Brad Sorensen - QB - Thunderbirds

Chargers selected Southern Utah QB Brad Sorensen with the No. 221 overall pick.

Sorensen (6-foot-4 1/2, 229) left Southern Utah as the school's all-time leading passer, but regressed sharply as a senior after earning Player of the Year in the Great West Conference as a junior. Sorensen looks like a camp arm or practice-squad candidate at this point.

Southern Utah senior QB Brad Sorensen has committed to play in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl.

Sorensen may receive an invite from another all star game if other prospects drop out, but at least he will put his talents on display. We were not overly impressed during our first exposure of the senior quarterback, but he could earn a late-round grade form evaluators.

Southern Utah senior QB Brad Sorensen struggled Thursday night against Utah State, completing 12-of-31 passes for 153 yards and an interception.

Sorensen has been pegged by many as the top FCS level quarterback prospect, but the test versus FBS level competition did not impress. The senior made some solid throws from a clean pocket, showing off a short release and nice placement on 17-to-20 yard out routes. However, in a muddled pocket Sorensen's eyes dropped and he made himself smaller. The Thunderbirds play Cal in one week, so Sorensen may need to impress in his last matchup against FBS talent in order to be a top two day pick.
