Eckes, of Middletown, N.Y., has been a cornerstone of Venturini Motorsports’ Toyota Development Driver lineup since joining the team at the age of 15. His career development will continue over the course of 15-races during the 2018 season. Specific race details will be announced once the official ARCA schedule is released later in the year.

Another change on the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour occurred Wednesday with the announcement that driver Woody Pitkat has parted ways with the No. 46 team headed by Jeff Goodale.

Jeff Goodale told Speed51.com powered by JEGS Wednesday afternoon that the Long Island based team is making a driver change prior to the next Whelen Modified Tour race at Stafford Motor Speedway on August 4. A source close to Speed51 indicated that Long Island driver Craig Lutz is a possible candidate. Goodale told 51 that while it is a possibility, he is not prepared to name a driver at this time.-Speed51.com

One year after his impressive debut with Hendrick Motorsports, the team has named Alex Bowman full-time driver of the No. 88 Chevrolet in the NASCAR Cup Series with a 19-race majority sponsorship from Nationwide beginning in 2018.

Bowman, 24, piloted the No. 88 Chevrolet SS in 10 of the final 18 Cup races last season in place of injured driver Dale Earnhardt Jr. The Tucson, Arizona, native debuted July 17, 2016, at New Hampshire and went on to earn three top-10 finishes with the team including a sixth-place result at Phoenix, where he won the pole position and led a race-high 194 laps. Nationwide’s 19 primary races with Bowman and the team in 2018 will include the season-opening Daytona 500.-Hendrick Motorsports

This is his first victory and seventh top-10 finish in 2017. It is his first victory and fifth top-10 finish in five races at Eldora Speedway. Pole-sitter Stewart Friesen, who led 93 laps and finished the 150-lap event in second place, posted his first top-10 finish in two races at Eldora. It is his first top-10 finish in 2017. Brandon Ward, of Winston-Salem, N.C., has been the driver to beat this season on the Southern Modified Racing Series. Ward has three wins and sits atop the season-long point standings.

Ward’s three victories came in consecutive races; Orange County (March 25), Concord (April 1) and Southern National (April 8). Brandon has enjoyed success in so many forms of racing and that continues this season with the SMRS.

Halfway through the 2017 Southern Modified Racing Series schedule and Concord’s Bobby Measmer Jr. is currently second in the point standings.

With an average finish of better than fourth, Measmer has been a constant front-runner this season on the tour. His finishes: second, sixth, second, fourth, fourth and fifth. It’s not a matter of "if" Measmer wins, it’s a matter of "when" and then "how many". He scored one SMRS victory last year at his home track Concord Speedway; he is a former track champion there.

Jeremy Gerstner of Wesley Chapel, FL currently is third in the season long point standings for the 2017 Southern Modified Racing Series.

He became the eighth driver to win a SMRS race in the series most recent event, a July 1st race at Hickory. In the six races this season, he has five top-five finishes. Gerstner puts a lot of mile on following the SMRS tour as his travel time from Florida to North Carolina is between nine and 10 hours. When not wheeling the No. 15 Shady Grady Racing car on the SMRS tour, Jeremy fields his own car on the Florida Modified Tour.

Byron has picked up one win (Daytona II) and two top-10 finishes on tracks measuring 2.5-miles in length or larger this season.
