Joey Logano is the only driver who has swept the top five on the short, flat tracks of Phoenix, Martinsville, and Richmond this year.

Logano got off to a strong start with fourth-place finishes at Phoenix in the Profit 500k and Martinsville in the STP 500. He won the Toyota Owners 400 at Richmond, so fantasy players will want to give him another start this week and expect a solid top-five finish.
Jul 10 - 5:49 PM

In three starts on short, flat tracks, Alex Bowman has gotten progressively better with a 41st at Phoenix, a 36th at Martinsville, and a 28th at Richmond.

This is precisely how rookies should progress and it puts Bowman on the fantasy radar screen. If he finishes in the top 25 this week he could be fantasy relevant when the series returns to New Hampshire in September for the next races on this track type.
Jul 10 - 5:48 PM

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. got off to a strong start on short, flat tracks this year with an 18th at Phoenix, but his latest two efforts at Martinsville and Richmond have both been outside the top 35.

Stenhouse will be difficult to handicap this week because of inconsistent performances on this track type last year as well as in 2014. He scored a 10th at Richmond and a 12th at Phoenix in 2013, but had several results outside the top 20 that will minimize his appeal.
Jul 10 - 5:46 PM

Tony Stewart finished second and first in New Hampshire’s two races of 2011 and hopes to have some of that same strength this year.

Remarkably, that was the second time he finished first and second at New Hampshire during a single season, having performed the feat already in 2005. He also finished first and second in back-to-back races at the end of 1999 and beginning of 2000. Unfortunately, he finished 26th in this race last year before missing the fall event due to injury, so he should be regarded only as a driver to watch.
Jul 10 - 4:44 PM

In three short, flat track races this season, David Gilliland has finished in the 20s at Phoenix, Martinsville, and Richmond.

His consistency should make him a good mid-range pick and his recent bad luck at Daytona could make other fantasy owners overlook him. In addition to three 20-something results on short, flat tracks this year, Gilliland also finished in the low 20s at Martinsville and Phoenix last fall.
Jul 10 - 4:42 PM

Matt Kenseth was one of five drivers who swept the top 10 at New Hampshire last year with a ninth in the summer and a victory in the fall.

Kenseth had much more momentum when he came to New Hampshire for last year’s Camping World RV Sales 301 and could manage to finish only ninth. This year, it is much more likely he will finish in the low- to mid-teens like he did in both 2012 events.
Jul 10 - 4:41 PM

Woody Pitkat (No. 88 Buzz Chew Chevrolet/Elbow East Chevrolet) has a pole and 38 top 10s in 83 career NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour starts.

Jul 10 - 4:33 PM

Ryan Reed visits New Hampshire Motor Speedway for the first time in his NASCAR Nationwide Series career.

Recapping Daytona: Reed earned his career-best NNS finish last Friday night under the lights at Daytona. He ran a strong race and avoided multiple late-race accidents, piloting his No. 16 Ford Mustang into fourth at the checkered flag. With his fourth-place finish at Daytona International Speedway, Reed is eligible in New Hampshire for the Dash 4 Cash. If Reed places above Regan Smith, Ryan Sieg or Jeremy Clements, he will bring home a $100,000 bonus.-Roush Fenway Racing
Jul 10 - 4:29 PM

Donny Lia (No. 4 Mystic Missile Racing Dodge) the 2007 and 2009 NWMT champion has 17 wins, 19 poles and 74 top 10s in 146 career NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour starts.

Ranks 12th in points with a pair of top 10s and a best result of second at Waterford Speedbowl. Owner of two wins, a pole, eight top fives and an average finish of 13th in 18 career New Hampshire Motor Speedway starts. Both of his wins came in the summer events of his championship-winning seasons. Has a best finish of 12th (Sept. 2010) in three career NASCAR Camping World Truck Series starts at NHMS.-NWMT

Jul 10 - 4:22 PM

Cole Whitt will make his first New Hampshire Cup start this week. Fantasy players will need to determine his fantasy relevance based on performances in other short, flat track races at the Cup level.

Whitt has not been great on the short, flat tracks of Phoenix, Martinsville, and Richmond with an average finish of 34.4. His best effort of 27th came in the Profit 500k at Phoenix earlier this year, however, and that could bode well for another top-30 finish in the Camping World RV Sales 301.
Jul 10 - 3:39 PM

Eric Goodale (No. 58 GAF Roofing/RBSCorp.com Chevrolet) has a win, a pole and 30 top 10s in 78 career NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour starts.

Inherited the NWMT’s active starts streak lead, now at 76 races, when Ed Flemke Jr. did not run the 2014 opener. Ranks eighth in points after five events. His first career victory was earned last time out at Riverhead Raceway. Has four top 10s, an average finish of 15th and a best result of seventh (Sept. 2013) in 11 career New Hampshire Motor Speedway starts.-NWMT
Jul 10 - 3:38 PM

Kurt Busch’s single victory of this season came on a short, flat track. He passed Jimmie Johnson late in the STP 500 to win at Martinsville.

Unfortunately that victory is surrounded by 20-something results on the other two short, flat tracks of Phoenix and Richmond. Busch has been inconsistent for most of 2014, which makes him a difficult driver to pick for this week’s Camping World RV Sales 301 roster.
Jul 10 - 3:37 PM

Doug Coby (No. 2 Dunleavy’s Repair/HEX Performance Chevrolet) the 2012 NWMT champion has 10 wins, four poles and 71 top 10s in 148 career NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour starts.

Is the season points leader by seven tallies on Bobby Santos. Won the non-points UNOH Battle At The Beach on the short track at Daytona International Speedway in February and recorded podiums in the first three regular season races, including a win at Stafford Motor Speedway in June. Has two wins (Sept. 2012, July 2013), a pole, 11 top 10s and an average finish of 14th in 21 career starts at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.-NWMT
Jul 10 - 3:36 PM

Kyle Busch failed to win either New Hampshire race last year, but he could not have come any closer with runner-up finishes in both the Camping World RV Sales 301 and Sylvania 300.

Before fantasy players get too excited about his odds this week, however, they should note that he has only one other top-five in his previous 10 New Hampshire races. He should be considered a provisionally good pick pending the outcome of practice and qualification to be started only if he excels in these sessions.
Jul 10 - 3:36 PM

Ben Rhodes (No. 41 Chevrolet) is at the top of the speed chart in the final practice leading to the K&N PS-East Granite State 100 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon, NH.

He put up a 129.160 mph lap in the final practice. No. 52 Matt Tifft, No. 98 Cameron Hayley, No. 97 Jesse Little and No. 34 Scott Heckert are the rest of the top five and No. 63 John Salemi was the slowest of the 31 cars running in this final session.
Jul 10 - 3:34 PM

The Granite State 100 from New Hampshire Motor Speedway will mark the second time Ronnie Bassett Jr. (No. 04 Toyota) will make a start at the famed 1.05-mile speedway, with his first career start resulting in a 10th-place finish.

In the past six NASCAR K&N Pro Series East races, Bassett Jr. has three top-five finishes and five top-10 finishes dating all the way back to Greenville Pickens Speedway, where he recorded a season-best result of second. He fell from the 8th position to the 10th position in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East driver point standings after a brake failure and a 20th-place finish at Langley Speedway.-Bassett Racing PR
Jul 10 - 3:28 PM

Ted Christopher (No. 13 J&R Pre-Cast/Cape Cod Aggregates Chevrolet) the 2008 NWMT champion has 42 wins, 24 poles and 186 top 10s in 340 career NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour starts.

His 42 wins rank third all-time and his 24 poles are eighth. Is looking to end a 34-race winless drought. Has top 10s in all five races this year with his new team, including podiums the last two times out. Has five wins, five poles, 27 top 10s, a record 809 laps led and an average finish of 14th in 49 career New Hampshire Motor Speedway NWMT starts. His five NWMT wins, combined with five NASCAR K&N Pro Series East victories, has him tied for the NHMS track record at 10 with Mike Stefanik. Has also made five NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and four NASCAR Nationwide Series starts at NHMS.-NWMT
