Returning to the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour full-time this year, Ryan Preece was itching to get back into Victory Lane.

He accomplished that goal Sunday in the 46th running of the NAPA Spring Sizzler at Stafford Motor Speedway. He took the lead from race leader Doug Coby with 13 laps to go and drove away with his first career Spring Sizzler victory behind the wheel of his No. 6 TS Haulers Chevrolet.

Boca Raton, Florida's Dalton Sargeant settled into his own zip code Sunday afternoon at Salem Speedway, and put a major-league whooping on the field to win the Kentuckiana Ford Dealers ARCA 200.

Sargeant, who was himself a lap down at one point, got four fresh General Tires under caution late in the going and checked out from there to earn his second career ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards victory. In the end, Sargeant, in the No. 77 Big Tine Ford, was the only driver to complete all 200 laps.

For the second week in a row, Martin Truex Jr. had a late-race penalty, but he overcame his setback and finished 10th in the Toyota Owners 400 at Richmond International Raceway.

Truex was sent to the back of the pack for a commitment line violation following a lap-367 caution. Last week, a late-race speeding penalty cost him a shot at winning Bristol Motor Speedway’s Food City 500; he finished eighth on that bullring. Despite these problems, Truex should be regarded as a driver who is improving his short track performance.
Apr 30 - 7:30 PM

Aric Almirola spent only a dozen or so laps in the top 10 Sunday in the Toyota Owners 400 at Richmond International Raceway, but one of them was the final trip around the track and it gave him a ninth-place finish.

This was the first time since the Daytona International Speedway that Almirola finished in the top 10. One had the sense that there was a little more potential in the Richard Petty Motorsports car and now that they have cracked this mark, they might be able to record top-15s with greater frequency.
Apr 30 - 7:23 PM

Kurt Busch lost his cool suit early during an extremely hot race, but stayed in the front half of the Toyota Owners 400 pack all day before finishing eighth at Richmond International Raceway.

Busch’s average running position was 13.074, but in a field that seesawed that was good enough for seventh on that chart. It does not quite make Busch a favorite on the next unrestricted, intermediate speedway, but this effort certainly does not hurt his handicap.
Apr 30 - 7:13 PM

Ryan Newman stretched his tires longer than anyone else about three-fourths of the way through the Toyota Owners 400 at Richmond International Raceway and took advantage of that track position to ultimately finish seventh.

Newman was running outside the top 10 when most of the field pitted between laps 316 and 322. He stayed on track for another 20+ laps and was in danger of losing a lap if he had been forced to pit at that point. A caution for an incident involving Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Jimmie Johnson saved him. Drivers with victories to their credit can gamble and sometimes it pays off.
Apr 30 - 7:03 PM

Jamie McMurray finished sixth in the Toyota Owners 400 at Richmond International Raceway after starting the race 10th.

McMurray is still searching for his first top-five of the season, but this is his fifth top-10 in eight races on unrestricted tracks. He also has another pair of top-15s, making him one of the most consistent drivers in the field.
Apr 30 - 6:55 PM

It took seven races for Kevin Harvick to earn a top-five at Texas Motor Speedway. With his fifth-place result in the Toyota Owners 400, he has now stacked three on top of one another.

Harvick is closing in on a win, but more important for fantasy players is his ability to run consistently. It is time to start handicapping him by the numbers again regardless of his position in the points.
Apr 30 - 6:04 PM

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. stayed out on old tires during the final pit stop at Richmond International Raceway and finished fourth in the Toyota Owners 400.

Stenhouse was the highest finisher of five drivers who gambled on old rubber. Notably, this is his fourth top-10 of the year and each of his strong runs have a connection with Richmond. He finished fourth at Phoenix and 10th at Martinsville Speedway. Both of those tracks are minimally banked and one-mile or less in length, like RIR. He finished ninth last week at Bristol Motor Speedway—another short track.
Apr 30 - 5:58 PM

Denny Hamlin finished third in the Toyota Owners 400 at Richmond International Raceway to earn his first top-five of the 2017 season.

One has to look back to last fall and the Goody’s Fast Relief 500 at Martinsville Speedway to find another top-five. Notably, that is another short, flat track in the state of Virginia. One week previous, he had another top-five at Talladega, which is the site of next week’s race.
Apr 30 - 5:56 PM

Brad Keselowski finished second in the Toyota Owners 400 at Richmond International Raceway by .775 seconds to his teammate Joey Logano.

Keselowski had the better car, but he was caught behind slower traffic on the last restart. By the time he managed to get around the cars that gambled on old tires, Logano had too much of an advantage. After starting 15th, he added 14 place-differential points to his total.
Apr 30 - 5:43 PM

Joey Logano was forced to the back of the field to start the Toyota Owners 400 at Richmond International Raceway, but it could not keep him from winning Sunday April 30.

Logano was officially credited with a fifth-place start, but the team had to replace a transmission and start last. It took about 70 laps for him to climb into the top 10, but he had to bide his time after that. A gamble to stay out on old tires on the next to last caution period gave him track position. He then pitted on the final stop and swept around five drivers who gambled late.
Apr 30 - 5:38 PM

It's been 10 years since Travis Miller took a shot at Salem (IN) Speedway. It's like he never left.

Miller, in the No. 28 MDM Motorsports Toyota, was fastest in ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards practice Saturday afternoon at Salem. With General Tire Pole Qualifying rained out, that will bode well for the rookie driver considering Saturday's practice speeds will set the starting line-up for Sunday afternoon's Kentuckiana Ford Dealers 200, putting Miller on the Pole.
Apr 29 - 9:34 PM

Doug Coby captured the Coors Light Pole Award on Saturday for the NAPA Spring Sizzler 200 at Stafford Motor Speedway.

With a fast lap of 17.896 seconds (100.581 mph), Coby broke the track record at the half-mile oval, one that was previously held by Ryan Preece. The pole was the 20th career for the Milford, Conn. native and also his ninth at Stafford. Coby will lead the field to green behind the wheel of his Mayhew Tools No. 2. Todd Szegedy qualified second and will join Coby on the front row for Sunday's 200 lap main event.
Apr 29 - 9:17 PM

Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series regular Kyle Larson (No. 42 Chevrolet SS), driving the No. 42 Credit One Bank Chevrolet Camaro, won the ToyotaCare 250, his seventh victory in 96 NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) races.

This is his second NXS victory and fifth top-10 finish in 2017. It is his first victory and third top-10 finish in five NXS races at Richmond International Raceway (RIR). Justin Allgaier (second) posted his fifth top-10 finish in 13 races at RIR and his fourth top-10 finish in 2017. Pole-sitter Daniel Hemric (finished third) posted his first top-10 finish at RIR in his first start at the track. Hemric (third) was the highest finishing rookie. Elliott Sadler (finished seventh) leads the point standings by 41 points over Justin Allgaier.
