After protesting that any move might be happening, Wolfsburg appear to be on the verge of signing Andre Schurrle on a permanent deal.

With Juan Cuadrado reportedly about to finalize his move from Fiorentina to Chelsea, the Blues had to find a way to balance the financial books. Their answer appears to be the long-rumored sale of out-of-favor winger Andre Schurrle to Wolfsburg. The German club have been denying that a move would happen for days but kicker is reporting that the move is now imminent.

ESPNFC.com is reporting that Chelsea will land transfer target Juan Cuadrado from Fiorentina with Mohamed Salah headed in the opposite direction.

Reports of Cuadrado's arrival had been making their rounds for a couple weeks without ever feeling like they were going anywhere but that changed Thursday as club sources told ESPNFC.com that the move would happen in the next 48 hours. Cuadrado will replace the disappointing combination of Salah and Andre Schurrle who have both been in Jose Mourinho's doghouse this season. The arrival of Cuadrado may force Chelsea to sell Schurrle sooner rather than later to comply with Financial Fair Play regulations.

Branislav Ivanovic is an early doubt for Saturdays’ top-of-the-table clash against Manchester City at Stamford Bridge after the Capital One goalscoring hero picked up a nasty foot injury against Liverpool.

Ivanovic grabbed the all-important winning goal on Wednesday night to secure a Wembley appearance - Capital One cup final – and after 120 gruelling minutes the defender revealed he had been playing through the pain-barrier as his lacerated foot seeped blood through his boots. It’s unclear whether Ivanovic will need stitches but Mourinho did confirm the player would be assessed ahead of the game along with Fabregas [hamstring] and Luis [calf]. Diego Costa is also facing a three game ban – violent conduct – for his ‘alleged’ stamp on Emre Can – the Spanish international has until 6pm GMT to lodge an appeal.
Jan 29 - 6:27 AM

Didier Drogba is likely to start against Manchester City on Saturday if Chelsea striker Diego Costa is found guilty of a stamp in his last match.

Costa will most likely be suspended for three matches starting Saturday and Drogba will be the main beneficiary. Manchester City have a good defense but Chelsea are playing at home and Drogba has always loved the big matches. At his price, he is a decent option for fantasy managers who are willing to deviate from the usual. Check Costa's status on Friday being deploying Drogba.

Diego Costa is being charged by the FA for an alleged stamp on defender Emre Can during Chelsea's 1-0 win over Liverpool in the Capital One Cup.

The Chelsea-Liverpool match was an ugly one and Costa could have been sent off for two different challenges but was lucky to stay on the pitch. The first one was on Emre Can and the second was on defender Martin Skrtel. Both looked intentional and Costa will most likely be found guilty by the FA. If he is found guilty, he will serve a three-match ban that will likely start against Manchester City on Saturday. If Costa is suspended, Didier Drogba will likely start for the Blues and will be a fine fantasy option at his price.

Jose Mourinho has been left counting the cost of Wednesday nights’ Capital One semi-final win as Chelsea could potentially be without up to FOUR first team regulars for the crucial top-of-the-table clash against Manchester City at Stamford Bridge.

Branislav Ivanovic grabbed the only goal of the game in extra-time to confirm a date at Wembley in March but the win was slightly marred by the loss of Cesc Fabregas [hamstring] and Felipe Luis [calf] to injury while Ivanovic himself played through the pain-barrier with a foot laceration. The trio will be assessed further over the next 24/48 hours and their involvement on Saturday is uncertain. Fabregas was said to be replaced as a precaution after feeling muscle tightness which hopefully gives the Spanish maestro a decent chance but Luis is a concern – however Azpilicueta is a like for like replacement. The English FA will also be awaiting a referees report from the game to decide if they need to take any retrospective action against Diego Costa for ‘alleged’ stamping.

Andre Schurrle missed Chelsea's FA Cup match with a back problem.

Jose Mourinho confirmed that Schurrle felt a little pain in his back today and that's the reason he missed out on the FA Cup match. Schurrle hasn't been able to crack Chelsea's rotation this season and his fantasy value is practically zero at the moment. There are rumors sending him back to Germany during the January transfer window, so you shouldn't hurry to add him in any fantasy league right now. If he somehow ends up on a different Premier League team, he should be added in fantasy immediately.

Chelsea loanee Patrick Bamford scored early in the second half from a scramble in front of net and Kike settled it late as Middlesbrough stunned Manchester City at the Etihad.

City are truly struggling as they went from dropping points in consecutive Premier League matches to losing to Championship Middlesbrough in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Saturday. The loss is disappointing but not nearly as disappointing as how poorly City played. One potential goal from a deflected Kolarov shot hit the post late and the referee missed a hand ball in the box from a Boro defender but beyond those two incidents there wasn't much from City who started a number of first team players including Sergio Aguero and David Silva.

Chelsea were stunned by League One Bradford City at Stamford Bridge as the allowed the Bantams to come from two goals down to win 4-2 in the Fourth Round of the FA Cup

No Premier League team has taken points from Chelsea at Stamford Bridge this season but League One club Bradford City responded to Gary Cahill and Ramires goals in the first half by scoring four unanswered to win at the Bridge. Chelsea Manager said it would be a "disgrace" if his side were to exit the competition early to lower division opposition and disgraced they were. Jon Stead, former Chelsea trainee Filipe Morais, Andy Halliday, and Mark Yeates scored for the Bantams. The magic of the FA Cup lives.

Diego Costa's form dipped there for a while but over the past three match weeks, the Spanish international has been on fire with four goals and an assist over that stretch.

The Chelsea forward looks back to his best as Chelsea have re-established themselves as front-runners in the race for the title. Chelsea's slump coincided closely with Costa's fitness issues and might be an indicator of how important the Brazilian native is to the squad. Neither Loic Remy nor Chelsea legend Didier Drogba has shown nearly as much as Costa when asked to deputize. Right now, an injury to Costa during the second half of the season seems like the biggest threat to Chelsea winning the title.

Chelsea are reportedly lining up bids for Andre Schurrle (Wolfsburg) and Mohamed Salah (Roma) in hopes of nabbing Fiorentina's Juan Cuadrado, but manager Vincenzo Montella is convinced the high profile Colombian star will remain at the club, despite apparent interest from the Blues.

Cuadrado initially joined the Viola on a season-long loan from Udinese in 2012 and impressed sufficiently to earn a permanent move the following summer. Since arriving in Florence, he has scored 21 goals in 82 appearances for the Serie A club and Montella is convinced he will remain with them. "I believe as of today there are no possibilities he will leave Fiorentina," he said. "He knows this, he knows that these situations get exaggerated. I'm not angry with the media, in this case I'm not referring to the media, but to football. All that is being said is just talk and nothing more. The player is not involved in all of this."

Liverpool midfielder Suso has completed his £1 million switch to AC Milan on a four-and-a-half-year deal.

The 21-year-old Spaniard was due to be out of contract in the summer but has cut his Anfield stay short by six months. Suso moved to Liverpool from Spanish side Cadiz CF in 2010 as a youth player and made his debut for the Reds in 2012. Suso has not played for the Liverpool first team since their Capital One Cup penalty shoot-out win over Middlesbrough at Anfield on September 23. The 21-year-old Spaniard departs Anfield for Serie A four-and-a-half years after joining the Reds from Cadiz CF.

German midfielder Marko Marin has joined Belgian champions Anderlecht - his third loan spell since signing for Chelsea in 2012.

Marin, who has a contract at Stamford Bridge until 2017, spent the first half of the season on loan at Fiorentina having been at Sevilla last season. However the 25-year-old made no Serie A appearances and will now move to the Belgian Pro League for the remainder of the season. The Germany international has made just six Premier League appearances for Chelsea since joining from Werder Bremen for £7m. Anderlecht Manager Herman Van Holsbeeck: "RSC Anderlecht goes for quality and not quantity. The arrival of Marko Marin is a win-win situation for both parties. Here he can play at the highest level and help the purple and white achieve its ambitions."

Chelsea would score early and often as Diego Costa and Oscar would both bag a brace by the 36th minute and the Blues would coast from there to embarrass Swansea City 0-5 at the Liberty Stadium.

You won't see a much better attacking display in the league this season than what Chelsea were able to do in the opening half here. The first goal came in the opening minute when Oscar scored off a Gylfi Sigurdsson turnover. Then came Costa's first goal of the day after a dizzying display of passing found him clear. Costa would add his second of the day and 17th of the season when Federico Fernandez inexplicably sent a back pass straight to the open striker who finished cooly. Costa then would assist Oscar as he crossed it into the Brazilian's path who made a run into the area and struck to seal his brace, giving him eight goals in the league so far this term. Chelsea would cruise during the second half, preserving their clean sheet and adding a final goal from substitute Andre Schurrle. The match of the season comes next weekend when Manchester City come to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas believes the Blues are back on track after winning 2-0 against Newcastle this past weekend.

Chelsea had a mini-slump over the holiday period and allowed Manchester City to catch up to them but with the defending champions dropping points this weekend, Chelsea are back up on top by two points. The title is theirs to lose at this point but Chelsea must be careful not to make any more mistakes.
