News broke on Wednesday that Spanish international Diego Costa suffered a muscular problem in training with various outlets reporting his period of absence to be anything from four weeks to three months.

The reality of the situation is unclear - we simply do not know - as the full extent of the injury is not yet known and to suggest anything different at this moment is pure speculation. On Thursday morning Chelsea released an official statement advising Diego Costa "suffered a minor muscular injury" and that the club will be monitoring him over the next few days. Given his recent well-documented injuries it’s almost certain that the striker will miss the trip to Goodison on Saturday; Costa did not train with the squad today but has not yet been ruled out of the Everton match. Any significant damage could potentially scupper a loan departure for Fernando Torres for whom a move to Serie A side AC Milan has been reportedly agreed.

Italian giants AC Milan are reportedly interested in Chelsea striker Fernando Torres.

Torres is surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge at the moment with Diego Costa and Didier Drogba in front of him and Chelsea may want to get back some of the money they paid for him. The Spanish striker hasn't been the same since coming to Chelsea but still has a few years left of football for him and has the potential to be a goal scorer once again. Milan are also interested in Marco van Ginkel, although Chelsea are unlikely to sell him.

Leicester City were game opponents but Diego Costa and Eden Hazard scored as Chelsea cruised to victory at Stamford Bridge in Week 2.

Kasper Schmeichel did his best to keep his team in it but his opposite number, Thibault Courtois, was just as impressive and eventually Chelsea's talent was just too much for Son-of-Peter. Diego Costa (sort of) controlled a centered Branislav Ivanovic pass with his chest and had enough time to power it past Schmeichel for the opener. Eden Hazard scored on a brilliant piece of individual effort to seal the win for Chelsea. Ivanovic was impressive going forward all day and unlucky not to get more tangible statistics for his efforts.

Chelsea midfielder Ramires will return from a suspension and be available for selection for Chelsea's match against Leicester tomorrow.

Ramires returns from his suspension, which started at the end of last season, but isn't likely to start. Chelsea have brought in Cesc Fabregas to play Ramires' role from last season and Fabregas was fantastic in Chelsea's first match. Ramires will be used off the bench this year so it's unlikely he turns into a good fantasy option in any format.

Chelsea captain John Terry is our top defensive pick for Week 2 of the Yahoo Fantasy Premier League game.

He wasn't on the score-sheet at Burnley - that was left to Branislav Ivanovic - but Terry is our preference from the Chelsea defence for the Leicester match. Picking him up won't come cheap, but it could prove a worthwhile acquisition when you consider the high probability of a clean sheet against Leicester, and the chance of a goal from a set piece.

Chelsea's Cesc Fabregas is the top midfield pick for Week 2 of the Yahoo Fantasy Premier League game.

Seriously, how good was Fabregas against Burnley on Monday night? The midfielder has slotted straight in to the Chelsea side, looks like he'll be at the heart of everything for Mourinho and was whipping in some quality corners, so you must find a way to get him in your side ahead of the Leicester game.

Diego Costa is the top striker pick for Week 2 of the Yahoo Fantasy Premier League game.

The striker would've been the top striker pick of the week at £12million. At £5.26million in the Yahoo game you should buy him, place him in your starting XI, forget about that slot until May 2015 and watch the fantasy points roll in. The very definition of a season-keeper and surely set to score well against Leicester.

Thibaut Courtois is the top goalkeeper pick for Week 2 of the Yahoo Fantasy Premier League game.

As you may or may not be aware, an issue in the Yahoo database on Saturday led to Courtois, Diego Costa and Alexis Sanchez dropping in price to just to £5.01million . To ensure fairness for all fantasy managers, the price of these players has been dropped down to below £6million ahead of the Week 2 deadline. Provided you're confident Courtois will remain Chelsea's number one goalkeeper then it's wise to grab him at that price while you can, plus he has a home game against Leicester.
Aug 22 - 4:24 AM

Thibaut Courtois has won the goalkeeper battle at Chelsea and he played well in the Blues' first match of the season.

Courtois is a fantastic young goalkeeper who just beat Petr Cech to the starting job. The young Belgian keeper has called upon Cech to stay at Chelsea. Petr Cech is still of fantastic quality but it's unknown if he'll remain at the club as a backup, especially considering the fact that top European clubs will be after his services. Regardless of Cech's choice, Courtois seems to be booked on as the number one goalkeeper at Chelsea and should be great fantasy value playing behind the Premier League's best defense.

Andre Schurrle started and played spectacularly in Chelsea's win over Burnley yesterday.

Schurrle had an amazing World Cup, winning the trophy with Germany, and has taken his form to the Premier League. Chelsea played really well with Cesc Fabregas organizing the attack from the middle and that allowed Eden Hazard and Andre Schurrle to make great runs down the flanks. One of those runs resulted in a brilliant goal for Schurrle. The German winger can score and create chances for his teammates and seems like the number one choice at right-wing this year. Willian will certainly get playing time but we'd feel safe about using Schurrle in fantasy.

Branislav Ivanovic was as solid as ever in Chelsea's 3-1 win over Burnley today.

Ivanovic topped his performance with a goal when he finished a Cesc Fabregas corner with ease. He was also solid on defense, as Chelsea only allowed one goal on a John Terry mistake early in the first half. The Blues did look a little suspect on defense at times but Mourinho has proven his ability to organize a defense well and all major pieces from the Premier League's best defensive unit are still at Stamford Bridge. Ivanovic looks like a solid fantasy choice once again this year.
Aug 18 - 11:27 PM

Cesc Fabregas was solid in every phase of the game and his two assists were key to Chelsea's 1-3 win over Burnley.

Fabregas put on a passing clinic and displayed world class vision all game long. His touch pass to a sprinting Andre Schurrle led to the game winner and he also provided the corner kick that Branislov Ivanovic headed home to ice the result. He may not be playing as far forward as fantasy managers tend to want in their midfield prospects, but like Yaya Toure, Steven Gerrard or Frank Lampard have shown in recent seasons, you don't always need a heat map to evaluate a fantasy stud.

Didier Drogba remains questionable for Chelsea's first match this season after suffering an ankle injury earlier in the offseason.

Drogba was initially expected to miss up to four months but received good news with a favorable scan. The striker is expected to recovered quickly and could even feature on Monday against Burnley. Premierinjuries.com lists Drogba's return date as August 18th, when Chelsea meet Burnley, but there is still a bit of doubt as to whether Drogba will be fit for the match. Expect more information on this over the weekend.

Chelsea midfielder Ramires is suspended for the first Premier League match due to violent conduct last year.

Ramires was caught on camera last season throwing an arm at Sunderland's Sebastian Larsson and was later suspended for four matches. He has served three of them already during last season but one more remains to be served when Chelsea face Burnley in week one. Ramires is likely going to be featured off the bench this season as Chelsea have brought in Cesc Fabregas to replace him.

Chelsea's starting lineup is far from certain with one of the biggest questions left at left-back and right-back.

With the acquisition of Felipe Luis, the logical step would be to move Cesar Azpilicueta to his more natural right-back spot. That's easier said than done when that position has been steadily occupied by Branislav Ivanovic for a few years. It's unknown who will be left on the bench, but with the uncertainty, we recommend you avoid Chelsea's wing backs. The center-back position is more certain where Gary Cahill and John Terry are expected to start. There is also a huge uncertainty at the goalkeeper position, which you can read about at the link below.
