to a shortened Senators bench, due mostly to penalties, while Karlsson played over 28 minutes. May 6
Patrick Wiercioch SidelinedThe Ottawa Senators announced on Sunday that Patrick Wiercioch remains sidelined with a lower-body injury. He played in one May 5 playoff game before leaving that game early on with this vaguely reported injury. He's been in and out of Ottawa's lineup at various points of the season, so he's obviously not a make-or-break guy at this point in his career. May 12
Chris Phillips ActiveThe Ottawa Senators are psychologically prepared to face the Pittsburgh Penguins in the second round of the NHL's playoffs, veteran defenseman Chris Phillips says. The Penguins earned the right to meet the Sens by eliminating the New York Islanders Saturday night with a 4-3 overtime victory. "It would be a tough series (against Pittsburtgh)," Phillips said, "but yeah, we welcome the challenge. We've played them a few times (over) the last years, and I would expect no different ... a lot of energy and an exciting series." May 12
Jared Cowen ActiveJared Cowen collected an assist in Ottawa's Game 1 loss to Pittsburgh Tuesday night. He didn't have a strong showing defensively though, as he inadvertently deflected a shot from Paul Martin into his own net 2:41 into the game while trying to kill a penalty. Cowen also turned the puck over deep in his own zone and then lost Evgeni Malkin in front of the net for the Penguins' second goal of the contest. Pittsburgh opened Round 2 with a 4-1 win over the Senators. May 15
Marc Methot ActiveThe Senators realize shutting down the Penguins' top offensive players is easier said than done. The key is to play smart and controlled. "People need to know when you’re playing against great players, it’s not always easy to be physical," Marc Methot said. "They’re good for a reason. They don’t put themselves in vulnerable positions where they’ll get hit. It’s going to be tough. The biggest thing is to stay tight in our own end and not get running around in our own end where they thrive." May 14
Mike Lundin ActiveMike Lundin (concussion) was activated off injured reserve and played 17 minutes against the Boston Bruins on Thursday. Lundin had missed the past eight games with the head injury, although his return is unlikely to affect many fantasy lineups. Lundin finished Thursday's game with three blocked shots and an even rating. Mar 22
Andre Benoit ActiveAndre Benoit picked up an assist Wednesday night. In four playoff appearances with Ottawa, he has contributed three helpers. Benoit also owns a plus-4 rating while seeing nearly 16 minutes of ice time per game. May 23
Eric Gryba SidelinedEric Gryba (upper body) won't play in Game 4, but he did return to practice with his teammates on Wednesday. Wednesday's session marked his first appearance back on the ice since he violently collided with Pittsburgh defenseman Brooks Orpik in Game 1 on May 14. May 22
| G | 1 | Craig Anderson ActiveObviously, Craig Anderson will be between the pipes for Ottawa Friday night in Game 5 at Pittsburgh. He allowed six goals on 38 shots in a 7-3 loss to the Penguins on Wednesday night and was pulled for the second time in the series, but he was excellent in the first period and helped the Senators steal Game 3 in double overtime. Coach Paul MacLean said there was no question in his mind that Anderson would play in Game 5. Ottawa will attempt to avoid playoff elimination in the contest. May 23 |
Robin Lehner ActiveRobin Lehner was excellent Sunday as he stopped 34 of 36 shots en route to a 4-2 win over the Bruins. Lehner will certainly find himself on the bench once the playoffs begin, but his talent is obvious and the Senators have an embarrassment of riches between the pipes. With the victory Ottawa jumps to seventh place in the Eastern Conference and the Sens will take on Montreal in the opening round of the playoffs. Apr 28
