Richard Childress Racing has named Slugger Labbe to a leading role in their research and development efforts, which will be effective following the NASCAR race weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway later this month.

Justin Alexander, currently a race engineer on the No. 27 Menards Chevrolet team, will take over the crew chief role with Paul Menard as the driver. Alexander started his NASCAR career at Hendrick Motorsports as the shock specialist for the No. 24 and No. 48 teams in 2003, became lead engineer on the No. 48 team in 2005, moved to a R&D engineer in 2006 and then was named lead engineer for the No. 24 team in 2009. During his tenure there, Alexander was part of five NASCAR Sprint Cup Series championships. He joined RCR in January of this year.-Richard Childress Racing

Kansas Speedway – a 1.5-mile tri-oval – is another track Chase Elliott has never seen from inside a race car before.

That has yet to slow him down this season, as the Dawsonville, Ga. native has won three times at tracks he’d previously never driven (Texas Motor Speedway, Darlington Raceway, and Chicagoland Speedway). With five races to go in the season, besides leading the NNS championship standings by 26 points over JRM teammate Regan Smith, Elliott also leads Ty Dillon by 55 points in the Sunoco Rookie of the Year standings.-JR Motorsports

Following an eighth-place finish at Dover last weekend, Regan Smith reached a new milestone by notching his 50th career top-10 finish in Nationwide Series competition.

Since 2012, Smith has earned 44 of his 50 top-10s driving for JR Motorsports. Additionally, he still leads all NNS regulars with 24 top-10 finishes this season. Smith earned a third-place finish at Kansas Speedway last season, leading a career-high 81 laps on the day. He will drive chassis No. 893 this weekend at Kansas. Smith piloted this chassis to top-10 finishes in all three of its starts in 2014 (Atlanta, Chicagoland II and Indianapolis).-JR Motorsports

Sprint Cup regular (No. 4 Chevrolet SS) Kevin Harvick owns one win (2006), five top-five and six top-10 finishes, as well as one pole award, in nine career Nationwide Series starts at Kansas Speedway.

This will be Harvick’s first Nationwide Series start (in JRM's No. 5 Chevrolet Camaro) at the track since the 2012 repave. In the past two NASCAR Sprint Cup Series events at Kansas, Harvick earned back-to-back pole awards and a win (October 2013) to go along with 257 laps led. 1.5-MILE WIN STREAK: Harvick has gone to victory lane in his past three Nationwide Series starts on 1.5-mile tracks – Kentucky Speedway (June 27), Atlanta Motor Speedway (Aug. 30) and Chicagoland Speedway (Sept. 13). This weekend marks Spencer Gallagher's fourth appearance at Kansas Speedway since 2011.

The Las Vegas, Nev., driver earned a seventh-place finish in last year’s race, his career-best at the track. He will pilot Chassis No. 664 in the ARCA 98.9. He last started this car at Pocono Raceway in both of the 2013 ARCA Racing Series events. He last drove this Chevrolet to a fifth-place finish after qualifying 16th at Pocono Raceway on August 2, 2013. Grant Enfinger will pilot chassis No. 200 in the ARCA 98.9 at Kansas Speedway.

This chassis has unloaded this season at Michigan, Chicagoland Speedway, Pocono Raceway, and at Kentucky Speedway. Enfinger last started this car at Kentucky Speedway on September 19 (qualified 12th and finished 30th). This is Enfinger's fifth appearance at the 1.5-mile track. In the three events that the Fairhope, Ala. native completed every lap, he finished third each time. He earned three top-five finishes and three top-10 finishes, with an average starting position of 19.8 and an average finishing position of 11.2 at the track.-GMS Racing

This weekend's NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Kansas Speedway is the first race of the year at the one-and-a-half mile track, but both Dakoda Armstrong and the No. 43 WinField team has proven successful at Kansas.

Armstrong has a total of four starts at the track in different racing series, including one start in the Nationwide Series in 2013 where he finished 19th. After two starts in the truck series, Armstrong has an average finish of 13.5. He also has an 11th place-finish from an ARCA start in 2010.-Breaking Limits

Saturday October 4th will mark the return of the NASCAR Nationwide Series race at Kansas Speedway for the Kansas Lottery 300, and a ritual return home for Kansas City, Kansas native Jennifer Jo Cobb.

Cobb will drive the Rick Ware Racing #87 Mark One Electric Chevrolet. She contends in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) in the #10 Chevrolet Silverado. She is one of 2 drivers in 2014 who does not have a Did Not Finish for this season. She currently sits 16th in NCWTS Driver Points Standings for 2014. In addition, she has broken records for females in the series including the highest points finisher in 2010, the highest race finisher (6th at Daytona) in 2011 and is the NCWTS all time record holder for most race starts by a female driver.-Cobb Racing

Eric McClure will reach a milestone in his racing career this weekend at Kansas Speedway. Saturday's event will mark his 250th-career Nationwide Series race.

His first race in the series dates back to 2003 where he competed at Rockingham Speedway. He posted a 26th-place finish that day in a Chevrolet prepared by his family's Sprint Cup Series team (Morgan McClure Motorsports). He will make his eighth start at Kansas Speedway this weekend. He first competed at the 1.5-mile speedway in 2007, his first full-time year in the Nationwide Series. His best finish at the track came in 2012; he finished 15th. Athenian Motorsports announced veteran NASCAR crew chief Mike Ford has joined the team as the crew chief for the #25 Zaxby's NASCAR Nationwide Series Toyota Camry with driver John Wes Townley.

Mike Ford has more than 20 years in NASCAR and has worked as a NASCAR Sprint Cup crew chief since 2000. In late 2012, he moved to BK Racing as the Director of Competition where he remained until joining Athenian Motorsports. Trevor Bayne makes his fourth NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) start at Kansas Speedway on Saturday afternoon.

In three previous starts at the 1.5-mile oval, Bayne has recorded two top-10 finishes, with a best finish of ninth in the 2011 and 2013 events. In 40 career starts on 1.5-mile tracks in the NNS, Bayne has recorded one win, 10 top-five finishes, 18 top-10 finishes and has an average finish of 11.2. Brendan Gaughan will be making his third NASCAR Nationwide Series start Saturday afternoon at Kansas Speedway.

During the Las Vegas-natives last visit to the 1.5-mile tri-oval in 2010, he qualified 22nd and finished ninth. Gaughan also has nine NASCAR Camping World Truck Series starts at Kansas Speedway. Ty Dillon will be making his Nationwide Series debut at the 1.5-mile Kansas Speedway in this weekend's 300 mile event.

He has two NASCAR Camping World Truck Series starts at Kansas, recording top-10 finishes in both starts. He will use chassis No. 145, the same one he raced at Kentucky Speedway where he qualified on the pole, led 155 laps and finished third. Dillon also drove chassis No. 145 to victory lane earlier this season at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Scott has two NASCAR Camping World Truck Series starts earning one top-five and one top-10 finish, three laps led, an average starting position of 9.0 and an average finishing position of 8.5.
