Ryan Newman has nine poles, four top-five finishes and eight top-10s in 22 starts at Charlotte.

Newman’s first career pole came at Charlotte on May 27, 2001, in only his third Sprint Cup start. Although he doesn’t have a points-paying Sprint Cup win at Charlotte, he does have three victories at the home track for most of NASCAR’s teams – an ARCA win (October 2000), a win in the NASCAR All-Star Race (May 2002) and a win in the NASCAR Nationwide Series (October 2005).-True Speed Communication

Michael Annett has six NASCAR Nationwide Series starts at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

His best finish (13th) came in 2009 and his best start (17th) came in 2010 at the 1.5-mile track. Annett heads into this weekend in sixth position in the NASCAR Nationwide Series driver point standings. The Iowa native has completed 897 of 1,173 laps attempted at the track, leading one of them. Denny Hamlin is making his 14th-career points race start at Charlotte on Sunday, and seventh start in the Coke 600.

He owns six top-10 finishes in 13 starts at the 1.5-mile oval, including three-straight dating back to the fall 2010 Charlotte event -- a fourth-place result during his runner-up Chase campaign. In last year’s Coke 600, Hamlin nearly took the checkered flag first after starting third for the final ‘green-white-checkered’ restart, but ran out of fuel at the end of the back straightaway and had to coast to a 10th place finish. Kasey Kahne is set to make his 300th start in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series when he lines up for Sunday’s race at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Nearly every statistical category at Charlotte ranks as a personal best for Kahne, who has competed in 16 Cup events at the 1.5-mile oval. Kahne’s three wins are a personal best, while his six top-five finishes are tied for first with Atlanta and Michigan. Kahne has completed 96.5 percent of laps he has attempted at Charlotte and has led a personal best 711 laps at the track. His 13.4 average finish at Charlotte is his best among tracks where Kahne has run multiple events.

Nationwide Series regular (No. 44) Mike Bliss failed to make the field for the Sprint Cup Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

One of the ‘go-or-go-homers’ required to qualify on speed, he ran a 41st fastest lap in the No. 19 Toyota. This was not good enough to make the cut for the event.

The No. 73 team is outside the top 35 in owners points and not guaranteed a start in this weekend’s Cup race. His qualifying speed was 42nd fastest, which was not good enough to make the cut for the event.

He ran a 45th fastest lap in the No. 49 Toyota. As one of the ‘go-or-go-homers’ required to qualify on speed this was not good enough to make the 43-car field.

He ran a lap of 183.630 mph in the No. 23 Chevrolet. It was 46th quickest. Since the team is outside the top 35 in owners points and required to qualify on speed, he did not make the cut.

Of the teams outside of the top 35 in owner’s points (and not eligible for a former champion’s provisional), his lap of 190.268 mph in the No. 21 was the fastest. His qualifying speed puts him 13th in the lineup for the event.

He ran a fast lap of 181.080 in the No. 88 Chevrolet. No. 54 Kyle Busch, No. 3 Austin Dillon, No. 21 Joey Coulter and No. 20 Joey Logano rounded out the top five of the 43 cars out on the track. The No. 23, driven by Robert Richardson Jr., was the slowest in the final practice session.
