Antonio Conte named Eden Hazard and Diego Costa on the Chelsea bench for Saturdays FA Cup semi-final against Tottenham Hotspur.

Former England international, and current BBC pundit Gary Lineker, revealed via his personal Twitter account around 3:30pm that the pair had been dropped, news which was confirmed officially 45 minutes later. Undoubtedly, Conte picked his side with one eye on Tuesdays Premier League clash vs Southampton, with today’s opponents pushing hard in second place just four-points behind. As expected, Chelsea were able to welcome back Thibaut Courtois [ankle], Victor Moses and Marcos Alonso [both illness] but despite a return to training, Gary Cahill was not risked at Wembley. Nathan Ake was named in the starting XI for the first time since February while Michy Batshuayi comes in for only his third start of the year.

Antonio Conte will have to adjust his defensive tactics ahead of Saturday's FA Cup semifinal with Gary Cahill ruled out due to illness.

Cahill has been a consistent piece of a stalwart defense that has become a bit leaky in recent weeks, among seeing the club's lead atop the table cut to four points by Saturday's opponent at Wembley. Against Spurs, Conte could revert to a four-man back-line or bring John Terry into a three-man central defense. Said the manager: "This period is not a lucky period for us. When we started training on Tuesday he arrived at the training ground with a bit of a fever, and our doctor preferred to bring him to the hospital and check his condition. It’s not a serious problem. Now Gary is getting better and is improving a lot. If you ask me for tomorrow my answer is it’s very difficult, yes."

While admitting that he is not thinking about the future, Eden Hazard hinted that he could be interested in playing for another club.

Hazard has enjoyed a return to form with 14 goals this season, which has led to a Player of the Year nomination along with rumors linking him with a summer move to Real Madrid. The Belgian international didn't do much to stop the links, saying he might consider leaving the club in the indefinite future despite being happy at Chelsea: "When it's not PSG, it's Real Madrid, then maybe it's Bayern Munich... strangely last year there wasn't anybody. I may also have personal ambitions to play in other clubs. But I'm trying to focus on the present, end up in Chelsea this year. I have a contract until 2020. For now, I'm here and good here."

It's the end of an era at Stamford Bridge with long-time captain John Terry set to leave the club at the end of the season.

Terry has signed a number of one-year contracts since he entered his 30s, despite continuing to produce at an impressive rate. But after 22 years, four Premier League titles and 713 appearances for the club, Terry announced on Tuesday that he will leave once his contract expires at the end of the season. The 36-year-old has previously stated that he wants to play for another two years, but said he is unsure over his next destination: "After 22 years there is so much to say and so many people to thank at this great football club. From coaches, team-mates and staff to the fans who have given me so much support down the years, I can’t thank you enough...I will decide on my future in due course, but for now I am committed to helping the team achieve success this season."

In terms of injury excuses, we've heard about slipping in the shower and falling down the stairs. But filming a commercial? That might be a first.

"Sky Sports" report Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois missed the club's match on Sunday with Manchester United after injuring his ankle while filming a promotional video for the NBA. While manager Antonio Conte refused to admit to the incident, the bizarre injury has put Courtois' hopes of facing Spurs next week in the FA Cup semifinal in doubt. Said Conte: "I think it is not important now to understand the way that he had this injury. The bad news is that he is injured and now it is important to work to recover very soon. Thibaut Courtois for sure is one of the best goalkeepers in the world, but we trust a lot in Begovic. I am sure today he'll play a great game."

Chelsea have been dealt a last-minute injury blow ahead of their late kick-off at Old Trafford.

Thibaut Courtois is ruled out of the match with back-up stopper Asmir Begovic expected to start between the sticks in a game Chelsea cannot afford to drop points following Spurs’ comprehensive 4-0 win over Bournemouth yesterday. The goalkeeper was with the squad on Saturday before they flew to Manchester, but left the ground in his own vehicle while the rest of the squad boarded the team coach. Courtois was back at the Cobham training ground this morning receiving treatment, although the full extent of his injury is not currently known. It's hoped that the Belgium international could still make next weekend’s FA Cup semi-final clash against rivals Tottenham at Wembley. Antonio Conte revealed during his pre-match press conference that he had one or two things to check regarding player fitness, but insisted "the situation is good [there] are no new concerns [or injuries]."

Chelsea overcame Bournemouth 3-1 at the Vitality Stadium to reimpose their 7 point lead on Spurs at the top of the PL table.

The Blues raced into an early two goal lead. The breakthrough strike came in comical circumstances. Diego Costa received a low cross from Moses, pivoted and let rip, slicing the ball fortuitously so that it deflected off the face of Bournemouth defender Adam Smith for an own goal. Eden Hazard's finish for Chelsea's second was a lot classier. He broke free of the Bournemouth defence to receive Kanté's pass, rounded Boruc and slipped the ball into the net. The Cherries weren't dominated completely though, nearly leading on through a Luiz OG after only two minutes. They also hit the bar through an Afobe volley before Josh King grabbed one back with the help of a deflection before the interval. It proved to be a consolation though, as Alonso confirmed Chelsea's win with a sublime second-half free kick.

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte has confirmed that Victor Moses is available after recovering from a toe injury.

Moses, a surprise star of Chelsea's season, missed the defeat to Crystal Palace last Saturday and then failed to recover in time for the 2-1 victory over Manchester City on Wednesday. But the Nigerian international has since returned to training, and could return to the starting XI against the Cherries on Saturday. "He [Moses] trained with us yesterday and today but I need to check the situation to make the best decision. He is available. There are no other injuries," Conte said on Friday. The inclusion of Moses would see Cesar Azpilicueta return to a center-back role, with Kurt Zouma then likely dropped to the bench.

Chelsea bounced back from their weekend defeat to Crystal Palace with a crucial victory over Man City at Stamford Bridge.

The game was decided by three first half goals. The first came from the boot of Eden Hazard, who delivered a masterclass. The Blues opened Man City's defence with ease, Azpilicueta cut back for Hazard who calmly slotted the ball beyond Caballero. The shot deflected off City captain Kompany who has returned from his latest injury. In defence Chelsea were compact, pulling eleven behind the ball often. However, City drew level through Sergio Aguero after Thibaut Courtois made a mess of a kick out. Hazard got the the second on 35'. His poor penalty was saved but the Belgian made no mistake from the rebound. City pinned Chelsea back to no avail, though Stones should have done better from two opportunities from set pieces.

Chelsea suffered a stunning home defeat at the hands of relegation candidates Crystal Palace in a 2-1 loss Saturday afternoon.

In a wild turn of events, Chelsea saw its 13-match winning streak at Stamford Bridge snapped by the unlikeliest of opponents. Even more shocking is the fact that the Blues blew a lead despite going ahead in just the fifth minute of the match. Eden Hazard overcame a calf injury that kept him out for the last two weeks to set up the club's only goal of the day: a beautifully set-up effort from Eden Hazard that found Cesc Fabregas in front of goal for his fourth tally of the season. But Chelsea couldn't manage anything else as Hazard, Nemanja Matic and Diego Costa each saw good chances denied by Wayne Hennessey as the league leaders saw their lead atop the table cut to seven points.

Antonio Conte will check on Diego Costa [ankle], Thibaut Courtois [hip] and Victor Moses [calf] before making a decision on their availability for Saturday's match against Crystal Palace.

Although none of the injuries are thought to be serious, it's unclear whether or not they will be ready for the clash at Stamford Bridge. Costa suffered an ankle injury during training with the Spanish national team last Sunday and underwent an X-ray that revealed no significant damage, according to the Spanish Football Federation, while Courtois returned home early from international duty with Belgium to get treatment on a minor hip injury. Meanwhile, Moses was unable to feature for Nigeria during the break to a calf strain. On the trio, Conte said: "It’s important to check two or three situations and make the best decisions tomorrow. This week easy wasn’t to work after the international break." Conte also added that John Terry trained all week and will be in contention.
Mar 31 - 4:54 PM

Antonio Conte said he is confident Eden Hazard will not only start tomorrow but also "play well", amid speculation the player maker would miss Saturday's home game against Crystal Palace.

Conte confirmed Hazard would be available for Saturday when he spoke to the media on Friday. The vote of confidence comes after Hazard suffered a "minor muscle problem" that forced him to miss Chelsea's trip to Stoke City two weekends ago, and both of Belgium's matches during the international break.
Mar 31 - 4:27 PM

Thibaut Courtois will miss Belgium's friendly against Russia on Tuesday due to a minor hip problem but is not expected to miss anytime for Chelsea.

Courtois played the full 90 minutes but sustained a hip injury in the 1-1 World Cup qualifying draw with Greece in Brussels on Saturday. However, according to Belgian journalist Kristof Terreur, Courtois is expected to be fit for Chelsea's clash with Crystal Palace on Saturday. Terreur tweeted: "Thibaut Courtois won't play against Russia due to a minor hip problem. Expected to be fit against Crystal Palace, though." In the event Courtois is unable to recover in time for this weekend, Conte will likely hand Asmir Begovic his first league start of the season.
Mar 27 - 1:38 PM

Chelsea were left on tenterhooks yesterday when Diego Costa was sent for an X-ray after sustaining an ankle injury in training.

Fortunately, the Spanish Football Federation have confirmed that Costa did not suffer a serious injury and he will remain with the squad for the game with France tomorrow, although it remains unclear whether the in-from striker will be involved. Costa scored during Spain's 4-1 win over Israel to help maintain top spot in Group G, on goal difference from Italy, but there will be no point in taking any unnecessary risks for the friendly in Paris. Domestically, Chelsea face Crystal Palace this weekend, and despite the Blues sitting ten-points clear of their nearest rivals, Antonio Conte will be keen to ensure he has a full squad at his disposal. Chelsea have been boosted further by the news that Eden Hazard looks set to be available: "I have had a week of treatment with my club. I think I will be ready for the next match."
Mar 27 - 9:01 AM

Thibaut Courtois has handed the Premier League leaders a massive boost by claiming he won't be at Real Madrid next season and would be open to signing a new contract at Stamford Bridge.

Courtois has been subject of significant interest from Real Madrid over the course of the last year, but reaffirmed his commitment to Chelsea when asked whether he would play for Real next season. "No," Courtois told Spanish outlet Cerdena Ser radio, "I don't see myself at Real Madrid. I see myself at Chelsea, the club that six years ago saw me playing in Belgium and gave me the opportunity to sign for them." Although Courtois has yet to be offered an extension to his current contract, which expires in 2019, the Belgium goalkeeper said he would like to extend his stay at Stamford Bridge. "We will see at the end of the season if they offer me something. For the time being, there has not been an offer," he added. "I'm happy in London and I'm delighted with the success we are having this season."
