Note to fantasy leaguers: There is offense that exists within Rickard Rakell and it is just a matter of time before it starts to take root on the scoresheet.
Rakell has just one assist in his first 15 NHL games, 11 of which have come this season. He has handled fourth-line center duty in most of those games, meaning he was focused on preventing goals by opponents instead of scoring them himself. But the Ducks are giving him a few looks late in this 2013-14 season because they know there's a lot more in their 2011 first-round pick that they're eager to tap into. Rakell, 20, has a high level of skill and the club envisions him as a two-way player who could force his way into the top six down the line. At the time of his recall from Norfolk (Va.) of the American Hockey League, the Swede had 14 goals and 37 points in 46 games. "We think he’s a really good player," Ducks coach Bruce Boudreau said. "The only thing that he hasn’t had is the experience in game time. We think he’s been snake bit a little bit. He's had good opportunities to score every game." Mar 29 - 9:06 AM
