John Terry has returned to training and will be ready to play on Saturday when Chelsea play Hull City.

Terry had missed the Blues' last three matches with an ankle ligament injury, but is set to make his return in GW7. The 34-year-old will be welcomed back to the starting XI after Chelsea conceded five goals over the course of their last two league matches, which saw them suffer a pair of defeats to Liverpool and Arsenal. The skippers' return will allow Antonio Conte to use either a back three or, pair Terry with Gary Cahill, in a back four.

Despite only receiving his first Premier League start of the season this past weekend, Cesc Fabregas has a role under Antonio Conte.

Said the Italian manager last week: "Cesc is in my plans and in Chelsea’s plans. We all know Cesc as a fantastic player. I see him in every training session with great work rate. If he continues in this way, it’ll be very difficult for me to choose my midfield. But I want this, putting many doubts in my mind over choosing someone else." The Spanish international has been linked with a move to West Ham if his playing time doesn't improve as he has battled for a spot in the starting lineup this season with midfielder Oscar.

Thibout Courtois made two saves and conceded three goals in Chelsea's loss at Arsenal on Saturday.

Courtois was left helpless on all three goals he conceded in GW6. The first came after a mistake by Gary Cahill, which allowed Alexis Sanchez to race through unmarked, while the second and third were products of Arsenal's creativity. The poor defensive display can also be attributed to the absence of John Terry. How costly has his absence been? Without Terry they have conceded five goals in consecutive defeats. Courtois and Chelsea will look to get back on track when they travel to Hull City next Saturday.

Cesc Fabregas made his first start of the season in Chelsea's 3-0 loss at Arsenal on Saturday.

Fabregas earned the start after scoring twice in the EFL Cup on Tuesday, but his inclusion in the starting XI wasn't enough to save Chelsea against his former club. The Blues were outplayed by Arsenal in the first half, conceding three goals before the interval, while the former Gunner was replaced in the 55th minute by defender Marcos Alonso. Fabregas, who started 33 matches and assisted on seven goals last season, has played just 87 minutes for Antonio Conte this campaign.

John Terry confirms he suffered a setback in his recovery from an ankle injury ruling him out of the game against Arsenal.

Terry posted an update via Instagram stating that his recovery will take longer than the proposed two-week initial timeline: ‘I can't even put into words how much being injured and missing today's game hurts. I had a small setback during the week but I'm hoping to be back soon ⚽️.’ The Chelsea skipper also added: ‘The bike is horrible,’ beneath a picture of Terry who is sitting on a stationary indoor cycle in what appears to be the club gym. With no European fixtures this season, Chelsea won’t play again until they travel to Hull in game week seven giving the captain another seven days to try and get himself fully fit.

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte announced Saturday's match with Arsenal will come too soon for captain John Terry.

The veteran central defender was hoping to return from an ankle injury sustained two weekends ago after just 10 days, with the Arsenal match in mind, but Conte is hoping to have him back for next week: "John Terry is working hard but he didn’t recover for the game against Arsenal. I don’t know when he will play because it is important what the player feels, and the pain he feels." Without Terry, who missed the Liverpool match and Leicester City cup tie, David Luiz will surely keep his spot in the starting lineup alongside Gary Cahill in defense.

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte confirmed defender David Luiz will fill in for John Terry in defense against Liverpool on Friday.

Terry was ruled out for 10 days after sustaining an ankle injury against Swansea City on Sunday, meaning Luiz will now make his second club debut for Chelsea after arriving on deadline day from Paris-Saint Germain. Said Conte: "He's worked a lot in recent days on the defensive situations with the ball when we are in possession. I'm confident about his performance [on Friday]. He's a good player and I'm very pleased because I have seen good things from him in the training sessions."

David Luiz looks set for his second Chelsea debut in Fridays game against Liverpool at Stamford Bridge.

The £34m deadline day signing from Paris Saint-Germain is poised for his first appearance in the blue of Chelsea since May, 2014 after the club confirmed John Terry will be missing "for approximately 10 days" having strained foot ligaments against Swansea. Speaking ahead of the match last weekend, Antonio Conte fielded questions about the Brazilian and he was clear that Luiz was brought in as a defender: "I know he has played in midfield before but, in my mind now, there isn’t this idea." The 29-year-old has faced criticism in the past, and was once famously described by Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville as though he was being controlled "by a 10-year-old on a PlayStation." But Conte went onto to add: "He must improve in some aspects, I’m here for this reason. To improve my players. To work on any weaknesses and make them stronger."

Chelsea will have to do without the services of captain John Terry for Friday's match against Liverpool due to an ankle injury.

The defender confirmed via his official Instagram account that he will not be available for the club for at least the weekend ahead. Wrote Terry: "I have strained my ligaments in my ankle which means I will be out for 10 days. Absolutely gutted, but will be giving everything to get back playing." The former England international picked up the injury in Sunday's 2-2 draw with Swansea City after colliding with Leroy Fer in the final minute of the match.. He was photographed leaving the Liberty Stadium on crutches and in a wrap. Reports across England suggest David Luiz is set to receive his first start since returning to the club on deadline day.

Chelsea faces an anxious wait over the status of defender John Terry after he came away with an injury in a 2-2 draw with Swansea City.

The defender was photographed leaving the Liberty Stadium on crutches with his ankle wrapped after he suffered the knock in the final minute of Sunday's match after being clipped by midfielder Leroy Fer. Said manager Antonio Conte in his post-match interview: "I don't know the extent (of the injury). Tomorrow we'll see the situation about his ankle. He is a warrior. I'm not worried." If Terry doesn't recover in time to be available to face Liverpool this weekend, both David Luiz and Marcos Alonso, who made the bench but didn't enter the match, are waiting in the wings for Conte.

Swansea produced a fantastic performance to nick a draw from Chelsea in a fiery encounter at home.

There were 6 yellow cards and could have been double that as Diego Costa yet again saved Chelsea's blushes in controversial circumstances. Chelsea pummelled Sansea in the opening half creating all the chances. They only managed a single goal in spite of their dominance, Oscar capitalised on Fernandez's error before providing Costa who found the bottom right. 130 seconds of madness gave Swansea the lead in the 2nd half. Sigurdsson equalised from the spot after Courtois's poorly judged tackle before Fer out-muscled Cahill and slotted the ball in off the 'keeper. Costa had the final word as he latched onto a deflected Ivanovic shot to convert a spectacular overhead kick.

The saga surrounding the future of Juan Cuardrado at Stamford Bridge has come to an end with the winger signing a three-year loan with Juventus.

Juventus said in a statement: "Juventus has the right to acquire the player on a permanent basis, or will be obliged to upon the achievement of agreed team results during the loan period, for a fee of €25 million, payable in three financial years, minus the loan fees already paid." This move comes after Antonio Conte seemed to favor keeping Cuardrado but the Columbian preferred a return to the Serie A. Cuardrado made 40 appearances and scored five goals in all competitions in a 2015-2016 season that saw the Italian giants claim their fifth straight Serie A title. This leaves Conte with Pedro Rodriguez and Victor Moses, boosting their fantasy value, to provide cover for Eden Hazard and Willian on the flanks this season.

Chelsea has made its fourth signing of the summer with a deadline day move for Fiorentina defender Marcos Alonso.

With all the deadline day drama surrounding the return of Paris-Saint Germain defender David Luiz, Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has signed his first defender in Alonso to a five-year contract through the 2021 season in a £20 million deal. The versatile defender is no stranger to the Premier League, playing under Gus Poyet on loan at Sunderland in 2014. Said Alonso: "It was an easy decision for me to make when I heard the club were interested in signing me. My family and close friends know Chelsea is the club I have dreamed about playing for so I’m really excited about the challenge and I'm looking forward to working with my new team-mates."

Chelsea have confirmed the signing of left-back Marcos Alonso from Fiorentina on a permanent deal reportedly worth around £23 million.

Marcos Alonso, former Bolton Wanderer and Sunderland full-back, 25, has become Chelsea's fourth summer signing. His arrival sparks an intriguing scenario as Cesar Azpilicueta will now face competition for minutes. Azpilicueta, who made 37 appearances for Chelsea last season, has served as Antonio Conte's starting left-back through the first three matches of the season. Marcos Alonso, who made 31 appearances for Fiorentina in 2015-16, will likely slot into a bench role during his early goings at Stamford Bridge. However, arriving on a such a high fee is a sign he could be handed a shot at a starting XI role. This is a situation to monitor moving forward.

In one of the more intriguing rumors on Deadline Day, David Luiz could potentially leave PSG and head back to Chelsea.

Chelsea are definitely determined to bring in a defender before the end of the day and Luiz, along with Fiorentina left back Marcos Alonso, are being linked to the Blues. David Luiz has always been criticized in his career for being too attacking-minded and not very good at doing his primary job, defending, but Antonio Conte wants another top option, currently lacking any options to challenge veterans John Terry and Gary Cahill. Reports indicate that Chelsea and PSG have a significant gap in an agreeable transfer fee but that could change in the coming hours.
