CBS Sports' Bruce Feldman reports former Texas Tech junior DT Delvon Simmons will visit USC on Sunday.

Simmons is a former five star recruit and started every game in 2012, registering six tackles for loss, including two sacks. The Trojans are fairly young at the position, with future NFL prospects like George Uko and Leonard Williams leading the way, but that won't stop them from potentially adding Simmons to their roster.

Texas Tech senior QB Seth Doege completed 31-of-45 attempts for 271 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions against Minnesota.

Doege made a couple of questionable throws after his first read was covered, but we like the way he buys time with his feet to hit open receivers. He has a shot to be drafted, likely in the sixth- or seventh-round, and a solid week of practice for the East-West Shrine Game will only help that.

Texas Tech sophomore TE Jace Amaro has been cleared to play in the school's bowl game.

Amaro had been held out of games since mid-October after taking a shot to the midsection. He plays a hybrid receiver/tight end position and finished as the team's third leading target despite missing six games.

Texas Tech senior QB Seth Doege plans on attending the East-West Shrine Game.

Doege's accuracy alone may land him on an NFL roster, and he does well to understand his physical limitations and work around them. The Red Raider could really help himself by taking chances vertically downfield in practice.

Texas Tech sophomore TE Jace Amaro has still not been cleared to play after taking a shot to the midsection on October 13.

Amaro tweeted that he was cleared to play, but athletic department spokesman Blayne Beal refuted that statement. Head coach Tommy Tuberville added that he was hopeful Amaro would be available to play in the school's bowl game, but no timetable is currently in place for his return.

Texas Tech senior QB Seth Doege completed 30-of-42 attempts for 318 yards and seven touchdowns Saturday against TCU.

The game went into triple overtime, but Doege was impressive throughout. Keep in mind, many of his throws were predetermined reads prior to the snap, but the senior put the ball on point with touch and allowed his receiver to make a play at the catch point. We like how Doege has started to play within himself and he should have a chance to prove his talent in a post season all star game.

Texas Tech senior QB Seth Doege completed 32-of-42 attempts for 499 yards, along with six touchdowns, in Saturday's game against West Virginia.

As good as the Mountaineer offense can be, the defense has been consistently terrible. Doege is a solid college quarterback, but he isn't this good. Still, he was able to find open receivers and put the ball in a place where their momentum was not slowed.

Texas Tech senior WR Darrin Moore is expected to play against Texas State on Saturday after completing his suspension.

Moore is expected to see time in the Red Raiders' four reciever sets and offers desirable size for quarterback Seth Doege to take advantage of. Five other players will return, including receivers Javon Bell and Tyson Williams, outside linebacker Chris Payne, nickel back Jarvis Phillips and cornerback Derrick Mays.

Texas Tech junior LB Daniel Cobb has been dismissed from the team due to a violation of team rules.

Cobb started in seven games for the Red Raiders last season and finished third on the team in tackles with 70. No further reasoning for the dismissal was given. Sophomore Sam Equavoen will likely start in Cobb's place.

Texas A&M senior OL transfer Brian Thomas has left the Texas Tech football program after he failed to meet the basic physical requirements to remain on the team.

Thomas started 25 consecutive games before arriving in Lubbock, so his lack of fitness likely came as a surprise to the Red Raiders' coaches. He reportedly had "issues with conditioning and acid reflux." Head coach Tommy Tuberville explained that Thomas "was second team and went down to third team. Physically, he couldn't make it through a complete practice."

Texas Tech redshirt freshman OT Matt Wilson will miss the 2012 season after partially tearing the ACL in his right knee during spring practice.

The injury apparently went from a partial tear to fully torn and will be surgically repaired in the near future. "It just wasn’t going to work. He got knocked down one time and it got real sore on him," head coach Tommy Tuberville said. Wilson has been practicing with the starters while senior Terry McDaniel recovered from a concussion.

Texas Tech senior QB Seth Doege admits he was too hard on himself at times last year and has tried to build a short-term memory this offseason.

According to Doege he was never uncomfortable last season, but when a mistake was made he compounded it by dwelling on the last play, which resulted in more mistakes. The Red Raider hopes to join the ranks of Graham Harrell and Kliff Kingsbury as notably accurate quarterbacks. Doege completed 68.5 percent of his passes last season, for 4,004 yards including 28 touchdowns and ten interceptions. After earning the starting role somewhat quietly last summer, Doege certainly comes into this season with higher expectations surrounding him.

Texas Tech senior WR Darrin Moore has been suspended indefinitely from the football team following a DWI charge on April 13.

This kind of delay on a decision from the school is quite common. Moore (6'4/214) hauled in 47 passes for 571 yards and eight touchdowns last season in only eight games. Texas Tech associate athletic director Blayne Beal said there are no guarantees Moore will be reinstated in the future.

DeAndre Washington said he is about 80-85 percent recovered from a torn ACL.

Washington indicated he has not gone all out yet, but what he has done is convince himself that he will be ready for the start of the season. Washington, who will be a sophomore, went down against Missouri in the next-to-last game of 2011. He finished the year with 77-366-3 rushing and added 19-109-0 receiving. His high-water mark for the season was 16-84 at Oklahoma.

Quarterback Dustin Walton is transferring to Texas Tech.

Walton did not see any action as a freshman with New Mexico last season. He will enroll in Lubbock this summer and sit out the 2012 season as a transfer. Walton will have three years of eligibility remaining.
