Chelsea loanee Mohamed Salah scored a goal in Fiorentina's 2-0 win on Thursday that sent Spurs out of the Europa Cup with a 3-1 aggregate win over the North London club.

Spurs, already down an away goal, didn't generate many opportunities as they crashed out of the Europa Cup on Thursday in Italy. Mario Gomez's goal eventually proved to be more than enough for the win but Jan Vertonghen was stripped by Salah in the 71st minute and the Chelsea man scored to put the tie away. Roberto Soldado could have had a first half chance to put Spurs ahead but, befitting a man whose confidence is low, he chose to pass rather than have a shot on goal.

The FA has reduced Nemanja Matic's ban to just two matches, one less than the original three match-ban.

Chelsea are still furious with the decision as Ashley Barnes goes unpunished for his horrible challenge that caused Matic to retaliate and be sent off. This certainly helps Chelsea, as they now only have to play one Premier League game without Matic(his first match out is the Capital One Cup final). Expect Matic to come back in week 28 and use him as you normally would.

Chelsea will appeal to have Nemanja Matic's three-match ban revoked.

There is some controversy about Ashley Barnes not being punished for his challenge on Nemanja Matic and Chelsea have decided to appeal Matic's red-card. A situation similar to this one allowed West Ham goalkeeper Adrian to have a suspension overruled due to Mane committing a foul on him right before the red-card challenge. This could be a huge boost for the Blues if they can get the suspension removed since Matic has been one of their most important players this season. With Premier League matches against Southampton and West Ham coming up, this suspension alone can be a deciding factor in the title race.

Thorgan Hazard has elected to take his talents to Germany and join Borussia Monchengladbach permanently on a 5-year deal.

Hazard has been with the German team on loan this season but the sides have agreed to a permanent deal. This is yet another great move by Chelsea. The Blues acquired the talented midfielder for only €500k and have now sold him for a fee of €8m. The deal seems largely intended to help Chelsea deal with Financial Fair Play regulations as they've included a buy-back clause to make sure they can acquire Hazard back in the future if they need him. The 21-year old has been solid for Borussia Monchengladbach this season and could one day be a fantasy option if he returns to the Premier League.

Thibaut Courtois seems to be Chelsea's starting goalkeeper despite Petr Cech getting a few games in recent weeks.

Petr Cech has been fantastic when relieving Courtois earlier this month but it seems Jose Mourinho was just being safe with Courtois after his injury concern. Courtois has now started the last two Chelsea matches, including the all-important Champions League tie against Paris Saint-Germain. We would feel safe using Courtois in fantasy for now, but keep an eye out on the situation just in case something changes.

Branislav Ivanovic scored again in Chelsea's Premier League match against Burnley yesterday despite carrying a minor knock.

Ivanovic was a slight risk for the match but Mourinho decided the Serbian defender was too important to miss and played him regardless. It turned out to be the right decision as Ivanovic proved his worth once again with yet another goal. The defender plays like a midfielder most of the time and his offensive production is a great compliment to his ability to earn a clean sheet bonus. He is one of the best fantasy defenders in the game this year and should be owned in all formats.

Nemanja Matic will serve a three-match ban after getting sent off in Chelsea's 1-1 draw against Burnley.

Matic was brought down hard by Ashley Barnes and in turn got up and pushed the Burnley forward to the ground. The reaction was uncalled for despite the referee's miss of the challenge and Matic was deservedly sent off. The Chelsea anchor-man will now miss Sunday's Capital One Cup final against Tottenham and then two extremely important games versus Southampton and West Ham in gameweeks 27 and 28. John Obi Mikel will likely start in his place if he can recover from injury, and if not, Ramires will likely get the start.

Felipe Luis has recovered from his injury and will be available for selection this weekend.

Luis was dealing with an injury recently but has recovered and was on the bench in the Champions League in midweek. If Branislav Ivanovic is forced to miss the weekend match, Luis could come in and start against Burnley in what will be a terrific matchup. Jose Mourinho has avoided resting Ivanovic this year and last, but watch the starting lineups tomorrow in case he decides to be careful in what should be an easy win.

Branislav Ivanovic is carrying a minor knock and will be a risk when Chelsea face Burnley this weekend.

Chelsea are huge favorites against Burnley so it's not out of the question that Ivanovic is simply rested to avoid aggravating the injury. It's also worth noting Oscar and Willian are also dealing with minor knocks, so all could be rested in such a easy matchup. Juan Cuadrado, Eden Hazard, Cesc Fabregas, and Ramires would all benefit if any of the above were to be rested. If Ivanovic sits, Felipe Luis and Cesar Azpilicueta will work the flanks.

John Obi Mikel will miss at least two more weeks with a knee injury.

Mikel missed Chelsea's match last weekend and their midweek clash in the Champions League. It seems the knee injury is really bothering him and he'll be out of action for at least two more weeks. Cesc Fabregas started in the Champions League in Wednesday and is clearly over his injury, so he's likely to start again. Ramires could also draw another start, but we anticipate it will be Oscar or Cuadrado who take his spot this week.

John Terry wants a new 12-month deal with Chelsea.

The Chelsea defender has been spectacular for the Blues this season despite having some recent instability in the back-line. He has been great with both Gary Cahiill and Kurt Zouma next to him despite him turning 34 this past December. Terry plays a position that doesn't generally require a ton of speed and athleticism so it's very possible that he can keep this up next season. Don't be surprised if Chelsea bring him back, and if they do, he'll continue being a solid fantasy defender.

Branislav Ivanovic scored in Chelsea's 1-1 draw against Paris-Saint Germain.

Ivanovic has been on fire lately and this was yet another sign he can't be ignored in fantasy. The goal that he scored against PSG was spectacular and it came from one of the least likely ways. John Terry crossed the ball to Gary Cahill, who flicked it skillfully before Ivanovic finished with a header. Chelsea will host PSG in the second leg.
Feb 19 - 12:47 AM

Branislav Ivanovic will not be charged by the FA for an incident that occurred in Chelsea's match against Everton in midweek.

Ivanovic and James McCarthy clashed heads in the 86th minute of of the match right after Gareth Barry was sent off. Ivanovic was seen grabbing McCarthy around the neck and then head-butted him slightly. McCarthy was booked, while Ivanovic was let off easy. The Chelsea defender has been a great fantasy asset this season and managers will be happy he has avoided punishment during his crucial time of the year. Continue to employ him as you normally would.

Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech started in place of Thibaut Courtois on Wednesday and impressed with another clean sheet.

Cech has been behind Courtois on the pecking order this season but earned a start on Wednesday and was brilliant, making two incredible saves with the flick of his foot to keep the game level. Courtois has been struggling with an injury lately but also looks to have lost his confidence, and it's unclear how long Cech will have the starting job. It's worth noting Cech has five clean sheets in five Premier League games this season for an insane average of 12 fantasy points per match. We would feel safe using him against anyone if we knew ahead of time that he's guaranteed to start.

Eden Hazard has signed a new five-and-a-half-year contract with Chelsea.

Hazard: "I am very happy to sign a new contract with Chelsea. Since I came here in 2012 I have always felt good and the club has been very supportive to me. The manager has helped me improve a lot, the fans have been fantastic and I have an amazing understanding with my team-mates. I always try to give pleasure to the supporters with my style of play and it is nice to know they appreciate my work. I hope we can repay that support by winning lots of trophies, beginning with the Capital One Cup at Wembley, and after that, we can push hard towards the end of the season." The Belgian arrived at Stamford Bridge in 2012 and has since made a total 147 appearances for the Blues, scoring 43 goals.
