Willian was the clear man of the match in Chelsea's 3-1 win against Huddersfield Town on Tuesday night.

The Brazilian, possibly in the lineup only due to Alvaro Morata's minor back injury, started the festivities in the 23rd minute when he found Tiemoue Bakayoko in the penalty area for his chip over Jonas Lossl to open the scoring. Then, in the 43rd minute, Willian got on the scoresheet himself with a rare header from a Marcos Alonso cross that saw the Blues double their lead before half-time. A third goal in the 50th minute—this time, Willian recorded his second assist by finding Pedro—to erase any doubt following a 1-0 loss to West Ham at the weekend. The only disappointment came in stoppage time when Chelsea saw its clean sheet slip away with Laurent Depoitre's late goal.

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte confirmed that forward Alvaro Morata will not feature against Huddersfield Town.

The star striker, who is among the league's top scorers with nine goals in his first Premier League season, will be rested as he deals with a minor back problem that would have made it tough to start three games in the course of a week. Without Morata, Michy Batshuayi is expected to start although Conte has gone with Eden Hazard as a false No. 9 in the past. Said the manager: "Morata is out. He is a bit tired and he has a problem in his back. I think when you play every three days, it is impossible to have a training session and to work on the physical aspects. It's impossible. It's impossible because you have to prepare with the players for a game every three days."

Chelsea failed to close the gap on Manchester City as they failed to find a finishing touch in a 1-0 loss to West Ham United.

Perhaps suffering from Champions League hangover, Chelsea's found themselves behind the eight ball early, conceding to the Hammers inside of six minutes. From then on, the Blues enjoyed a near 2 to 1 possession advantage and attempted 20 shots to West Ham's five. The problem: poor finishing from the likes of Alvaro Morata and Eden Hazard. Both had some good looks but couldn't get the shot on target. So, despite a flurry of activity in the final third, West Ham's Adrian only had to stop two shots. It was a miserable fantasy day all around for a Chelsea side that was heavily favored, with Marcos Alonso's yellow card and substitution before the hour mark the most frustrating. The Blues will look to bounce back with a trip to Huddersfield Town Tuesday night. Considering Morata played the full 90 minutes, he is at risk of being rested for that one.

Chelsea defender David Luiz is still struggling with knee inflammation and will miss Saturday's match against West Ham.

The Brazilian international hasn't featured in a Premier League match since being dropped for the 1-0 win over Manchester United in early November, with Andreas Christensen having started of late and Antonio Rudiger beginning to see more minutes. Luiz started last month's victory over Qarabag in the Champions League but hasn't featured since due the knee injury, and while he might not be missed this weekend, manager Antonio Conte was unable to provide a timeline on the return of the center-back: "I don’t know the right time of a return for David Luiz. The doctor would be more accurate for that as he can be more precise." Meanwhile, midfielder Danny Drinkwater will also miss out due to illness.

Eden Hazard looked in top form as Chelsea overcame an early deficit to easily put away Newcastle United, 3-1.

It was all Chelsea and all Hazard from start to finish, but an early Newcastle goal kept the result from being sealed until a third Chelsea goal came with a quarter hour to go. The Blues got on the board first through Hazard, scoring an equalizer by pouncing on an attempted clearance and blasting home in the 21st minute. Twelve minutes later, Chelsea went from trailing to leading as Alvaro Morata headed in a Victor Moses cross. Hazard would seal it by scoring a penalty that resulted from a foul on Moses in the 71st minute, but the Belgian had nine shots on target in total. In fine form, he will be a coveted fantasy addition this week.

Chelsea are facing the potential of being without David Luiz for the congested festive period after revealing the defender has fluid in his knee.

The Brazilian has been in and out of Antonio Conte's first-team in recent weeks, having lost his place in the starting XI to Andreas Christensen. Luiz did, however, play the full 90 minutes in each of Chelsea's last two Champions League matches. With nine matches across all competitions in the month of December, losing Luiz would leave Chelsea thin in defense. Speaking about Luiz's injury after the midweek victory over Swansea City, manager Antonio Conte said: Now it's very difficult [to give a timeframe on his recovery], because he had the liquid in his knee. We have to assess his recovery, the time. But I hope to not lose him for a lot of time, also because we have to play every three days and I need all my players."

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte was sent to the stands as Antonio Rudiger's second-half goal secured a 1-0 win over Swansea City on Wednesday.

The biggest highlight of the opening 45 minutes was the dismissal of the Italian boss. Conte, for the first time in his career as Chelsea boss, was sent from the touchline for contesting a goal-kick awarded to Swansea in the 43rd minute. With Conte watching from the stands, the Blue went on to score the lone goal of the match when N'Golo Kante's shot deflected into the path of Rudiger, who headed it past Lukaz Fabianski for his first league goal. Chelsea could have doubled their lead soon after, but Fabianski managed to tip Alvaro Morata's close-range header over the bar. The result sees Chelsea remain third in the table.

Willian's attempted cross rescued a point for Chelsea at Anfield on a day when they weren't at their fluid best.

The defending champions left it late but scored a late goal through Willian to take a point back home from Anfield. It was a day where every forward move seemed to die via an attempted Bakayoko pass gone wrong. It was left to Willian and his late attempted cross to pick up his teammates. It wasn't a vintage performance but an away point at Liverpool isn't a bad result although it does help Manchesters City and United above and Arsenal below (if the Citizens and Gunners can come through on Sunday).

Victor Moses is set to make his return from injury when Chelsea travel to Liverpool on Saturday.

The Nigeria international has not featured since suffering a hamstring injury in October, but manager Antonio Conte has revealed Moses will be included in the matchday squad at Anfield. However, given his length of absence, it's unlikely he will make the starting XI. Conte, speaking at his pre-match press conference, said: "Tomorrow Moses is in our squad. I think I want to put him on the bench, and then to decide if there is the necessity to put him on or not." Davide Zappacosta is expected to start at right wing-back, while Moses will challenge to regain his place once fully fit.

Eden Hazard led the way for the champions as they destroyed scuffling West Brom 4-0 at the Hawthorns in Week 12 action.

Eden Hazard started the season slowly but has come on strong over the last month and reasserted his place as one of the top players in the world. The Belgium international was at it again against West Brom scoring the 2nd and 4th goals for the Blues. Hazard was joined in his dominance by Cesc Fabregas who had two assists and Alvaro Morata who had a goal and an assist as the outcome was never in doubt for Antonio Conte's men.

David Luiz will return to the Chelsea squad for Saturday's trip to West Brom after his surprise omission from the win over Manchester United before the international break.

Andreas Christensen started against Manchester United and shined alongside Gary Cahill and Cesar Azpilicueta. While manager Antonio Conte reiterated his decision to drop the Brazilian defender was for 'tactical reasons', it remains to be seen if Luiz will be in the starting XI against West Brom. When asked about Luiz, Conte said: "Luiz is in the squad. It was a tactical decision and every single player has to react well and accept the decision." Meanwhile, Charly Musonda will not be available for selection and Danny Drinkwater faces a late fitness test.

Chelsea have been handed another injury headache after Tiemoue Bakayoko suffered an undisclosed injury while training at Cobham on Friday.

The 23-year-old has been playing through pain following summer knee surgery, but has made 15 appearances this season and solidified himself as an influential member of Antonio Conte's squad during the absence of N'Golo Kante. However, the £40m summer signing from Monaco limped out of training early on Friday after pulling up with a problem while undertaking personal fitness work. While the severity of Bakayoko's injury is not yet known, Chelsea will be sweating over his availability for next Saturday's trip to West Brom. Danny Drinkwater will be expected to start in midfield if Bakayoko misses time.

Michy Batshuayi has withdrawn from the Belgium squad for their upcoming friendlies after aggravating a foot injury and returned to Chelsea for further assessment.

Belgium manager Roberto Martinez confirmed, speaking ahead of Friday's friendly with Mexico, that Batshuayi arrived in camp carrying the injury and did not suffer the problem in training with the Red Devils. "When Michy arrived he was in pain so he," said Martinez in a press conference on Thursday. "He is out both games and has already left for Chelsea." While the extent of Batshuayi's injury is not yet known, the news will come as a concern for Chelsea boss Antonio Conte with just one other recognized striker in Alvaro Morata at his disposal. The 24-year-old has scored seven goals in 12 appearances in all competitions this season, including a brace off the bench in the 4-2 win over Watford last month.

Victor Moses is closing in on a return to first-team action following almost a month on the sidelines because of a hamstring injury.

The Nigeria international suffered the injury during the first-half of the 2-1 loss at Crystal Palace on October 14 and has not featured since. Chelsea manager Antonio Conte revealed last week that Moses' injury was worse than initially thought, saying: "We have to wait and have patience. He needs more time before he recovers." However, the 26-year-old has raised hopes that he could be available before the end of the month after returning to outdoor training at Cobham on Thursday. If next Saturday's game at West Brom comes too soon for Moses, he could potentially make his return against Qarabag in the Champions League on November 22. Davide Zappacosta will continue to start at right wing-back until Moses returns.

N'Golo Kante says his hamstring does not yet feel "100 percent" despite an impactful performance on his return in Chelsea's victory over Manchester United on Sunday.

Kante missed six matches for Chelsea after suffering the problem on international duty in early October. But the 26-year-old showed no lingering issues on his return, playing the full 90 minutes and completing 89 percent of his passes against Manchester United. Kante has been omitted from the France squad for friendlies against Wales and Germany over the break, but the midfielder said the decision was a "prudent choice" to aid his return to full fitness. "I don't think I'm 100 percent yet," he told SFR Sport following the 1-0 victory at Stamford Bridge. "I'll use the time to stay here and concentrate on getting back to 100 percent. It's not at all a problem."
