Backup goalie Cameron Talbot turned in a gem Wednesday night, sparking the New York Rangers to a 2-0 shutout victory over the visiting Philadelphia Flyers.
Talbot, playing his sixth game of the season because the Rangers gave first-stringer Henrik Lundqvist the night off, had what was easily his best game of the season, kicking aside all 31 of Philly's shots, five of which were fired by Jakub Voracek. Talbot's goals-against average improved to 2.70. His save percentage is now .908. The shutout was Talbot's first win of the season. It was his first shutout since a 26-save, 5-0 victory against the Edmonton Oilers on March 30, 2014. Talbot's record this season is 1-2-1. The Rangers, who will face the Buffalo Sabres on the road Friday, snapped a three-game losing streak. The Flyers now have lost three straight. Nov 19 - 10:49 PM
