Free agent Chris Douglas-Roberts recently worked out for the Heat, who are also interested in Leandro Barbosa and Jordan Crawford.

CDR has been linked to Miami for the past month, so they're obviously in no rush to add him. His best-case scenario in Miami would be backing up Dwyane Wade as part of a platoon with Danny Granger and Reggie Williams, and fantasy owners would do well to ignore the five-year veteran in standard formats.

Gerald Henderson admitted that he had an "up-and-down" 2013-14 season, but he's ready to compete for playing time in the Hornets' crowded wing rotation.

The five-year veteran started all 77 games in which he played last year, but shot only 43.3 percent from the field. Lance Stephenson is a lock to start at SG which leaves Henderson battling Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and Jeff Taylor for the SF job, where he has played one-fifth of his minutes throughout his career. The additional presence of Gary Neal and rookie P.J. Hairston makes it questionable whether Henderson can match last year's 32.0 minutes per game, something fantasy owners should keep in mind on draft day.

The Hornets are reportedly putting together a bid to host the 2017 or 2018 All-Star game.

Commissioner Adam Silver has said that the likelihood of Charlotte securing an All-Star game would be dependent upon certain upgrades to the arena. "It’s part of the understanding here that the building remain state of the art," Silver said. "Nothing dramatic is needed. But certainly an upgrade to the scoreboard, some things with the suites and the lighting." It's expected that the Hornets will make a formal announcement of their pursuit during their news conference scheduled for Tuesday.

P.J. Hairston's court case for assault charges in Durham will continue to Sept. 12.

That would mean if he has a trial, it might not be heard until October. Hairston faces misdemeanor charges and the league could fine or suspend him. He was the focal point of the Hornets' summer league team, but the Hornets suddenly have some depth on the wing and the rookie may not get in the rotation to start the season.

Al Jefferson (plantar fasciitis) declined to join Team USA this summer in order to allow his foot to completely heal.

"I was contacted, but I was just trying to focus on getting my foot healed and getting ready for upcoming season," said Jefferson. He has been practicing without pain since early June, so his decision to skip the FIBA World Cup seems almost entirely a precautionary move to limit the wear-and-tear on his body. Charlotte finished 7th in the Eastern Conference last year and they'll look to get a higher seed with Lance Stephenson aboard this season.

The Hornets officially signed Noah Vonleh on Friday.

While the talent is there for Vonleh, Hornets coach Steve Clifford has stated repeatedly that he will be brought along slowly. It appears that Marvin Williams and Cody Zeller will be ahead of Vonleh in the rotation, and he's not likely to have a large impact on the 2014-15 fantasy season.
Jul 25 - 3:59 PM

The Hornets officially re-signed Jannero Pargo on Friday.

"We’re pleased that Jannero will be back with us again this season," said Hornets GM Rich Cho. "He is a great veteran presence in our locker room who is always ready when called upon." With Kemba Walker and Brian Roberts on the roster, it will take an injury for Pargo to have any fantasy relevance. Pargo has accumulated career averages of 6.4 points, 2.0 assists and 1.4 rebounds a game, he's not worth drafting in any format.

Kemba Walker said he thinks Lance Stephenson can take some pressure off of him.

"He’s super tough, he’ll never back down from anything, and for his height he handles the ball really well," Walker said. "He does the pick and roll really well. He passes the ball." Walker led the NBA in touches per game last season and fueled the Charlotte offense. The Hornets won't see a major change in strategy and Walker's fantasy value shouldn't change much. His usage may go down, but perhaps his efficiency goes up.
Jul 25 - 12:55 PM

Hornets coach Steve Clifford said that while rookies Noah Vonleh and P.J. Hairston have "starter's talent" they will not have a significant role with the team next season.

Clifford has really driven the point home this offseason that Vonleh will be brought along slowly, so owners should really temper their expectations as it looks like it might take an injury for Vonleh to see some serious time on the court. Hairston is going to be competing for minutes behind Lance Stephenson, Gary Neal, and Gerald Henderson, so he too will have a tough time contributing meaningful numbers on a nightly basis. It looks like both promising rookies have departed from the standard league conversation.
Jul 21 - 4:38 PM

The Hornets officially signed Marvin Williams on Monday.

"We’re excited to add a player of Marvin’s caliber to our team," said Hornets GM Rich Cho. "He will be a key piece of our frontcourt rotation with his versatility and ability to play both forward positions." It appears that the Hornets will be starting Williams, but that doesn't mean that he'll be a fantasy factor in standard leagues. Williams averaged 9.3 points, 5.2 rebound, 1.2 assists, and 1.3 three-pointers as a starter for the Jazz last season.

President Larry Bird said he feels "really bad" about losing Lance Stephenson.

"I hope it doesn't interfere with our relationship," Bird said. "But I did what I could possibly do to keep him here. Even if he didn't have any other offers, I was committed to giving him that $44 million because I believe in the kid." Stephenson will likely start at shooting guard for the Hornets next season and bump Gerald Henderson over to small forward for some of his playing time.
Jul 21 - 12:15 PM

Hornets rookie P.J. Hairston scored a game-high 27 points in a losing effort on Sunday, as Charlotte was eliminated in the semifinals of the Las Vegas Summer League.

Assistant coach Patrick Ewing said this week that Hairston "has the ability to be a rotational player in the NBA," and he has a chance to carve out a bench role during the regular season. He made three 3-pointers with seven rebounds and one steal in Sunday's game, but will need to improve his shot selection -- through six games he was shooting a mere 32.3 percent from the field.
Jul 20 - 8:07 PM

The Hornets' coaching staff has encouraged Cody Zeller to improve his offensive repertoire in post-ups and isolations.

The bulk of Zeller's offense last season came in pick-and-rolls and spot-ups, and the fleet big man was most effective in transition. Assistant coach Patrick Ewing was also critical of Zeller's defense in a recent interview, saying, "We need for [Zeller] to do it on both ends, not just look to score." He played well at Summer League but faces competition from Marvin Williams and rookie Noah Vonleh, and there are no guarantees that he'll have a breakthrough sophomore campaign.

Al Jefferson is excited to be playing alongside Lance Stephenson.

"I’m excited about Lance," Jefferson said. "We’re all going to be on the same page as far as defense, and defense dictates the offense. But Lance is a playmaker. That’s the reason he led the NBA in triple-doubles last year. He’s got this nastiness about his game that you want on your team. I was really excited to hear he signed with us and he wanted to do that. I think he’s got a lot to prove, and he wants to show people he can be a great superstar in this league." Stephenson is set to have big year in Charlotte.

Noah Vonleh kept his improvement trend going on Saturday, scoring 12 points with 10 boards and one block in 28 minutes.

He showed some great awareness and low-post presence today. Vonleh started his summer league with an 0-of-13 showing, but then put up three double-doubles in his next five games. The ceiling is there for the 2014 lottery pick once he puts on some extra size. It may just take a year before he really makes a splash.
