Eric Black confirmed Ciaran Clark is ready to return this weekend but Kieran Richardson will remain on the side-lines.

The pair missed last weekends’ home defeat to Southampton after sustaining injuries on the eve of the match, but while Clark has been passed fit for the trip to Vicarage Road – Richardson is struggling to shake off a calf problem. "Ciaran is doing okay now," revealed Black after the defender re-joined the group in training on Thursday. "Apart from that, Kieran Richardson hasn't recovered in time from his calf injury." Micah Richards is facing a race against time to be fit for this weekend: "We will see if he is ready," said the caretaker boss.

Aston Villa's first game of its Premier League farewell tour fell right in line with the path of its season, clearly outplayed and overwhelmed, in a 4-2 loss to Southampton.

The loss is Villa's 10th Premier League defeat in a row, although the two-goal output was the club's best since its last win: a 2-0 victory against Norwich City on February 6. The only bright spot was Ashley Westwood scoring his first goals of the season, only his fourth and fifth of his Premier League career. The central midfielder found himself in the right spot on two occasions, capitalizing on a scramble in the box just before half-time while putting pressure on Saints with five minutes left to cut the lead to one from nearly the same spot in the box.

Just days after confirming Gabby Agbonlahor would be unavailable for selection due to concerns over his fitness. The Villa forward has landed himself in more hot water.

Speaking ahead of trip to Old Trafford, Eric Black revealed that Agbonlahor was "not at the level to contribute in the way he should" and the forward had agreed to be put on a two-week fitness programme. But following the clubs’ top flight relegation on Saturday, Agbonlahor was pictured partying in a London hotel with canisters of laughing gas. Following the news, Villa moved quickly and released a statement confirming his immediate suspension: "Aston Villa Football Club has today suspended Gabby Agbonlahor pending an internal investigation. This is following allegations concerning his conduct at the weekend. There will be no further comment from the Club in relation to this matter until the investigation has been completed."

Aston Villa clinched its first relegation of the Premier League era following a 1-0 loss to Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday.

Villa was last relegated in 1987 but was the clear favorite to suffer the drop for much of the season, which included three different managers and only three wins. The club's latest form may be the tell-tale sign of its mediocrity this season: nine straight Premier League losses while being outscored 25-3 and one goal in the last six. Villa couldn't manage a shot on goal until Rudy Gestede made his way onto the pitch with under 10 minutes remaining in the match. The forward seemed to give hope for an away point after seeing his tap-in blocked by Daley Blind while the subsequent corner resulted in Gestede hitting the post with a well-struck volley.

Ciaran Clark has returned to light training and Eric Black is confident the defender will be available for the visit of AFC Bournemouth this weekend.

Clark picked up a calf injury while on international duty and missed the embarrassing home defeat to Chelsea. However, caretaker boss Black revealed the 26-year-old should re-join the group later this week. With Alan Hutton suspended, Clark could partner Joleon Lescott centrally with Micah Richards moving across onto the right - Jores Okore is another option should Clark fail to recover in time. Jack Grealish and Adama Traore continue to step up their recovery from respective ankle and foot injuries by playing for the Under-21s on Monday. Grealish impressed in his 30 minute cameo last Saturday while Traore missed out due to a lack of fitness.

Aston Villa's top flight status went further down the drain today as they put in another shambolic performance, losing to Chelsea 0-4.

Aston Villa were probably never going to get a positive result today but they never put up much of a fight on both sides of the ball and have clearly lost any incentive to battle their opponents. Jordan Ayew had a couple of chances, a free kick and once from open play, when it was still somewhat of a game in the first half, but that was it from an attacking point of view. The defense crumbled with Aly Cissokho bringing down Alexandre Pato to award Chelsea a penalty and Alan Hutton getting a second yellow card to leave the Villans with ten men. The latter will miss next week's match against AFC Bournemouth, but it would hardly seem to matter for their hopes of a positive result.

Micah Richards was a notable absentee at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday as Villa lost for the 21st time in the Premier League this season.

Post-match Remi Garde revealed his skipper – who was dropped for the visit of Tottenham last weekend – had picked up a problem in training: "It is a groin injury. I don’t think (he will be out long) the doctor has told me it is a light injury." The international break will help the likes of Jack Grealish and Adama Traore be ready in time for the early kick-off in game week thirty-two as Villa attempt to salvage some shred of credibility from their season. Only two sides in the top four tiers of English football – York City (22) and Dagenham (23) – have lost more than Villa in 2015/16 although both League Two teams have played more matches making the Claret and Blues (statistically) the worst of all 92 clubs.

Brad Guzan, recently restored to the starting role, failed to punch to safety and saw the deflection go past him for the only goal.

Aston Villa have been shaking up the executive suite this week and it looks like they will have a season in the Championship to get the on-the-field product worked out. Guzan made the sort of mistake that has typified Villa's season. They played decently and didn't give Swansea an intentional shot on target but still managed to lose.

Carlos Sanchez will be available for Aston Villa tomorrow after missing two months with a hamstring injury.

The defensive midfielder will try to provide some consistency to Aston Villa's lineup but with how bad the team has played and his lack of offensive involvement, he is not a fantasy option in any league at the moment. He can remain on the waiver wire.

Nothing seems to be going right for Aston Villa after the club's latest humiliating loss, a 4-0 defeat at the hands of Manchester City's second-half scoring.

The Villa defense did well to hold City without a goal in the first half, but proceeded to concede four goals in an 18-minute stretch, including two goals from Sergio Aguero and two assists from David Silva. Brad Guzan returned for his second straight start in goal after being benched for the previous seven, but the only luck the keeper had was Sergio Aguero hitting the post on a penalty shot. Villa now sit nine points from leaving the relegation zone, which is how many points it has from wins this season, and has conceded 15 goals in the last four Prmier League matches.

Aston Villa lost yet another match, a league-leading 17th in the Premier League this season, despite a comeback effort in a 2-1 defeat to Stoke City.

Aston Villa remain bottom of the Premier League table on 16 points, still eight points away from a relegation escape. However, the side kept things close at the end thanks to Leandro Bacuna's first Premier League goal of the season. The versatile midfielder, who has started the last 13 league matches, cut Stoke City's 2-0 lead in half with a 79th-minute goal, but the club couldn't find a way to steal a point. The goal looked to be the result of a handball as second-half substitute sent a pass across the box to Bacuna, who silenced his shot past Jack Butland. Meanwhile, Micah Richards was resigned to a place on the bench as Alan Hutton returned to the lineup while Gabby Agbonlahor was deemed fit to start following a head injury.

Joleon Lescott has invited an Aston Villa fan so he can apologize to him in person after Villa were embarrassed against Liverpool this past weekend.

Villa conceded six goals against Liverpool and are still dead-last in the table. With how bad Aston Villa are at the moment, there is zero value in at any of their positions, and Lescott and company can be fully ignored in all fantasy leagues, especially since their schedule is extremely tough in the coming weeks.

Jack Grealish will be back for game week twenty-seven when Aston Villa travel to the Britannia in an attempt to keep their diminishing chances of Premier League survival alive.

Grealish missed the embarrassing 6-nil Villa Park drubbing by Liverpool on Sunday – their worst home loss in 81 years – after twisting his ankle in training last Wednesday. However, the 20-year-old was back at Bodymoor Heath with the rest of the first team squad and barring setbacks Grealish will be ready for the must win game against Stoke. Remi Garde is expected to ring the changes and is hopeful of having Carlos Sanchez, Rudy Gestede and Gabby Agbonlahor available after the Frenchman vowed to pick "11 players who will fight" in the sides’ next game.

Aston Villa were embarrassed today in a 6-0 loss to Liverpool at home.

Villa Park was certainly disappointing today after the players showed no motivation in this huge loss. Liverpool did everything they wanted to and outshot Aston Villa 9-1 when it came to shots on target. The discrepancy was obvious as Aston Villa couldn't get anything together from start to finish. They will have to make changes for next gameweek, and many players could be benched. There are no fantasy options here at the moment.

Feb 14 - 5:28 PM

Aston Villa may very well have taken the final nail today in their relegation coffin, as they were demolished in front of their home crowd with a 0-6 loss to Liverpool.

There were many empty seats at Villa Park today and the stadium's attendance only dwindled as the match wore on. The Reds attack, revitalized with the return of Daniel Sturridge, broke through the Swiss cheese defense of the Villans with ease. Mark Bunn was the unfortunate soul who watches six balls pass him by. He had done fairly well since replacing Brad Guzan, keeping three clean sheets in their previous five matches where they had conceded only three goals in total. Just when Villa looked like they might have a bit of fight in them to challenge to stay up this season, today's result pretty much books their ticket to the Championship.
