It was fitting, perhaps, that the Bumper To Bumper 300 was determined by a bumper Sunday. Alex Labbe culminated a late charge to the finish with a bump-and-run pass on Kevin Lacroix, on the final corner of the final lap at Riverside International Speedway.

This win is the fourth of the season for the Victoriaville, Quebec driver, and his first win on the high-banked third-mile oval. Lacroix, who led the most laps and dominated throughout the entire race, still managed to finish second. In a post-race act of displeasure, Kevin Lacroix slammed into the driver's side door of Labbe's No.32 Can-Am/ Kappa Ford sending Labbe spinning and Lacroix airborne. D.J Kennington who started the race from the pole after rain washed out qualifying Saturday and postponed the race a day, finished third picking up his fourth podium finish of the season.

Austin Theriault, in his first ever dirt track appearance, showed his fellow comrades how it's done, at least so far anyway.

Theriault, in Ken Schrader's No. 52 Ford, won the General Tire Pole Sunday afternoon at the Illinois State Fairgrounds mile dirt, circling the famous fairgrounds track in 33.768 seconds (106.610 mph). Theriault's boss and car owner Ken Schrader is here in Springfield today. "Having Ken Schrader here is a really big help. I'm a pavement guy. Just goes to show what kind of team we have. This car has already won twice this year. I'm really excited. Since my first lap in practice, I've had a smile on my face."

Rubén García Jr. (No. 88 Farmacias del Ahorro/Hdi Toyota) won the pole for Sunday's NASCAR Peak Mexico Series Chedraui 120 at Autódromo del Ecocentro de la Unión Ganadera in Querétaro, Mexico but will have to drop to the rear for the green flag.

After qualifying, an inspection found an improper air hose running to the carburetor of his Toyota. This would give an advantage in horsepower. His penalty is starting the race at the rear of the field instead of leading the cars to the green flag.

Alpine, California's Sheldon Creed has never raced an ARCA car on a dirt track but you'd never know it. The Lucas Oil Stadium Super Truck champion was fastest in practice Sunday morning at the Illinois State Fairgrounds in Mason Mitchell's No. 78 Chevrolet.

Creed, in his first Springfield appearance, circled the dirt oval in 33.359 seconds, an average speed of 107.917 mph. Tyler Dippel, a dirt modified veteran, was right at home at Springfield, coming in with the second fastest speed at 107.325 mph. Grant Enfinger, making a special appearance in the Allgaier Motorsports-prepared entry, was third-fastest in the No. 16 car. The NASCAR Truck full-time racer won back-to-back ARCA races on the DuQuoin dirt, but never at Springfield.

Ryan Blaney finished 10th at Bristol Motor Speedway, which was his ninth top-10 of the season.

Blaney has some solid runs, but so far this year he has been unable to back up one top-10 with another in the following week. He has a chance to break that negative streak next week at Darlington Raceway.

Kevin Harvick earned his fifth consecutive top-10 at Bristol Motor Speedway when he crossed under the checkers eighth Saturday night.

Consistency is often more important than raw power and Harvick was one of our top picks in the week’s Daily Fantasy Sports preview. After starting deep in the pack in 29th, he added 22 place-differential points to his total and helped fulfill his potential.

Trevor Bayne finished seventh in the Bass Pro Shops NRA Night Race at Bristol after starting 20th and was one of this week’s top fantasy dark horses.

Bayne has only one previous top-10 on this track and may have flown under the radar. He entered with a four-race, top-15 streak, however, and should have been on astute players’ radar screens.
Aug 19 - 11:07 PM

Ryan Newman finished sixth in the Bass Pro Shops NRA Night Race at Bristol Motor Speedway after starting the evening 13th.

That was Newman’s seventh finish of 16th or better in his last eight Bristol attempts. Fantasy players who were counting on his consistency were well-rewarded.

Kurt Busch has had a seesaw record at Bristol for the past six years and he ended the 2017 Bass Pro Shops NRA Night Race at Bristol Motor Speedway on the high side of the seesaw.

In that span of races, Busch has finished outside the top 10 twice and inside that mark once in three-race arrays. That pattern repeated itself this week and Busch wound up fifth.

Aug 19 - 10:48 PM

Erik Jones finished second in the Bass Pro Shops NRA Night Race at Bristol after leading the field to green from his first pole.

Jones had the best car for periods of the race, leading 260 of the 500 laps. He got caught in traffic and lost spots to the eventual winner Kyle Busch and the driver he will replace at Joe Gibbs Racing next year, Matt Kenseth. Jones chased Busch down and closed to within about a half with a handful of laps remaining. Jones failed to win, but he was the top values in most fantasy games.

For only the second time in NASCAR history, a driver has swept Victory Lane in all three major divisions—and both of those records belong to Kyle Busch. He won the Bass Pro Shops NRA Night Race at Bristol Motor Speedway on the heels of victories in Camping World Truck Series and the Xfinity Series.

Busch took the lead from Erik Jones in heavy traffic and pulled away to a more-than one-second lead for a while. He lost some ground in traffic but clean air at the end of the race allowed him to get a gap of 1.422 seconds. Busch’s previous sweep of all three series came in 2010.

Salvador De Alba Jr. (No. 48 Sidral Aga Racing-Red Cola Toyota) led the lone practice for Sunday's NASCAR Peak Mexico Series Chedraui 120 at Autódromo del Ecocentro de la Unión Ganadera in Mexico.
