Chelsea have confirmed the return of Didier Drogba on a one year deal.

Drogba is a Chelsea legend, having won a Champions League, three Premier League titles, four FA Cups, and two League Cups during his time at the club. He has scored 157 goals in 341 Chelsea matches and is loved by Blues fans around the world. Drogba will probably be used off the bench as he is 36 years old and on the decline of his career. Despite that, he remains a solid target man who can be used at end of games when Chelsea need to get a goal. Using Drogba in fantasy will be a risky move unless Diego Costa suffers an injury.

Chelsea have loaned midfielder Mario Pasalic to Elche.

Pasalic joins La Liga side Elche on a season-long loan. The 19 year old just joined Chelsea this summer but isn't ready to feature for the Premier League club yet. Chelsea's midfielder is packed with world class talent and he would have had a hard time finding playing time. At Elche, Pasalic can probably be a starter and can gain valuable first team experience in one of Europe's top leagues.

Petr Cech started for the first time since suffering a shoulder injury at the end of the last year.

Cech started in Chelsea's friendly against Austrian side WAC RZ Pellets and appeared healthy. There is uncertainty at the position this year as Chelsea have brought back youngster Thibaut Courtois who was on loan for the past two seasons. Courtois has repeatedly stated he wants playing time but Petr Cech is still in his prime so it's unknown what Chelsea will do. The two most likely options are loaning out Courtois or selling Cech to a club outside of the Premier League. Whoever ends up with the job will be an immediate candidate for top fantasy goalkeeper this season.

Felipe Luis made his Chelsea debut in a friendly 1-1 draw against WAC RZ Pellets.

Luis Felipe started at left-back in a back line featuring Branislav Ivanovic, John Terry, and Kurt Zouma. He played the entire first half and part of the second and was replaced by Nathan Ake. Luis looks like he'll be a regular starter at Stamford Bridge this season. Jose Mourinho chose to play everyone in the squad in this match as he tries to bring his players to match fitness. Fernando Torres, Cesar Azpilicueta, Gary Cahill, Cesc Fabregas, and Diego Costa were absent as they were given time to recover from their World Cup participation earlier this summer.

Chelsea defender Kenneth Omeruo will return to Middlesbrough on a season-long loan according to Middlesbrough boss Aitor Karanka.

The Nigerian defender spent the second half of last season at Middlesbrough and featured regularly. Omeruo has earned a lot of praise from Karanka and has developed into a solid player. If he continues growing at this rate, Omeruo can replace John Terry at Chelsea in the near future. The 20-year-old is a versatile defender who can play at center-back and left-back. Expect him to be a great fantasy option in the future.

John Terry scored twice to help Chelsea come from behind and win their first friendly of the summer against AFC Wimbledon.

AFC Wimbledon took a 2-0 lead in the first half but Jose Mourinho made eight changes at the break and his side came back to win 3-2. Mohamed Salah scored one while John Terry added two. John Terry took the summer off after not being called up to England's World Cup squad and will look to have a successful season at Chelsea. He should be a premium fantasy option considering Jose Mourinho's defensive approach and Chelsea tendency to earn clean sheets. Young midfielder Lewis Baker played great and was involved in all three goals, making a case towards a first-team call up this season.

Frank Lampard will likely confirm his move to MLS club New York City in the coming week.

Lampard has left Chelsea after a great career at the club and will be remembered as a legend by the Blues' fans. He leaves the club with 648 appearances and Chelsea record 211 goals. Chelsea have already signed a replacement in Cesc Fabregas, who will likely take over the central midfielder role. Fabregas will partner Nemanja Matic to form one of the best central midfielder duos in the Premier League, making Chelsea a strong contender for the title.

Reports have surfaced about Didier Drogba striking a one-year deal with his former club, Chelsea.

Chelsea were after the star striker last summer but couldn't land a deal. Drogba is now a free-agent after his contract with Galatasaray has expired. We envision the Ivory Coast international to take on a role similar to the one he played in the World Cup this summer. Drogba is likely to come off a bench when Chelsea need a goal and provide a target man for long balls and crosses. The arrival is worry-some for Fernando Torres, whose playing time might decrease even more with Drogba in town.

Chelsea have signed left-back Felipe Luis from Atletico Madrid.

Luis is set to cost the Blues a fee in the region of £15million and the move should be finalized within 48 hours. The Brazilian left-back says joining Chelsea was a big opportunity that he couldn't pass up and admits he's a Chelsea fan. Chelsea have seemingly gotten him at a good value, considering Luke Shaw was sold for £15million earlier in the summer. Luis is expected to be a starter for Chelsea but don't be surprised if Cesar Azpilicueta comes in to give him rest every once in a while.

Edinson Cavani has reportedly told his agent to seek a move to the Premier League.

Chelsea and Manchester United are interested in the Uruguayan's services but he won't be coming for cheap. Cavani joined Paris Saint-Germain last summer for a fee of £55m and had a solid season in Ligue One. There is little chance PSG would let him go for less than the £55m they paid for him and the question is whether Chelsea or Manchester United are willing to splurge on the star. When asked during the World Cup if a move to Old Trafford was possible, Cavani stated that in football "anything can happen". Cavani would be a fantasy player that can make a difference if he were to move to the Premier League.

Demba Ba is close to finalizing a move to Turkish club Besiktas as he is deemed surplus at Chelsea.

Chelsea struggled at the striker position last year and Ba had trouble finding a spot in the rotation. With Chelsea bringing in Diego Costa, Ba wasn't expected to have much playing time, if any. Besiktas are reportedly willing to cover the majority of Ba's wages and the contract will include a clause that allows the Turkish club to buy Ba at the end of the season. Chelsea are also discussing the possibility of bringing in Didier Drogba as a player-coach next season. Drogba is 36 and will likely be used off the bench in a role similar to the one he took with the Ivory Coast this summer.

Germany have won the 2014 FIFA World Cup with a late extra time goal from Mario Gotze.

The final scored was 1-0 in favor of Germany. Germany and Argentina both played well in the final, but the Germans proved to the better team. Chelsea's Andre Schurrle came on in the 30th minute to replace the injured Christoph Kramer and had a phenomenal match. Schurrle provided pace down the left hand side and the Argentine defense had trouble containing him. The move also allowed Mesut Ozil to play in his favorite position in the middle of the pitch. At the end, it was Schurrle who plays a magnificent ball to Mario Gotze, who chested the ball down and scored with a nice volley. The Germans were undoubtedly the best team in the tournament and fully deserve the victory.

Brazil could not recover from the blowout loss to Germany in the semi-finals as they were defeated by The Netherlands 0-3, ending their World Cup run in embarrassing fashion.

Part of the outcome today belongs to a few blown calls by the referee, but in the end, Brazil were beaten fairly by a Dutch side that showed their dominance on both sides of the ball. Oscar put in a decent shift and the hosts were not without their chances, but the key pass to give an attacker a clear shot on target was not to be had. Meanwhile, the defense showed a lack of cohesion that was evident in their semi-final drubbing. They finish the tournament by being outscored 10-1 and their streak of avoiding back-to-back losses at home of any variety, a record older than the actual Girl From Ipanema, comes to a bitter end.

Several changes that include three players yet to be handed starts in World Cup 2014, Maxwell, Jo and Maicon. Premier Leaguers Oscar, Luiz, Paulinho and Ramires all start for the shell-shocked hosts.

Chelsea have signed Croatian midfielder Mario Pasalic from Hajduk Split.

The Blues lost Frank Lampard this summer but have done more than enough to replace him. They've signed Spanish midfielder Cesc Fabregas and now have signed a prospect for the future. Mario Pasalic is a 19-year-old central midfielder whose favorite player is Frank Lampard. Pasalic will take part of Chelsea's summer tour and pre-season training but there is a chance that he gets loaned out in order to get regular playing time. Pasalic is not ready to be a starter for Chelsea and he will need to develop a bit more to make it as a regular. The best case scenario for him this season is to be a backup for Fabregas and Nemanja Matic.
