Idaho starting junior QB Dominique Blackman was held out of the Vandals' season opener for unspecified reasons.

Head coach Robb Akey would not disclose his reasoning, instead saying, "that is between he and I." Akey named Blackman the starter just two weeks ago, so obviously his absence from last night's loss to Eastern Washington was puzzling. Blackman transferred prior to last season from Old Dominion and was forced to redshirt due to NCAA regulations. However, out of high school he originally signed with Washington but never played for the Huskies.

Idaho head coach Robb Akey has named junior Dominique Blackman his starting QB.

Blackman transferred prior to last season from Old Dominion and was forced to redshirt due to NCAA regulations. However, out of high school he originally signed with Washington but never played for the Huskies. In two preseason scrimmages, Blackman completed 25-of-35 passes for 348 yards and six touchdowns, without throwing an interception. He bested junior Taylor Davis in the competition for the starting gig.

Ken McRoyal was shot and killed Sunday in Los Angeles.

McRoyal appeared in eight games (one start) and caught six passes after making the team as a walk-on last season. Prior to joining the Vandals, McRoyal played at El Camino Junior College in California. He would have been a senior in the fall.

At 6'7, Idaho wide receiver Eric Greenwood literally towers over all defensive backs but against Utah State, his stats were even bigger than his gigantic size.  Greenwood finished the game with four grabs for 114 yards and two touchdowns.

You would think Greenwood would be an amazing red zone target but he only has five touchdowns on the year which makes him of little fantasy value.

Idaho quarterback Nathan Enderle had a solid performance in the win over Utah State as the senior signal caller threw for 243 yards, three touchdowns, and a pick.

Enderle has been quietly producing this year and is a decent start next week against Fresno State.

Idaho running back Deonte Jackson expects to play against rival Boise State this weekend despite dealing with an ankle injury that has kept him in a protective boot all week.

Jackson will be needed against the Broncos but will find little room to run against their stifling defense.

The status of Idaho running back Princeton McCarty (knee) remains in doubt for Friday's game with Boise.

Deonte Jackson should be good to go for the Vandals.

Idaho running back Deonte Jackson (ankle) expects to play this Friday night against Boise State.

Jackson is the team's leading rusher, and it's clear from his comments to The Idaho Statesman that he'll be chomping at the bit on Friday. However, his enthusiasm shouldn't lead to much excitement from fantasy owners.

Idaho quarterback Nathan Enderle had another big performance with 291 yards and three touchdowns against New Mexico State.

While Kellen Moore and Boise State gets all the press, Enderle is a solid fantasy option who is quietly putting up impressive numbers.

Despite losing to Louisiana Tech, Idaho as a team threw for 506 yards and five touchdowns.  Nathan Enderle led the charge with 365 yards and three touchdowns while Brian Reader added the other 141 yards and two touchdowns.

Enderle struggled a bit against the Bulldogs secondary but against most WAC opponents he is a decent start.

Idaho quarterback Nathan Enderle feasted upon the soft secondary of Western Michigan as the senior threw for 380 yards, three touchdowns, and two picks.

Enderle is a top level quarterback in the WAC and against softer defenses will continue to put up video game numbers.

Idaho quarterback Nathan Enderle looked superb against Colorado State as he completed 25-of-30 passes for 347 yards and three touchdowns in the close loss.

Enderle is overshadowed by in-state rival Kellen Moore, but he is one of the best quarterbacks in his conference and could be a nice option on certain weeks.

Idaho quarterback Nathan Enderle tossed five interceptions against Nebraska and finished 16-of-31 for 141 yards and a TD.  He was also sacked five times.

Enderle will have better days when the Vandals get back into conference play.  Two of the picks were returned for TDs, but his job isn't in any danger.

Idaho coach Robb Akey addressed the media on Monday and said that receivers Preston Davis and Maurice Shaw (hamstring) are expected to play.  Both have apparently missed significant practice time this summer.

Davis and Shaw are expected to build off their solid performances last year.  Fantasy owners will want to factor in the injury information on Shaw when deciding on their starting lineup this week, however.
