Kelly had been woeful offensively all season, but he's starting to produce in the Stanley Cup Finals. Goals have been hard to come by in the past two games, so getting a point in consecutive contests is something worth mentioning right now. Kelly also won eight of his 11 faceoffs in the match. Savard is under contract through 2016-17 at an annual average salary of just a little over $4 million. The Bruins may not have to place him on long-term injured reserve to start the season though. "We've got a lot of flexibility this year," said GM Peter Chiarelli. "Do I suspect we'll use Savard's LTI? It depends. [Owner Jeremy] Jacobs has allowed us to pursue those types of players. Being physical is a big part of our game, and when things aren't going your way you try to get yourself into it any way that you can. For me, that’s what I was trying to do: just get physical and get in on the forecheck. It seemed like things started to happen for us after that. I've got a nice little scratch mark on my forehead from the claw marks from the ... you know ... kitty cat." Shaw and Marchand play very similar games, so it's not surprising that they collided during the Stanley Cup Finals. "There was an opportunity to win a game and get a 1-0 lead in the series, and two, three minutes later we go down 1-0," he said. "I should take a little blame for it. I should have put it in there and give the team the lead. It wasn't bouncing. I had everything like I wanted to do, except I miss-shot it. I was falling while I was shooting and I just missed the puck." Daugavins wasn't the only player to have a great chance to score in overtime, but he may have taken the loss harder than most because of his lost opportunity. Chara needed stitches after colliding with teammate Milan Lucic during warmups and there was brief concern he'd suffered a head injury during the pregame skate. The cut clearly didn't bother the Bruins' top defenseman as Chara again led Boston in minutes and again shut down Hawks star Jonathan Toews. The Bruins were outshot by the Blackhawks in the defeat and were also on the lucky end of a controversial non-goal call that waived of what would have been a Chicago tally. The Blackhawks didn't test him much and the Bruins defensemen kept Chicago's forwards to the outside much of the time, but Rask was clearly locked in from the drop of the puck. Rask also did a very good job of controlling rebounds and got a little help from the post on a Bryan Bickell shot in the final minutes of the third period.
