The Chicago Blackhawks are looking to sign former first round pick Kevin Hayes in the off-season.
Hayes was selected with the 24th pick in the 2010 draft and spent four seasons with Boston College. He became a left winger this past season after three years at center and responded with a 27 goal and 65 point season in 40 games after picking up only 17 goals and 50 assists in his first three college seasons which spanned 102 games. "He's 22 years old, so he's not in that 19-year-old category. He may not be a guy who has to spend a long time developing. So that's the benefit of leaving a player in college for four years," GM Stan Bowman said. "He's got a lot of talent.

He played his first three years as center and this last year he was on the wing. It's certainly nice to see him be able to do both. He's got the combination of size and skill and that's hard to find." His brother Jimmy was a member of the Blackhawks organization before he was dealt to Florida in the Kris Versteeg deal in November. Jun 7 - 7:26 AM
