Uncommitted four-star 2019 QB Jayden Daniels will announce his college commitment on Thursday.

Daniels is deciding between Arizona State, UCLA, and Utah; and Arizona State and the Bruins are considered the leaders. The 6-foot-2, 165-pound quarterback is considered one of the true "dual-threat" signal-callers in the class, and he ranks 2nd at the position designation by 247 Sports. Whatever school gets him -- it sure sounds like it's going to be the Sun Devils -- is getting a quarterback that can really run, with enough arm strength to keep defenders honest. Stay tuned.

Concordia OL Maurice Simba accepted an invitation to the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl.

Simba (6'8/323) is going to receive a lot of Lion King jokes at his various events, as if he hasn't already. With that size, he's going to intrigue scouts, but because he played against inferior -- to put it bluntly -- competition, he'll need to show big upside if he's going to be drafted. The Shrine Game is an excellent way to strengthen the draft stock.
Dec 10 - 2:17 PM

Laval Rouge senior DE Mathieu Betts accepted an invitation to the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl.

Betts is considered one of the best prospects in Canada, and reports indicate that he could be the first pick in the CFL. The 6-foot-3 245-pound linebacker will have a chance to show his productivity can translate at the next level, however, as he's also accepted an invitation to the East-West Shrine Game. If he performs well in those, a Senior Bowl invite could come next.
Dec 10 - 1:31 PM

Pete Thamel of Yahoo Sports reports that former USC OC Tee Martin turned down interest from Austin Peay to become the new head coach.

Martin reportedly turned down the position because he wants to remain an assistant or coordinator for a Power 5 school rather than coaching at the FCS level. He was fired at the end of the 2018 season and replaced by Kliff Kingsbury. He's viewed as an elite recruiter, so it shouldn't be a surprise if the former Tennessee quarterback gets a job somewhere soon. It may not be as a coordinator, however.
Dec 10 - 11:39 AM

Lackawanna (PA) JC OL Darius Tisdale has verbally committed to attend Syracuse.

Tisdale (6'5/296) made his verbal pledge to Syracuse while on his official visit, and this likely means that he will not be visiting West Virginia the weekend of December 14. In helping to lead Lackawanna to an 11-0 record and a win in the El Toro Bowl, Tisdale was named a second team All-Northeast JC Conference selection. Syracuse now has 15 verbal commitments in the 2019 class, with four being offensive linemen.
Dec 8 - 4:38 PM

Angelo State DL Markus Jones accepted an invitation to play in the East-West Shrine Game.

Jones (6'3/260) put up ridiculous numbers for Angelo State in 2018, and won the Gene Upshaw Award for his efforts. He made 34 tackles for loss, and he also had 77 total tackles while blocking two kicks. Obviously the level of competition will be a concern, but Jones will have a chance to show that those stats translate with a strong showing in the Shrine Game.
Dec 7 - 4:25 PM

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Los Angeles Chargers OC Ken Whisenhunt has withdrawn his name from consideration for the open head-coaching position at Georgia Tech.

Schefter reported at the end of November that Whisenhunt would be interviewing for the job. He has ultimately decided to stay with the Chargers for the time being, it would appear. This was never a particularly clean outward fit, as Whisenhunt has all of one collegiate coaching job on his resume, having served as tight ends coach at Vanderbilt from 1995-96. Temple HC Geoff Collins is one name to watch now that Whisenhunt is out of the picture.
Dec 6 - 6:13 PM

Uncommitted four-star 2019 ATH Quavaris Crouch will make his commitment at the U.S. Army All-American Bowl on Jan. 5.

Or should we say, Crouch will make his commitment public on Jan. 5. His actual decision will come a few weeks earlier, as the four-star stud has plans to make a "silent" commitment prior to the early signing period later this month. As for the contenders in this race, Michigan HC Jim Harbaugh paid him an in-home visit on Monday and Clemson HC Dabo Swinney will likewise be checking in with him on Saturday. These are believed to be the two finalists for his pledge (with Alabama and FSU also having outside shots). While Crouch could play a number of positions once he hits his preferred campus, he told the Washington Post just prior to Thanksgiving that he would be playing linebacker at the collegiate level. On the 247Sports composite board, Crouch ranks as the No. 39 overall prospect in the 2019 class. He had been drawing five-star status earlier in the fall, but has slid a little in recent rankings releases.

Uncommitted four-star 2019 G Ennokk Vimahi will take an official visit to USC on Dec. 15.

Vimahi (6'4/281) said that he's had to "slow down on the process" to weigh some of the coaching changes at USC, but he still views the Trojans as a big-time player for his pledge. As for his other official visits, he previously checked out Notre Dame and is interested in scheduling a trip to Oklahoma before National Signing Day in February. That Sooners official could potentially come after he takes part in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl and Polynesian Bowl. On the 247Sports composite board, Vimahi slots in as the No. 123 overall prospect in the 2019 class.

Uncommitted five-star 2019 DE Kayvon Thibodeaux will take an official visit to Florida this weekend.

Thibodeaux (6'5/220) plans on announcing his pledge on Dec. 15, making the timing on this visit particularly clutch for the Gators. Florida HC Dan Mullen paid him an in-home check-in earlier to help cement this trip. The Westlake Village, California, native indicated that he feels very comfortable with Mullen and his pitch. In addition to Florida, Alabama, FSU, USC and Oregon are all in the running to land Thibodeaux, who ranks as Rivals' No. 10 overall prospect in the 2019 class.

Dec 5 - 2:02 PM

Uncommitted four-star 2019 DE Adisa Isaac said that Penn State, Miami, Syracuse and Texas A&M are the four finalists for his pledge.

Isaac (6'5/210) has had Syracuse on his mind for some time, now. The Brooklyn native was talking the Orange up last March. Both Syracuse and Miami paid him visits earlier this week, while Penn State and Texas A&M are expected to check in with him in the coming days. Isaac plans on signing with his future team at the start of the early window on Dec. 19. On the 247Sports composite board, he ranks as the No. 71 overall prospect in the 2019 class.

Dec 5 - 1:01 PM

Ohio State four-star 2020 verbal T commit Jake Wray reopened his recruitment.

Wray (6'5/290) is the younger brother of current Buckeyes OL Max Wray. He is the second player to back off an OSU pledge since Urban Meyer's retirement announcement on Tuesday. Of note, both of Ohio State's recent decommitments came from players in the 2020 class, rather than the 2019 class. For his part, the younger Wray ranks as Rivals' No. 250 overall prospect for the 2020 cycle. He did note in his Twitter post that Ohio State will remain in his mental hierarchy, so it's possible that he could end up looping back around, here.
Dec 5 - 11:33 AM

Uncommitted three-star 2019 WR Tre'Von Morgan will take an official visit to Iowa State this coming weekend.

Morgan (6'6/220) is going to have a busy enough stretch run before he signs with a program in February, as he plans on using all five of his official visits, none of which he has taken yet. The Cyclones will have first shot at winning his heart. It's not known at this juncture what other programs have caught his interest, but Ole Miss, Washington State, Virginia and Michigan State are among the Power 5 programs outside the Cyclones to have tossed offers his way. Morgan ranks as the No. 22 prospect in the state of Ohio for the 2019 cycle.

Dec 4 - 8:09 PM

Ohio State four-star 2020 verbal S commit Lejond Cavazos has reopened his recruitment.

Cavazos (6'0/186) has been the only Buckeyes recruit to back off his pledge since Buckeyes HC Urban Meyer announced his retirement earlier on Tuesday. He has been in OSU's corner since the summer. It doesn't come as a huge surprise that the lone Ohio State prospect to back off in the wake of the Meyer news comes from the 2020 class, as he still has a year-plus to evaluate his options and find a new comfortable home.
Dec 4 - 7:02 PM

Uncommitted four-star 2019 S Nola Pola-Gates will take an official visit to USC this coming weekend.

Final official visit for Pola-Gates, this one. Alabama, Arizona State, Nebraska and Penn State have earlier drew official visits of their own. The Crimson Tide should be viewed as a probable favorite in this race. Look for the 6-foot-1, 180-pounder to make his commitment public on Jan. 19, at the Polynesian Bowl. As the timing would indicate, Pola-Gates will be signing his NLI on the traditional February occasion, rather than the new early signing window later this month. The 247Sports composite board sees him home as the No. 160 overall prospect in the 2019 class.
