Malcolm Subban is hoping to show the Bruins next season that he can step up.
The Bruins took Subban with the 24th overall pick in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft and while he has potential, injuries have held him back to an extent. In addition to that, he has gotten two starts in the NHL so far and neither of them were encouraging. "My two outings weren’t very good — they were terrible, to be honest," said Subban. "I am trying to prove to everyone here that I can play, that I deserve to play, and that I want to play in the NHL." It remains to be seen who the Bruins will choose as their backup goaltender for the 2017-18 campaign, but Subban has found himself behind fellow prospect Zane McIntyre in the depth charts. McIntyre left plenty to be desired when he did play in the NHL this season, but in the AHL he outperformed Subban. It will be worth keeping an eye on Subban over the next couple seasons as those campaigns will go a long way towards determining if Subban will live up to his promise or if he will ultimately fall short of it.
