Gary Cahill was f I rtunate to avoid being penalized as he blocked an Arsenal shot with an extended arm in the nil-nil draw at the Emirates.

There were three potential first half penalties, two for the Blues and one for Arsenal, but none were called. There were some OK chances both ways but mostly it was a cagey affair as Chelsea again conceded possession and defended stoutly against a top challenger. The draw brings the Blues a step closer to the title.

Chelsea may have to rely on veteran striker Didier Drogba for the upcoming Premier League matches against Arsenal at the Emirates on Sunday plus the midweek trip to the King Power if the latest reports are to be believed.

The Daily Mail understands that Diego Costa has not responded as hoped to treatment and won’t be risked at the Emirates while the Spanish international is also said to be struggling for Wednesday despite the managers’ optimism during Fridays’ press-conference. With Loic Remy "out for sure" tomorrow the Frenchman may not recover in time which means Dominic Solanke will deputise. The young striker has played just 17 minutes for the first team but was withdrawn from the under-21 squad on Thursday in an effort to keep him fresh for this weekend.

Chelsea's striker situation is iffy ahead of gameweek 34 as both Didier Drogba and Loic Remy are at less than 100%.

Diego Costa is also injured and most likely will miss at least the first match of the double gameweek, and likely both. But with Remy and Drogba, things are more cloudy. Drogba is dealing with an ankle injury and is currently being assessed before this weekend' match against Arsenal while Loic Remy has missed two weeks with a calf injury and is still recovering. We wouldn't recommend playing any Chelsea striker in lineups that lock before team news are announced, and the safest Chelsea attacking option remains Eden Hazard.

Eden Hazard's first half goal powered Chelsea to a huge win over Manchester United that practically ends the title race.

Eden Hazard scored through David de Gea's legs after being set up by Oscar perfectly in the first half. The Blues played defensively for the majority of the game, which was expected when they started Kurt Zouma and Nemanja Matic in midfield. The title race is practically over now as Chelsea have a ten point lead over second place Arsenal with just six matches left. Chelsea have been in control the entire season for what is shaping up to be one of the most uneventful title races in recent history.

Loic Remy remains questionable for gameweek 33 with a calf injury.

Jose Mourinho stated today that he "doesn't know" if Remy will be fit for the derby against Manchester United this weekend but has a better than 50/50 chance. That tells us almost nothing about who will start against Manchester so we would recommend avoiding both Remy and Didier Drogba in leagues where the lineups lock at the first match. Hopefully Remy plays at least some part of this match and is then nailed on as a starter for the double gameweek coming up in week 34.
Apr 17 - 6:04 PM

Chelsea's striker situation is unclear for gameweek 33 due to Loic Remy's questionable status.

Didier Drogba started in GW32 but did not score despite playing a decent match. With Remy questionable for gameweek 33, it is difficult to predict who starts for the Blues. Remy would seem to be the preferred choice if healthy, but he could only be fit for 45 minutes, so it may be best to completely avoid the Chelsea forwards for this week. We should have a much better idea about gameweek 34.

They didn't register a shot on target until the 88th minute but it was enough as Cesc Fabregas would score to give a Chelsea side, who were not too sharp today, another three points in the 0-1 win over QPR.

This will be a result to reference after the season should Chelsea predictably seize the league title. They did not look like champions but they got the result anyway. The attack suffered with Didier Drogba leading the line but by dominating possession and not allowing Charlie Austin to beat them, the Blues were able to keep things level until the midnight hour and made good on the lone opportunity. The goal was Rob Green's fault more than anything, as he scuffed a goal kick that gave the ball right back to Chelsea as QPR had all their momentum heading the opposite way. Eden Hazard made his way into the area and fed Fabregas near the top of the box and the Spaniard sent it in low and true. Seven points clear and a game in hand, the Blues are making space in their trophy room.

Loic Remy was a surprise omission from the Chelsea squad after picking up a muscle injury during the build-up to Sundays’ derby at Loftus Road.

Remy was touted as the player to carry Chelsea to the Premier League title during the absence of Diego Costa but a kick to the calf in training on Saturday ruled the Frenchman out of GW32. Initial reports indicate the problem is only impact which should see a return for visit of Manchester United although if further tests do reveal a strain then the striker could spend weeks on the sidelines. Isaiah Brown who was in Switzerland for the under-19s [UEFA Youth League tournament] was flown back to take his place on the bench. Jose Mourinho is hoping Diego Costa will be available for the Crystal Palace game in early May.

Diego Costa is set to miss four matches with his hamstring injury.

Costa was only expected to be out for around two weeks but his hamstring injury proved to be worse than initially thought and the striker will now miss four matches. Those include games against QPR, Manchester United, Arsenal, and Leicester City. Loic Remy is expected to start in his place and is a good option for fantasy managers considering Chelsea's ability to create chances for their strikers. Costa is droppable in most formats considering he will miss half of the remaining Premier League action.

Despite being heavy favorites for the weekend, Chelsea generally struggle when facing QPR on the road so fantasy managers should slightly temper their expectations for the Blues.

As Jeremy Spitzberg noted on Twitter, Chelsea have two wins, nine draws, and seven losses at Loftus Road. That's not great, but it's also a historic statistic that doesn't take into consideration the strength of the two teams this season. Chelsea are a -285 favorite according to Las Vegas, so we expect them to win easily, but fantasy managers should temper expectations in the case QPR prove to be a tough matchup for them once again. One last note, Chelsea defeated QPR 2-1 at Stamford Bridge in November with a late Eden Hazard penalty, so it does seem like QPR provide a fairly tough matchup for the Blues.
Apr 9 - 2:35 PM

Jose Mourinho has showered Loic Remy with praise ahead of an increased role that comes as a result of Diego Costa's injury.

Costa has been ruled out for at least two weeks and Loic Remy will be the guy leading the Chelsea line in his absence. Mourinho has boosted the youngster's confidence ahead of week 32, noting that Remy has netted two match winners in the past two games. Chelsea create enough chances for their strikers to make Remy into a great fantasy option in the upcoming weeks. To top off is value, Chelsea face QPR next in what should be an easy win. Use Remy with confidence until Costa returns.

Eden Hazard was spectacular in Chelsea's 2-1 in over Stoke City.

In a very entertaining match, Chelsea came out with three points to take a seven point lead over Arsenal and a nine point lead over Manchester City. The Blues won a penalty early on; Hazard converted calmly and the Chelsea continued to dominate the match. Right before the half, Charlie Adam pulled Stoke even with a goal of the season contender from 60 yards out. The goal wasn't enough though, as Loic Remy scored late in the game to give Chelsea a 2-1 win.

Apr 4 - 2:32 PM

Diego Costa seems to have aggravated his hamstring injury and limped off the pitch during today's match against Stoke City.

Costa was limping pretty badly and couldn't continue the match so this is certainly worrisome for Chelsea. Didier Drogba replaced him since Loic Remy was already on the pitch but we would expect Remy to get the start next time out if Costa is forced to miss any games. It's worth noting Costa has had plenty of muscle problems before and it seems the only thing that helps him is rest. Expect him to miss some time.
Apr 4 - 1:48 PM

John Obi Mikel is set to miss GW31 with a knee injury despite returning to training.

Mikel has been injured for over a month now and despite returning to training, he is not fit enough to be included in the squad for this weekend's match. Jose Mourinho said the midfielder was "tired, very tired", and he'll miss out completely. He'll have a chance to return next weekend, but will not be expected to start as long as Nemanja Matic is healthy.

Apr 3 - 11:00 AM

Jose Mourinho mentioned in his press-conference earlier today that start midfielder Eden Hazard is expected to start against Stoke City tomorrow.

Hazard played two international matches in three days and Mourinho confirmed that the winger is indeed fatigued. At the same time, he also added that he "believe[s] in his ambition to play, so [he'll] start with him". Mourinho has shown he's willing to play Hazard time and time again, so we are fairly confident the Belgian starts again this weekend.
