FAU senior CB D'Joun Smith "could wind up among the first five senior cornerbacks selected," wrote CBS Sports' Rob Rang.

"While lacking ideal size at 5-foot-10 1/8 and 189 pounds, Smith didn't lack in the physicality department, twice knocking down South receivers with solid hits and demonstrating light feet, a smooth turning motion and quick acceleration to lock down his side of the field," Rang wrote from the Senior Bowl practice field. An AFC scout told CBS earlier this year that he was impressed by Smith's ability to recover after making mistakes. "He gets physical downfield and locates well with the ballskills to make plays," observed Rang's colleague Dane Brugler recently.

FAU senior CB D'Joun Smith's skillset could play up at the Senior Bowl, wrote CBS Sports' Dane Brugler.

"An athletic cover man, Smith has gone overlooked nationally playing for a 3-9 team in the Conference USA, but he has the natural athleticism, feet and thought process to be a star in Mobile," Brugler wrote. "He gets physical downfield and locates well with the ballskills to make plays, something that should stand out during drills as Smith continues to move up boards." An AFC scout told CBS earlier this year that he was impressed by the 5-foot-11, 190-pound Smith's ability to recover after making mistakes.

Florida Atlantic S Damian Parms picked off a pair of passes at Saturday's East-West Shrine Game.

Nevada’s Cody Fajardo and South Carolina’s Dylan Thompson were both victims of the ball hawk. Parms possesses prototypical size and is a good open-field tackler. The 6-foot-2, 210-pounder is often found around the ball.

FAU senior CB D'Joun Smith accepted his invitation to play in the Senior Bowl.

Scouts love the one-on-one drills against receivers at All-Star events, so Smith (5-foot-11, 190 pounds) is going to have plenty of opportunities to make the acquaintance of evaluators who haven't seen much of him previously. CBS Sports' Dane Brugler wrote earlier this month that Smith could "make [receivers] uncomfortable coming off the line of scrimmage." An AFC scout told Brugler that he was impressed by Smith's ability to recover after making mistakes.

CBS Sports' Dane Brugler observed that FAU senior CB D'Joun Smith could "make [receivers] uncomfortable coming off the line of scrimmage."

Smith is listed at 5-foot-11, 190 pounds. Analyst Brugler wrote that, "[Smith] is patient in press while also showing the physical nature to get in the face of receivers," though he also said that the senior "lacks ideal size, length and strength and can be outmuscled at the line of scrimmage." Despite his size concerns, he has great instincts that can make up for deficiencies. An AFC scout told Brugler that he was impressed by Smith's ability to recover after making mistakes. Several days ago, Smith was invited to the Senior Bowl.

FAU CB D'Jon Smith has been invited to the Senior Bowl.

This is the first we have seen this season, so let the party begin. Corners a one position that receives a lot of attention at all star events thanks to one on one drills versus receivers.

The 5-foot-11, 190 pound Smith ranked No. 1 in conference USA and No. 2 nationally in passes defended (20) and No. 1 in the conference and No. 3 nationally in interceptions (7). Bills selected Florida Atlantic LB Randell Johnson with the No. 221 overall pick in the NFL draft

Johnson (6-foot-3 1/4, 242) ran 4.60 at the Owls' Pro Day, adding a 38 1/2-inch vertical and 10-foot broad jump. Injury plagued at FAU, Johnson played end, linebacker, and special teams as a senior, recording 7.5 TFLs and 2.5 sacks. He should help Buffalo's kick and punt coverage units if he makes the final 53-man roster.

49ers selected FAU CB Keith Reaser with the No. 170 overall pick in the NFL draft.

At the Combine in February, doctors discovered Reaser's ACL was not healed, and he had another knee reconstruction soon thereafter, performed by Dr. James Andrews. NFL.com's Gil Brandt reports former FAU WR Duron Carter worked out for the Miami Dolphins.

Brandt recently tweeted that Carter should be a priority free agent following the conclusion of the draft. He has a "similar speed (4.58), possession type," to his father, Cris, according to Brandt. We don't expect Carter to get drafted because of his reported poor attitude. He will have to come a long way to succeed in the NFL.
