CBS Sports' Dane Brugler is intrigued by Houston junior WR Deontay Greenberry's "NFL tools" but believes "he needs a ton of work."

"Houston WR Deontay Greenberry has intriguing NFL tools but despite the gaudy statistics, he needs a ton of work. Keep this JR on your radar," Brugler tweeted. Brugler mentioned in another tweet that Greenberry was "so raw in several areas on 2013 tape." The Cougars' prospect was the leading receiver last year with 82 receptions for 1,202 yards and 11 touchdowns. The former five-star recruit will definitely have the attention of evaluators, if he can show further development from his sophomore season.

Houston signed coach Tony Levine to a new five-year contract.

The pact replaces Levine's original five-year contract he signed when he joined the Cougars prior to the 2012 season. Levine replaced Kevin Sumlin, who left for Texas A&M. Houston finished 8-5 last season, losing to Vanderbilt in the BBVA Compass Bowl.

Houston coach Tony Levine said sophomore WR Deontay Greenberry (concussion) is listed as day-to-day.

Greenberry sustained a head injury in the first quarter of Saturday's loss at Louisville. "He feels better," Levine said. "It doesn't shock me he told me he feels better because he wants to play." Greenberry leads the Cougars with 70 receptions, 1,042 receiving yards and nine receiving touchdowns.

Houston sophomore WR Deontay Greenberry snatched four catches for 106 yards and a touchdown in Thursday's win over South Florida.

Greenberry now ranks fifth in the nation with 948 receiving yards and seventh with nine touchdown catches. Greenberry set California state single-season receiving records in high school. Rated No. 46 overall (No. 7 WR) by Scout.com in the 2012 class, Greenberry had a decent freshman season (47 catches, 569 yards, three TD), but has broken out during his second year on campus.

Houston true freshman QB John O'Korn completed 22-of-27 passing attempts for 263 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions in Thursday's 35-23 victory over South Florida.

The freshman from Fort Lauderdale, Flo. has led the Cougars to a 7-1 record. O'Korn, who took over the reins when teammate David Piland succumbed to career-ending injuries, has passed for 2,121 yards with a sensational 22/4 TD/INT ratio in his first collegiate season.

Houston starting senior LT Ralph Oragwu suffered a torn ACL against Southern and will miss the remainder of the season.

Oragwu might seek a sixth season of eligibility, according to the Houston Chronicle. The senior started 10 games at right tackle in 2012 and made the shift to the opposite side this offseason. The Cougars have already had their fair share of injuries along the front five.

Former USC WR, junior Markeith Ambles, has officially joined Houston.

Ambles decided he was making the move last April, but nothing was official until this week. The receiver has not practiced and the earliest he will see the field in a game situation is September 21 against Rice. He spent last season with Arizona Western.

Houston redshirt sophomore DT Mike Mustafa has been granted a waiver by the NCAA and will be eligible to play immediately.

Mustafa defected from the Oklahoma State football team last year around this time, citing "personal reasons." He's moved closer to his Houston-based family. Mustafa redshirted in 2011, so his next college snap will also be his first.

Houston WR Dewayne Peace, a Supplemental Draft hopeful, will not receive "rave reviews" from his former coaches, according to Sporting News' Eric Galko.

Peace, the team's leading receiver in 2012, learned he would be ruled academically ineligible during spring workouts. "As I spoke with a member of the Houston staff, he made it clear that the coaches would not be receptive to speaking about Peace, and that he won’t be drawing rave reviews from his now former coaches," Galko writes. We do not expect Peace to draw a draft pick on Thursday.

Houston senior WR Dewayne Peace is eligible for the Supplemental Draft and could be chosen during the event on July 11.

Peace caught 54 passes for 603 yards and two scores in 2012 but was ruled ineligible, reportedly due to academics, just a few months ago. He led the Cougars in receiving despite missing three games. "Peace offers good lateral quickness but he does not possess the speed to run away from defenders," according to CBS Sports' Rob Rang.

Former Houston redshirt freshman QB Rex Dausin is dropping down to the FCS level and will transfer to Lamar.

He will be eligible to play immediately in 2013. Dausin did participate in spring practice after redshirting his only season with Houston. He was a three star recruit coming out of high school.

Houston senior WR Dewayne Peace has been ruled ineligible and is no longer with the football team.

Peace led the Cougars in receiving in 2012 despite missing three games, totaling 603 yards and two touchdowns on 54 receptions. Houston has now lost their leading rusher and leading receiver in the last few weeks. Peace's academic standing is reportedly the culprit for this ruling. He worked with the second team offense during the spring, so coaches might have seen this coming.

Former Boise State junior S Lee Hightower has officially transferred to Houston.

Hightower announced the transfer two weeks ago, but Houston has now confirmed the move. The defensive back was suspended twice in a four month span and was dismissed from Boise State in February. He will have to sit out the 2013 season, but Hightower has a chance to compete for a starting safety position once eligible.

Former Boise State junior S Lee Hightower is transferring to Houston.

Hightower was indefinitely suspended in early February for violating unspecified team rules and his release soon followed. This was Hightower's second suspension in a four month time frame. He mostly lined up at strong safety for the Broncos but did not play after the seventh game of the season.

Raiders selected Houston CB D.J. Hayden with the No. 12 overall pick.

This is one of two picks the Raiders received from the Dolphins for trading down. They used it to get their man, who fills a massive need in the secondary. Of course, the Raiders have massive needs at basically every spot on the field. One of the draft's true "risers," Hayden (5-11, 191) earned first-team All-CUSA honors as a senior despite being limited to nine games by a torn heart cavity suffered in a fluke practice collision. He was medically cleared this offseason, and was buoyed by phenomenal tape. Rated the draft's No. 1 corner by Mike Mayock, Greg Cosell and Doug Farrar, Hayden is blessed with exceptionally quick and sudden feet, plays aggressively on the ball and has extensive experience as a "matchup" cover man, shadowing No. 1 receivers. Also a takeaway specialist, Hayden racked up six picks, six forced fumbles and 11 tackles for loss across 22 college starts.
