The Pittsburgh Penguins weren't comfortable with the idea of having Tristan Jarry serve as Marc-Andre Fleury's backup because they want the youngster to play regularly.
With Matt Murray on the shelf, it appeared as though Jarry would open the season as the team's backup goalie. When the team claimed Mike Condon on waivers from Montreal, they sent Jarry back to the farm. "We've had lengthy discussions about how we're going to handle this situation coming out of training camp, and we think it's in Tristan's best interest that he plays," coach Mike Sullivan said. "We're ecstatic with the training camp that he had. He played extremely well in the opportunities that he's been given. We're thrilled with the progress that he's made. Oct 11 - 7:14 PM
