David Stremme qualified the No. 30 Swan Racing entry last summer in the Camping World RV Sales 301 at New Hampshire. He finished 20th. He will make his first 2014 start on this track in the No. 33 Joe Falk ride in the Sylvania 300.

Stremme will bring a positive attitude to the team in light of his strong run last year and this team gets support from Richard Childress Racing so they are stronger than many lightly-funded entries, but there are better dark horses in the gate for fantasy owners.

Travis Kvapil will make his fifth consecutive start at New Hampshire in the BK Racing No. 93. His best result in that span of races was a 28th.

The No. 93 BK Racing entry is often used to fill the field, but this pairing at New Hampshire has been fairly productive in the past with three of four previous results ending between 28th and 31st. If they fit the final niche on a roster, they could be one of this week’s best bargain basement values in salary cap games.

Martin Truex Jr. had one of his best finishes this year on the short, flat track of Richmond in the Toyota Owners 400; he finished 10th, which he followed up with a 12th at New Hampshire in another effort on this track type.

For most of 2013 Truex was solid on this track type as well, with six consecutive results of 17th or better. He should be considered a strong dark horse contender to finish in the top 12 for the Sylvania 300, but a 25th-place in Richmond’s second race makes him less than a certainty.

Clint Bowyer had a bad time at Chicagoland in the 400 and also finished in the high 30s at Atlanta, but there is a reason to believe he could rebound this week at New Hampshire—and that can be found in his recent short, flat track record.

Bowyer finished sixth this summer in the Camping World RV Sales 301 and was third two weeks ago in the Federated Auto Parts 400 at Richmond. The No. 15 team apparently has a good baseline setup for flat tracks of one-mile in length or less because Bowyer was also ninth in the Martinsville spring race.

Brad Keselowski is the top-ranked driver for the Sylvania 300 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. His victory this summer in the Camping World RV Sales 301 and back-to-back wins at Richmond and Chicagoland will make him difficult to beat.

Keselowski’s performance on the short, flat tracks of Richmond and New Hampshire could easily be classified as dominant—and even if he fails to win, it is highly unlikely that he will not challenge for at least a top-five.

Ron Hornaday Jr. will return to Camping World Truck Series action thanks to a collaborative effort between a determined sponsor and two team owners.

Rheem has announced they will sponsor Hornaday for the upcoming events on September 27 at Las Vegas as well as October 31 at Texas Motor Speedway. Hornaday, a four-time Truck Series champion, will drive for NTS Motorsports (No. 9 Chevrolet Silverado), which will receive technical support from Richard Childress Racing. Rheem had been sponsoring Hornaday in the No. 30 of Turner Scott Motorsports this season, but a dispute broke out between co-owners Harry Scott Jr. and Steve Turner before the race at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park on Labor Day weekend. Hornaday’s team, which was already in route, was told to turn around and return to the shop before subsequently being shut down.

Corey LaJoie, son of two-time Nationwide champion Randy LaJoie, will make his NASCAR Sprint Cup debut this weekend at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in the Randy Humphrey Motorsports No. 77 Ford Fusion.

LaJoie is a development driver for Richard Petty Motorsports but the team has not found sponsorship to run him. LaJoie has run one Nationwide race this season, placing 21st at Kentucky, and twice in the Camping World Truck Series, finishing 15th at Kentucky and 21st at Bristol. LaJoie is unsure of his plans beyond this week. If things go well, he could be in line for rides with Randy Humphrey Racing at Kansas, Charlotte and Texas. He’s also looking for possible Nationwide rides at Kansas and Charlotte.
