If experience is key to success at Martinsville Speedway, Matt Crafton is a sure bet.

The Tulare, Calif. native has more series starts (25) at the .526-mile track than any other driver entered into the 32nd annual event, and has completed the most laps around the Virginia track (5,552). Since 2001, the Menards driver has recorded one win (March, 2014), one pole (October, 2011), five top-five and 13 top-10 finishes.-ThorSport Racing

When Brad Keselowski was run over by Kurt Busch on pit road at Martinsville this spring is caused enough damage to drop Keselowski off the lead lap. He finished 38th in the STP 500, which snapped a four-race streak of top-10s.

Having barely made his way into the Eliminator round of the playoffs, Keselowski is going to be highly focused on running well this week and that should make the difference between contending for a top-10 and the victory.
Oct 22 - 7:07 PM

Martinsville represents Jeff Gordon’s best chance to win during the Eliminator round. He has eight victories on this track with the most recent coming in this race last year.

Gordon swept the top five on this track in 2013 and probably would have added another in the spring if not for damage sustained in an accordion-style accident early in the STP 500. If he misses, it will probably be by a narrow margin and he should finish in the top five.
Oct 22 - 7:07 PM

Clint Bowyer has the longest active streak of top-10s at Martinsville. He has finished that well in his last five races, including a ninth this spring.

Bowyer swept the top five in 2013 and had another fifth-place finish at the end of 2012. If his STP 500 attempt last year is an indication, he is capable of challenging for a victory because he finished second to Johnson in that event. Altogether, that makes him a great pick in most games.
Oct 22 - 6:36 PM

Jimmie Johnson is the top-ranked driver for the Goody's 500 Martinsville Speedway. He enters the weekend with two victories, a fifth, and a second in his last four races there.

What a difference a week makes. Johnson was knocked out of playoff contention with poor finishes at Kansas, Charlotte, and Talladega. If he wins this week, it will in his new unaccustomed role as Chase spoiler.

When a driver makes a switch from a full-bodied stock car to a modified car, one of the best things he can do is partner up with an established team to help him with his learning curve of competing in a drastically different car.

Spencer Davis made the wise decision to team up with Hillbilly Racing and veteran car owner/crew chief David Hill and it paid immediate dividends in the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour as Davis won the 2014 Sunoco Rookie of the Year Award. Davis finished the season with seven top-10 finishes in 14 races on the southern tour and ended up ninth in the final standings which made the 15-year old driver happy. Davis also made four starts in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour and finished with back-to-back top-10s, highlighted by a season-best seventh-place showing at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park this past Sunday in the season finale.
