Bristol City loanee Tammy Abraham has returned to Chelsea after being ruled out for "two to three weeks" with a thigh injury.

The 19-year-old suffered the injury in Bristol City's 2-1 defeat at Leeds last week and has return to his parent club for treatment, City manager Lee Johnson has confirmed. Abraham has scored 21 goals in 21 matches for the Championship outfit this season, and will resume his season-long loan once he recovers. On the injury, Johnson told Bristol City Player HD: "It’s the best case scenario because at one point we thought it could be six to eight weeks. Tammy is hoping it’s nearer two than three weeks. Chelsea are looking after him at the moment and we’ll get him back in around a week to ten days to start getting him back on the [training pitches]."

Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois missed a television appearance in France because of illness and reports claim that the Belgium stopper is now a doubt for this weekend’s clash with Swansea.

The 24-year-old was due to appear on "Telefoot" last Sunday but the broadcasters were left fuming when Courtois cancelled at the last-minute after contracting gastroenteritis. The bug can be particularly unpleasant and symptoms normally subside within a week but The Sun newspaper claim his availability hangs in the balance due to the severe stomach virus. If Courtois fails to recover in time, then Antonio Conte will look to Asmir Begovic with Eduardo providing back-up from the bench. The Bosnian international is yet to start in the Premier League this season but he is the designated goalkeeper for all domestic cup competitions.

It looks as though we'll never get to see what Chelsea starlet Dominic Solanke is capable of at Stamford Bridge.

This comes from Chelsea manager Antonio Conte, who said he doesn't think Solanke will re-sign with the club once his contract expires in the summer. The 19-year-old is being linked with a free transfer to Liverpool and Bayern Munich, although Chelsea would receive compensation for losing an academy player, with the 19-year-old reportedly demanding £50,000-a-week in wages: "I think this is his will [to leave]," Conte said. "I have spoken with him to try to understand his will. But we must have great respect for every decision that the player can take. His contract expires in June and he has the full will to stay in Chelsea or to go away."

Cesc Fabregas and John Terry played the full 90 minutes as Chelsea defeated Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-0 in the fifth round of the FA Cup on Saturday.

Fabregas and Terry have been relegated to bench roles under Antonio Conte this season, but that didn't stop them from performing up to par at Molineux Stadium. Fabregas, making his 100th Chelsea start, controlled the game with his usual accurate passing and dominated the second half on the ball. Meanwhile, Terry captained the side and lead the Blues with four successful tackles. Speaking on the out-of-favor duo after the match, Conte praised their strong performances. "It is not easy when you don’t play a lot, and John and Cesc and all the players showed me they have good form and it means they are good professionals," Conte said. "It is great to have these type of players in my squad because I can count on them."

Second-half goals from Perdo and Diego Costa were enough for Chelsea to defeat a resilient Wolverhampton Wanderers to book their place in the FA Cup quarter-finals.

Antonio Conte made six changes to his squad that drew 1-1 with Burnley in their previous Premier League fixture, but it was first-team constants that made the difference. After a shaky first-half that saw Wolves come closest to scoring, the Blues responded with a confident second-half display. Perdo scored his 10th goal of the season to break the deadlock in the 64th minute, arriving at the far post to head home a stellar Willian delivery, before Diego Costa pounced on a loose ball in the area and swept home his finish to seal the match. The victory for Chelsea sets up an enticing quarter-finals affair with Manchester United at Stamford Bridge, marking the 12th time the sides have met in the competition and first time since 2012/13.

Chelsea travel to Wolverhampton Wanderers in the fifth round of the FA Cup but the Blues are likely to rest Brazilian centre-back David Luiz who has been managing a knee injury for the past two months.

The 29-year-old sparked concern following a social media post late on Sunday evening showing him wearing a medical gown with a picture of a syringe accompanied by the words ‘Let’s do it’. However, fears were quickly allayed by Chelsea who claim the procedure is part of ongoing treatment following the wild challenge by Sergio Aguero on December 03 which resulted in the Argentine serving a four-game ban. John Terry [ankle laceration] is rated as touch and go for the trip to Molineux which means Antonio Conte is likely to include Kurt Zouma and Nathan Ake in the starting XI while those on the fringing of the first team [Loftus-Cheek / Kenedy / Chalobah] could also feature alongside Cesc Fabregas, Michy Batshuayi and Willian.

Chelsea broke down the Burnley defense early courtesy of a Pedro goal, but the Clarets defense soon tightened, equalized and the two sides eventually settled for a 1-1 final at Turf Moor.

Chelsea put intense pressure on the hosts straight from the opening whistle and it only took until the seventh minute to score. On the counter attack, Victor Moses made a strong charge down the right and then picked out Pedro in the middle, with the latter taking a nice touch before delivering a smart finish. Burnley would equalize though midway through the first half and that was it for goals. The Blues did well in possession, putting on a passing clinic and getting themselves into the final third but Burnley matched the pace and withstood the pressure. Second half substitutes Willian, Cesc Fabregas and Michy Batshuayi were unable to help Chelsea find a winner. They still widen their lead at the top of the table with a point though, as second place Tottenham lost yesterday.

John Terry is expected to miss the trip to Turf Moor on Sunday after sustaining an ankle injury in training.

The 36-year-old has made just four Premier League starts this term due to a combination of injury and a settled back three which boasts the top flights best defensive record having only conceded 17 times during 2016/17. Terry posted a video of a nasty-looking ankle laceration being stitched which could also keep him out of next weekend’s FA Cup fifth round tie against Wolverhampton Wanderers. His absence from the bench means that Kurt Zouma will become Antonio Conte’s go to should Gary Cahill, Cesar Azpilicueta or David Luiz pick up an injury. Indeed, the Italian manager confirmed only on Friday that the Brazilian was playing with a "little pain" in his knee which the club are monitoring closely. Nathan Ake, recently recalled from his loan spell at Bournemouth, is expected to be included in the match day squad at Burnley as cover.

Antonio Conte confirmed that David Luiz has been playing through knee pain but is fit and ready for Saturday's match at Burnley.

Speaking ahead of Chelsea's trip to Turf Moor, Conte spoke about the important of Luiz. "He’s available, his fitness is good but he’s playing with a little pain in his knee,’" Conte said. "He’s a warrior and he’s playing very well, I’m pleased for him. He’s showing me a great attitude and a will to continue to fight despite the fact that sometimes he has a bit of pain." While the news that Luiz has been carrying a knock come as a surprise, Conte's affirmation of his availability for this weekend is obviously good news. The Brazilian has started and played the full 90 minutes in each of the last 20 league matches, operating on the right side of Chelsea's back three.

Eden Hazard became the first player across Europe’s top five leagues to record 100 successful take-ons this season after his 10 during Saturday's 3-0 derby victory against Arsenal.

Hazard attempted and completed all 10 of his take-ons against the Gunners, a total that was twice as many take-ons as any other player at Stamford Bridge. The Belgian's performance was highlighted by his 10th goal of the season, as he beat Laurent Koscielny twice and Francis Coquelin on the dribble before slotting a brilliant finish past Petr Cech. In addition to his notable statical achievement, Hazard completed 22 of his 27 passes in the attacking third and made nine ball recoveries. The midfield has been one of the best options in fantasy this season, and should have another successful outing when Chelsea travel to Burnley on Sunday.
Feb 6 - 7:34 PM

Chelsea answered a 3-0 defeat to Arsenal earlier in the season with a convincing 3-1 win over the Gunners.

The Blues look back on track to running away from the rest of the league with this performance today. They took the lead on 13 minutes when a header off the bar by Diego Costa allowed Marcos Alonso to head home the rebound. Thibaut Courtois was brilliant all game but made a particularly fine save of a Gabriel header late in the half, preventing the Gunners from equalizing. Early in the second frame, Eden Hazard scored one of the better goals of the season, picking the ball up in his own half and weaving his way through defenders before finishing smartly. Cesc Fabregas put the game out of reach by scoring on a lob shot after a mistake by Petr Cech. The only negative was allowing their clean sheet to be wiped out in the closing moments.

Branislav Ivanovic has joined Zenit St Petersburg for an undisclosed fee on a two-and-a-half-year deal.

While the deal had been in the works for sometime, Chelsea confirmed Ivanovic's exit on Wednesday. The 32-year-old leaves Stamford Bridge after a decorated nine-year stay, during which the Serbian international made 377 appearance for the club and won eight major trophies. Ivanovic will be best remembered for his last-gasp header that clinched the Europa League trophy in 2013, but also for his role during the club's best years. The defender won the Champions League, Premier League twice, FA Cup three times and League Cup, but had fallen out of favor this season and started just six league matches.

Chelsea missed out on a chance to further cement their lead atop the Premier League table as the Blues surrender an early lead to draw 1-1 with Liverpool at Anfield on Tuesday.

Liverpool went on the offensive in the early going, with Georginio Wijnaldum forcing a diving save from Thibaut Courtois just 11 minutes into the match. The Premier League leaders responded shortly thereafter and took the lead thanks to the dead ball capabilities of David Luiz. With Liverpool in the act of setting its set piece defense, Luiz ran up and smashed a 25-yard strike over the wall and in off the post to beat an off-guard Simon Mignolet. The second half of the gritty affair delivered more dramatics, as Liverpool equalizing through Winjaldum before Diego Costa was denied from the penalty spot by Mignolet in the 76th minute. Despite Chelsea's missed opportunity to capture all three points, the Premier League leaders still command a nine point advantage atop the table.

Nathan Ake played his first 90 minutes for Chelsea since his loan recall from Bournemouth during Sunday's 4-0 FA Cup win over Brentford.

The Dutchmen, who made 10 Premier League appearance for the Cherries this season, put in a strong shift at left-wing back before shifting into Chelsea's back three in the second half during the club's win over Brentford. After the match, Ake said he has a clear understanding of what is desired of him and how he must go about earning his keep at Stamford Bridge. "On the first day I was back, [Antonio Conte] called me into his office and explained the different positions he sees me in and what he expects from me when I play those positions," Ake said. "For him, age doesn't matter. I just have to show him I'm ready to be here and that's what I try to do in training." While the 21-year-old will face tight competition for regular starts, an injury to Conte's current first-team would likely see Ake step into the starting XI at Stamford Bridge.

Speaking at his pre-match media conference, ahead of Tuesday's match against Liverpool, Antonio Conte reiterated that a move for Asmir Begovic would only come if a new goalkeeper is brought in.

While Begovic has voiced his frustration with limited time at Stamford Bridge behind number one Thibaut Courtois, Chelsea reportedly turned down a £10 million bid from Bournemouth last week as they've been unable to secure a replacement. This stance was reinforced by Conte on Monday when he told the media there was no fresh news to report on the future of Begovic. "I haven’t news about Asmir but I think we have to wait to tomorrow and we will see the situation, "Conte said. "Asmir wants to go to play and he knows also our situation. If we are able to find a good replacement he goes, otherwise he stays with us and helps us to fight for the title." Despite the desire of Begovic to leave it seems likely he'll remain at Chelsea unless the Blues can lure Celtic to sell goalkeeper Craig Gordon, who "BBC Sports" has reported will not be sold during this transfer window.
