Player News - Grizzlies

Date: Team: Pos:

Zach Randolph grabbed eight of his 16 rebounds on the offensive end vs. Chicago on Sunday, adding 15 points, two assists and one 3-pointer.

In the process, Randolph passed Chris Webber for 88th on the NBA's all-time scoring list -- after Sunday's game he has 17,188 points in his career. He was awful to start tonight's game, but the veteran's newfound bench role hasn't prevented him from posting mid-round value over the Grizzlies' past 15 games.
Jan 16 - 12:15 AM

Tony Allen chipped in across the board on Sunday with four points, eight rebounds, four assists, three steals and one block in 33 minutes.

The Grizzlies are now 8-13 in games they've trailed at halftime this season, which isn't shocking for a team that relies on their defense to win games. The veteran Allen isn't an obvious fantasy option, but he's worth owning with averages of 5.5 boards, 1.8 steals, and 10.1 points per game on 49.0 percent shooting.
Jan 16 - 12:12 AM

Tony Allen scored a season-high 22 points with four rebounds, three assists, one steal and three turnovers in 25 minutes against the Rockets during a 110-105 win.

He made his first eight attempts and finished 9-of-10 in another massive win for the Grizzlies. They were down 16 on the road in this game and now have five wins against the Warriors, Cavs and Rockets combined on the year. Mike Conley was effective as per usual with 17 points, six rebounds, nine assists, two steals, one block and two 3-pointers.
Jan 14 - 1:41 AM

Zach Randolph scored 16 points with 12 rebounds, two assists, two steals and one 3-pointer against the Rockets on Friday.

Even with the Grizzlies going big, they still kept the Rockets in check from deep in the second half. Randolph posted his ninth double-double on the season in this game and was especially important in the second half, scoring 14 points after the break. Randolph is starting to flirt with mid-round value lately, which probably means it's time to sell high.
Jan 14 - 1:36 AM

Chandler Parsons made 1-of-7 from the field for five points with two rebounds, one assist, two steals and one 3-pointer in 19 minutes against the Rockets on Friday.

No revenge game here, folks. He attempted five shots from deep to drop him to just 11-of-47 (23.4 percent) on the season. He said he was also worried about his plus/minus, but he had the team-low -11 tonight. Parsons has been a disaster this season, so we obviously don't blame you on cutting him.
Jan 14 - 1:33 AM

Troy Daniels scored 13 points with three rebounds, one assist and three 3-pointers against the Rockets on Friday.

Revenge game? He hit a clutch three in this game and coach David Fizdale sure does know when to call TD's number. Still, he's not someone most fantasy owners can trust. Just keep an eye on Daniels when a Grizzlies players has to miss time.
Jan 14 - 1:13 AM

Chandler Parsons said he's figuring out ways to help the team and "have a good plus/minus" while he's out there.

Score one for the stat nerds! "These last two or three games are something to build on," Parsons said. "It’s tough trying to be efficient and to be aggressive playing within the offense." He scored a season-high 14 points on Wednesday and may wind up playing 20 minutes soon. It's still going to be a while before Parsons is turning in usable value, but he's a fine stash.
Jan 13 - 2:26 PM

Mike Conley scored a team-high 22 points against the Thunder on Wednesday during a 103-95 loss, adding four rebounds, six assists, three steals and three 3-pointers.

It wasn't his best game and he didn't finish strong, but he did a good job against Russell Westbrook. Conley's minutes are on the rise in a big way with at least 36 in each of his last four, which is helped by the Grizzlies playing in so many close games. Conley gets a date with Patrick Beverley on Friday night, so he may have a sub-par game.
Jan 11 - 11:36 PM

Chandler Parsons scored a season-high 14 points against the Thunder on Wednesday, adding one steal in 18 minutes.

He missed all three from deep to drop him to just 23.8 percent on the season, which is getting close to almost 20 percentage points worse than his 41.4 percent last season. The good news is Parsons started the third quarter, so his restriction is getting softer. He should be better, but it'll be a while before his owners can trust him.
Jan 11 - 11:27 PM

Zach Randolph scored 14 points with nine rebounds, one assist and four turnovers in 27 minutes against the Thunder on Wednesday.

With those Z-bounds, he moved ahead of A.C. Green for 44th on the all-time list for rebounds. Randolph has obviously lost a step and his screen game has fallen off lately. He's still worth a look in standard leagues, but his upside isn't the greatest.
Jan 11 - 11:14 PM

Vince Carter scored 11 points with three rebounds, one assist, one steal, one block and three 3-pointers in 29 minutes against the Thunder on Wednesday.

He hit a couple milestones tonight, passing Jason Kidd for fifth all time in 3-pointers and also Buck Williams for 17th all time in games played. The bad news is Carter had a bad finish to this game and missed two clutch free throws. he won't have much fantasy value.
Jan 11 - 11:00 PM

Deyonta Davis (foot) will be active and available to play Wednesday vs. the Thunder.

There are no guarantees he'll actually step foot on the court tonight, but if he does, it'll be in a very limited capacity. He's not worth owning in most leagues.
Jan 11 - 7:47 PM

Deyonta Davis (foot) is being listed as questionable for Wednesday's game against the Thunder.

He got in a full practice on Tuesday, so there's a chance he could see limited minutes off the bench on Wednesday night. However, as long as Zach Randolph and JaMychal Green are healthy, Davis will be a non-factor in fantasy hoops.
Jan 10 - 4:33 PM

Deyonta Davis (torn plantar fascia) returned to practice on Tuesday and said he's expecting to make it back to the court sometime this week.

The rookie will be used sparingly behind JaMychal Green and Zach Randolph this season, so his return to the active roster will have no barring in fantasy hoops.
Jan 10 - 3:20 PM

Zach Randolph posted 13 points, 11 rebounds, three steals, two blocks and one assist on Sunday, making 6-of-16 shots in 27 minutes vs. the Jazz.

This was Z-Bo's second straight double-double, marking the first time this season that he's gone on a dub-dub streak. His bench role hasn't prevented him from holding onto late round value, and it helps that he hasn't missed a game since Dec. 5.
