Kenny Wallace had the best 10-lap consecutive average speed in the second practice for the Nationwide Series History 300 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

His average of 177.647 mph in the No. 29 was best of the 13 cars that ran 10 consecutive laps on the track for this session. No. 54 Kyle Busch, No. 12 Sam Hornish Jr., No. 20 Brian Vickers and No. 22 Joey Logano are the rest of the top five on this list.

Alex Bowman leads the second practice session for the Nationwide Series History 300 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

His lap of 184.483 mph in the No. 99 Toyota Camry was quickest of the 45 cars out on the track for this session. No. 77 Parker Kligerman, No. 12 Sam Hornish Jr., No. 3 Austin Dillon and No. 5 Kasey Kahne were the rest of the top five on the speed chart. Matt Dibenedetto in the No. 37 was the slowest.

Eddy Wood hope for clear skies this week so his family team can reach a milestone 1,400 Sprint Cup starts, dating back to Glen Wood’s first appearance in NASCAR’s elite division, at Martinsville Speedway on May 17, 1953, driving a 1953 Lincoln.

If it rains and qualifying is cancelled, the team would miss the race. Competing on a limited schedule, they made fewer attempts to qualify for races this season than the other teams not otherwise locked into the starting field. Charlotte would appropriate, as the team got its first superspeedway victory there in the 1960 National 400 with Speedy Thompson at the wheel. Crew chief Donnie Wingo also is hoping the weather works out in the team’s favor, as he and driver Trevor Bayne are looking forward to getting the No. 21 Motorcraft/Quick Lane Ford Fusion back into Sprint Cup action.-Wood Brothers Racing

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. got his first Sprint Cup start at Charlotte in 2011 in the famed No. 21 finishing an impressive 11th-place.

The two-time Nationwide champion earned one of the two transfer spots in the Sprint Showdown to qualify for his first All-Star race last weekend. He finished 16th in the 90-lap showdown. The Car: Chassis RK-827 is the same chassis that the No.17 team ran in Texas cutting a left rear tire early in the race resulting in a 40th-place finish.-Roush Fenway Racing

Bobby Labonte's first NASCAR Sprint Cup Series career win occurred during the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway on May 28, 1995.

His second win at Charlotte, took place on October 8, 2000. He has six runner-up finishes. In 40 starts at the 1.5-mile home track, he has two victories, three poles, 12 top-five and 17 top-10 finishes and has led 807 laps. Jamie McMurray returns to Charlotte Motor Speedway, the site of his first NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) victory, where he has made 21 starts in NSCS competition.

In those 21 starts, the driver of the No. 1 Chevrolet SS has accumulated two wins (2002, 2010), five top-five, eight top-10 finishes and led 238 laps. He has an average start and finish position of 23.1 and 17.6, respectively. His best start at the 1.5-mile oval was fifth in 2002. Kyle Larson has never made a lap at the 1.5-mile quad oval Charlotte Motor Speedway, but he'll have plenty of time to learn before taking the green flag.

Justin Allgaier has nine previous starts at Charlotte Motor Speedway, including his NNS debut, with a best finish of third.

Darlington Recap...Allgaier qualified fifth at Darlington Raceway in the No. 31 Chevrolet Camaro. He was the highest qualifying Chevrolet in the 40-car NNS field. After spending most of Friday night in the top-10 at Darlington Raceway, Allgaier brought his car home in the 10th position. Nelson Piquet Jr. will make his first career NNS start at CMS on Saturday afternoon, having only previously raced at the 1.5-mile track in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.

Greg Biffle has 20 starts in the Cup series at Charlotte, but a win has eluded him.

He has finished in the top-five five times and has eight top-10 finishes. The Car: Chassis RK-849 was brand new when it hit the track in Texas and went on to earn Biffle’s one top-five finish so far this season. Carl Edwards enters the Coca-Cola 600 second in the series points’ standings and will return to Charlotte for his 17th Sprint Cup career start.

In his previous starts, Edwards has five top-five and ten top-10 finishes. His average start is 18.2 and average finish is 12.0. According to NASCAR’s Loop Statistics compiled over the last 16 races, Edwards has turned 118 of the track’s fastest laps, made 632 quality passes (sixth most) and has a driver rating seventh best among active drivers. Elliott Sadler has 12 Nationwide Series starts at the 1.5-mile Charlotte track, with one pole award, four top-five and five top-10 finishes, as well as 16 laps led.

The veteran driver also has NASCAR Sprint Cup Series experience at the track with 25 starts, one pole award, one top-five and three top-10 finishes, as well as 192 laps led.
