Despite last year's injury-riddled campaign, NFL Media draft analyst Chad Reuter promises that "scouts won't forget about [Louisiana-Lafayette redshirt senior WR Jamal Robinson's] skills heading into this year."

The 6-foot-4, 205-pound senior only played in three games (15 catches for 260 yards and four touchdowns) last year, injuring his meniscus versus Louisiana Tech on Sept. 6 and then hurting his foot against Texas State. Those injuries prompted the NCAA to grant a fifth year of eligibility through a medical hardship waiver. "Robinson uses his strength and strider's speed to win down the sideline, but has enough foot quickness to stutter-step and run the quick out to complement the deep ball," Reuter wrote. "A healthy and consistent 2015 should shoot him up draft boards." Robinson averaged 16 yards per catch and scored eight times in 2013.

Mississippi State redshirt sophomore WR Shelby Christy will transfer to ULL.

Christy redshirted his first season at Miss State and did not see game action during his second. The former three-star recruit is from Louisiana.

Packers selected Lousiana-Lafayette DE Christian Ringo with the No. 210 overall pick in the 2015 NFL draft.

Ringo (6'1/293) was the 2014 Louisiana Sportswriters Association Defensive Player of the Year, piling up 20 tackles for loss and 11.5 sacks. Snubbed for invites to major pre-draft events, Ringo showed NFL-quality movement skills at his Pro Day by running 4.97 with a 29-inch vertical and 9-foot-5 broad jump. Ringo's combination of athleticism and production suggests he has a good chance to become a contributor as a three-technique pass rusher.
May 2 - 4:53 PM

UL-Lafayette DT Christian Ringo "might only ever be a sub-package player in the NFL, but he has the potential to be a very good one," wrote Gordon McGuinness of Pro Football Focus.

"He can be overpowered, which isn't surprising given his size (6-1, 277), but his first step is often too good for opposing offensive linemen to handle," McGuinness wrote. "That led to him having a pass-rushing productivity rating of 15.8 from the 238 pass-rushing snaps he played at 3-4 defensive end last season, the highest in the nation." We're happy to see Ringo get some love, as we enjoyed his work in the admittedly limited Ragin' Cajun action we took in this season. Ringo set ULL's single-season sack record in 2014 with 11.5 and also tied a school record with his 21st career sack. "He's particularly impressive rushing the passer from the nose tackle spot, where his first step beat plenty of centers in 2014, but he likely won't hear his name called early in the draft," McGuinness wrote. "However, in the right system, he has the potential to be productive early in his career." Ringo will either be a Day 3 pick or a priority UDFA.

Louisiana-Lafayette senior QB Terrance Broadway will play in Saturday's Medal of Honor Bowl.

Broadway won't get drafted, but it'll be fun to see him man the quarterback position one more time. The three-year starter told reporters that he is working exclusively as a quarterback at the Medal of Honor Bowl. Broadway passed Jake Delhomme to become the Cajuns’ all-time leader in total yards this season. He will have to switch positions to have any chance of making the NFL.
Jan 7 - 6:26 PM

UL-Lafayette senior DT Christian Ringo wrote himself into the school's record book by recording a sack in a 16-3 win over Nevada in the New Orleans Bowl on Saturday morning.

With his sack on the second-to-last play of the game, Ringo set ULL's single-season sack record with 11.5, and also tied a school record with his 21st career sack. He's been highly productive throughout his career, but NFL scouts have thus far turned up noses at his 6-foot-1, 275-pound frame. At the very least, Ringo will have a chance to earn his way onto an NFL roster via a UDFA post-draft contract.

Louisiana-Lafayette head coach Mark Hudspeth "will emerge as one of the hottest commodities in college coaching" this season, writes FOX Sports' Bruce Feldman.

"And it'll have nothing to do with the fact that he can bench press more than like 95 percent of his players," Feldman deadpanned. "Well, almost nothing. The 45-year-old Hudspeth, 99-33 all-time as a head coach, has 18 returning starters and has a good shot to knock off Ole Miss or Boise State even though both games are on the road." ULL athletics director Scott Farmer gave Hudspeth a six-year contract extension in June after three straight 9-4 seasons that all culminated with bowl victories.

Louisiana-Lafayette signed head coach Mark Hudspeth to a six-year extension.

ULL athletics director Scott Farmer announced Hudspeth's deal on Friday. The pact features a base salary of $950,000, plus incentives, a just reward for three straight 9-4 seasons that all culminated with bowl victories. The contract "is a show of faith between the university and Coach Hudspeth in that both sides agree the football program is headed in the right direction," said Farmer.

Louisiana-Lafayette junior QB Terrance Broadway completed 8-of-13 attempts for 185 passing yards, two touchdowns and one interception in Thursday's 41-36 victory over Troy.

Broadway added 63 rushing yards and two touchdowns. The Ragin' Cajuns were outgained by nearly 100 yards and turned the ball over two more times than the Trojans (2-0), but they held on for their seventh consecutive victory. ULL improves to 7-2, including 4-0 in the Sun Belt.

Louisiana-Lafayette junior QB Terrance Broadway completed 18-of-28 attempts for 205 passing yards, no touchdowns and one interception in Tuesday's 23-7 victory over Arkansas State.

Arkansas State hung 50 on the Ragin' Cajuns in 2012's blowout win, so Broadway and company enjoyed sweet revenge on their opponent's home field this evening. Both Elijah McGuire and Alonzo Harris rushed for more than 100 yards, and Broadway added 28 yards on the ground. Broadway struggled in ULL's season-opening blowout losses against BCS opponents Arkansas and Kansas State. His efficiency has improved overall -- despite his ho-hum air display against the Red Wolves -- as has the Cajuns' postseason odds during their current five-game winning streak. ULL leads the Sun Belt with a 3-0 record.

ULL sophomore RB Alonzo Harris rushed for 120 yards and two touchdowns on 21 carries Saturday against ECU.

Harris had an up and down season from a production standpoint, failing to generate consistent performances. Still, as only a sophomore with a large body for the position, Harris has a few more years to prove his NFL value. This kind of stat line certainly won't hurt.

Louisiana-Lafayette will meet ECU in the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl on December 22.

This contest lacks NFL caliber talent but ULL cornerback Melvin White could top the list along with defensive tackle Cordian Hagans. For ECU, junior linebacker Derrell Johnson could create some pressure off the edge.

Blaine Gautier threw for a New Orleans Bowl record 470 yards in La.-Lafayette’s 32-30 win over San Diego State in the New Orleans Bowl.

Gautier completed 24-of-40 with 3 TDs. The junior's big bowl game enabled him to finish the season with school records for passing yards (2,958) and touchdown passes (23), breaking the single-season marks held by Jake Delhomme.

La.-Lafayette receiver Javone Lawson established career-highs with 9 receptions, 193 yards and 2 TDs in a 32-30 win over San Diego State in the New Orleans.

Lawson topped 100 yards five times in the last eight games and his effort against the Aztecs put him over 1,000 for the season. Lawson caught and 18-yard TD pass in the opening quarter and an 11-yarder in the fourth quarter.

LA-Lafayette's Blaine Gauthier threw for 355 yards and 4 TDs in a 36-35 win over visiting LA-Monroe.

Gauthier has been one of the nation's better secrets this season. In the last four games, he has thrown for more than 1,100 yards and 11/1. On the season, the junior is an exceptional 17/2 in 230 attempts.
