Andy Seuss (No. 11 Northeast Race Cars/Ideal Finance Chevrolet) leads the lone practice for the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour Charles Kepley Memorial 150 at Caraway Speedway.

The 15.748 second lap was the quickest of the 19 cars out on the track for the practice session. No. 6 Ryan Preece, No. 5 Kyle Ebersole, No. 28 George Brunnhoelzl III and No. 79 Spencer Davis are the rest of the top five on the speed chart. No. 12 Mike Norman was the slowest.

Ryan Partridge leads the first practice for the K&NPS-West NAPA Auto Parts 150 at Kern County Raceway Park in Bakersfield, California.

An 18.243 second lap in the No. 9 Ford was the quickest of the 25 cars out on the track for the first practice session. No. 17 David Mayhew, No. 21 Alex Schutte, No. 8 John Borneman and No. 16 Brandon McReynolds are the rest of the top five on the speed chart. No. 38 Rob Powers was the slowest.
Mar 28 - 3:32 PM

Kurt Busch posted the fastest single lap in final practice with a speed of 97.098 mph. Busch also reportedly had the second quickest 10-lap average.

Busch is going to have his work cut out for him on Sunday because he qualified only 26th for the STP 500. He can get the job accomplished, however, because he started 22nd in last year’s edition of this same race en route to Victory Lane.

Sprint Cup regular Joey Logano wins the Keystone Light Pole Award for the Kroger 250 with a lap of 19.504 seconds, 97.088 mph.

This is the No. 29 Cooper Standard Ford F-150 driver's first pole in seven NASCAR Camping World Truck Series races. It is his first NCWTS pole and first top-10 start in 2015. Logano also won the Coors Light Pole Award yesterday for Sunday's NASCAR Sprint Cup Series STP 500 with a lap of 19.232 seconds, 98.461 mph driving his regular No. 22 Shell Pennzoil Ford Fusion.
Mar 28 - 12:50 PM

Aric Almirola had an extremely active practice on Saturday morning. He nudged Jeff Gordon and door-slammed David Ragan in the first 10 minutes of the session.

Drivers have to work just as hard in practice as they do in race trim in order to find that little extra they will need on Sunday. Almirola’s fastest lap in that session was 96.470 mph, which was 13th-best.
Mar 28 - 12:15 PM

Jimmie Johnson posted the second-quickest 10-lap average in Saturday morning’s practice session and had the second-fastest lap. His average speed was 96.084 mph from laps 34 through 43; his fastest lap was 96.988.

Johnson will roll off the grid fifth in Sunday’s race and should remain in the top five all afternoon. Track position at the end will dictate the winner, but Johnson will be in contention.
Mar 28 - 12:11 PM

Jeff Gordon posted the quickest 10-lap average in Saturday morning’s practice session. His top speed was 96.261 mph from laps 41 through 50. That speed was faster than all but 17 drivers’ fastest laps.

One of the factors that makes Gordon so good at Martinsville is his ability to pace himself. Gordon also had the third-fastest lap at 96.884 mph in this session, so he should have short run speed as well if the race becomes a shootout at the end.
Mar 28 - 12:06 PM

Denny Hamlin posted the fastest single lap in the Saturday morning practice session. His top speed was 97.113 mph.

Martinsville has traditionally been one of Hamlin’s best tracks and he should be strong this week, but he has struggled on short, flat tracks lately. He qualified 15th for the STP 500, which is his worst effort in his last nine Martinsville attempts.
Mar 28 - 10:59 AM

A sixth-place qualification effort on Friday could be the signal of a reversal of fortune for Tony Stewart. Last fall he finished fourth on this track after qualifying fourth.

Most of Stewart’s top-10s at Martinsville came in groupings of two to four consecutive, so fantasy owners who like to play the odds might see this as a good omen.
Mar 28 - 12:33 AM

Danica Patrick scored her second-best Martinsville start in Friday’s qualification session. She will roll off the grid 16th for Sunday’s STP 500.

Patrick’s best start came in this race last year, but she lost six laps during the afternoon and finished only 32nd. She showed some signs of strength on the flat half-miler as a rookie, however, with a 12th and 17th in Martinsville’s two races.
Mar 28 - 12:32 AM

Justin Allgaier completed all 1,000 laps of competition last year; he finished 23rd in the spring and was 17th in the fall.

This makes him a great alternative to some other bargain-priced drivers in salary cap games and should place him on a large number of rosters.
Mar 28 - 12:31 AM

Joey Logano posted a lap of 98.461 mph and grabbed the pole for the STP 500. It is the 10th pole of his career and his first at Martinsville.

The final stall leaving pit road is critical on this short track and that is going to be good for a couple of positions in race conditions. Barring any accident or penalties, Logano is favored to finish in the top five.
Mar 27 - 7:13 PM

Cole Custer leads the lone NASCAR Camping World Truck Series practice session at Martinsville Speedway.

He ran a quick lap of 96.068 mph in the No. 00 Haas Automation Chevrolet Silverado. No. 13 Cameron Hayley, No. 98 Johnny Sauter, No. 29 Joey Logano and No. 19 Tyler Reddick round out the top five of the 36 trucks practicing for the Kroger 250. Charles Buchanan Jr. in the No. 87 Ford F-150 was the slowest. Custer also had the fastest 10-lap average speed (94.293 mph) among the 31 trucks that ran 10 consecutive laps on the track for this session.
Mar 27 - 7:11 PM

Casey Mears broke a transmission in the second round of qualification and will roll off the grid 24th. He will need to change his drive train, however, and that will drop him to the back of the pack.

It does not take long for drivers to get lapped on the 0.526-mile track. Mears has to be considered a long shot to even finish in the top 20.
Mar 27 - 6:59 PM

Justin Allgaier advanced to the second round of qualification, but he wanted a little more. He crashed in that session and will qualify 21st.

His official position once qualification winds up may not matter because he has every sign of needing to go to a backup.
