ULL sophomore RB Alonzo Harris rushed for 120 yards and two touchdowns on 21 carries Saturday against ECU.

Harris had an up and down season from a production standpoint, failing to generate consistent performances. Still, as only a sophomore with a large body for the position, Harris has a few more years to prove his NFL value. This kind of stat line certainly won't hurt.

Louisiana-Lafayette will meet ECU in the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl on December 22.

This contest lacks NFL caliber talent but ULL cornerback Melvin White could top the list along with defensive tackle Cordian Hagans. For ECU, junior linebacker Derrell Johnson could create some pressure off the edge.

Blaine Gautier threw for a New Orleans Bowl record 470 yards in La.-Lafayette’s 32-30 win over San Diego State in the New Orleans Bowl.

Gautier completed 24-of-40 with 3 TDs. The junior's big bowl game enabled him to finish the season with school records for passing yards (2,958) and touchdown passes (23), breaking the single-season marks held by Jake Delhomme.

La.-Lafayette receiver Javone Lawson established career-highs with 9 receptions, 193 yards and 2 TDs in a 32-30 win over San Diego State in the New Orleans.

Lawson topped 100 yards five times in the last eight games and his effort against the Aztecs put him over 1,000 for the season. Lawson caught and 18-yard TD pass in the opening quarter and an 11-yarder in the fourth quarter.

LA-Lafayette's Blaine Gauthier threw for 355 yards and 4 TDs in a 36-35 win over visiting LA-Monroe.

Gauthier has been one of the nation's better secrets this season. In the last four games, he has thrown for more than 1,100 yards and 11/1. On the season, the junior is an exceptional 17/2 in 230 attempts.

Louisiana-Lafayette quarterback Chris Masson took the field against rival Louisiana-Monroe after having missed the last three games due to injury.  Masson finished the game with 330 yards passing, two touchdowns, and a pick.

Blaine Gautier had been playing pretty well but didn't get meaningful snaps against the Warhawks.  Next year, this will be a quarterback battle to keep an eye on.

Louisiana-Lafayette quarterback Chris Masson has been upgraded from doubtful to probable for the game against Florida International.  Masson has been out with a knee injury.

With the play of Blaine Gautier being as good as it is, do not expect Masson to see the field against the Golden Panthers.

Louisiana-Lafayette quarterback Brad McGuire will miss the rest of the season as he undergoes surgery on a torn ligament in his throwing hand.  This will leave the Cajuns with their third string quarterback to start against Florida Atlantic this weekend.

McGuire would have been a good start against the Owls but now you must look elsewhere for a quarterback.

Louisiana-Lafayette quarterback Chris Masson left the game against Ohio with a knee injury but backup Brad McGuire came in and never looked back.  McGuire finished the game on 25-of-39 passing for 384 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception while also rushing for 33 yards.

If Masson is out, the Cajuns have a more than capable backup in McGuire.  From a fantasy perspective, McGuire is only worth a look in deep leagues.

Louisiana-Lafayette quarterback Chris Masson threw for 308 yards and two scores in the loss to Oklahoma State.

Masson now has two consecutive 300-yard games, making him worthy of Sunday morning waiver wire consideration.

Louisiana-Lafayette quarterback Chris Masson lead the Ragin' Cajuns to a close win over North Texas on 16-of-30 passing for 314 yards and two touchdowns.

Masson is a decent passer but will not put up these types of numbers very often.

Louisiana-Lafayette quarterback Brad McGuire (foot) and  tight end Ladarius Green (neck) did not practice on Tuesday.  Both are considered questionable this week against Florida International.

While they have yet to find the end zone, the Cajuns like to throw to the tight ends.  Luke Aubrey is an option if you are desperate.

Louisiana-Lafayette coach Rickey Bustle plans to stick with Chris Masson at quarterback.

Masson, who injured his knee last week against Nebraska, has a week to rest before playing North Texas on Oct. 10.

The starting quarterback position is still up for grabs at Louisiana-Monroe. Brad McGuire and Chris Mason are the two contenders to replace Michael Desormeaux.

We've got McGuire penciled in as the starter, but the eraser is standing by.

Louisiana-Lafayette head coach Rickey Bustle told Joshua Parrott of The Advertiser that sophomore quarterback Brad McGuire would start over Chris Masson if the season started today.

Of course wise fantasy owners know that sadly, the season does not start today. McGuire and Masson are nearly neck and neck in this competition, one that will certainly carry over into the fall.
