The Memphis Grizzlies have removed the interim tag from Chris Wallace and have officially named him as their general manager.

Wallace will now begin a search for an assistant general manager to groom as his eventual successor. The Houston Rockets had success hiring a general-manager-in-waiting with Daryl Morey and the Grizzlies will hope to duplicate this success with Wallace and his yet-to-be-name right-hand man.

The Grizzlies may not hire a new general manager, according to Zach Lowe of Grantland.

Earlier this month, ESPN reported that the Grizzlies were going to remove the interim tag from Chris Wallace, so this report falls in line with that one. The Grizzlies also have former ESPN writer John Hollinger in their front office and may give him some added responsibilities.

Patrick Christopher has agreed to a non-guaranteed contract with the Grizzlies.

He had a similar deal with the Bulls last season and is now the 14th player on Memphis' roster. Christopher was named the D-League Performer of the Week back in April and will definitely get a camp invite in October. The 6'5" shooting guard is off the fantasy radar.

The Grizzlies will keep Nick Calathes as their backup PG this season, despite his desire to sign a more lucrative contract in Europe.

Calathes will earn $816k during the 2013-14 season, minus whatever salary he forfeits while serving the 13 games left on his suspension for violating the league's drug policy. The Grizzlies made a good-faith effort to acquire another viable backup PG to replace Calathes, but at the end of the day they're under no obligation to release him from his cap-friendly deal.

Vince Carter has agreed to a three-year, $12 million deal with the Grizzlies according to Adrian Wojnarowski.

It's fair to wonder when Carter's legs will give out, but in his limited role it's very possible that he continues to put up serviceable numbers as a seasoned backup. It looks like Mike Miller is on his way out of Memphis and perhaps to Cleveland to go play with LeBron.
Jul 11 - 11:46 PM

Jordan Adams rebounded from his two-point game on Tuesday with a 19-point game on Thursday vs. the Rockets, adding three rebounds, one assist, three steals and one 3-pointer.

Before that aforementioned dud, Adams had two 20-point games and was a dynamic scorer on the outside. His range posed a threat to the defense and he really showed a nice first step. Adams probably needs a break or two in order to make an impact in his rookie season.
Jul 10 - 9:29 PM

Beno Udrih has reached an agreement to return to the Grizzlies next season, according to Marc Stein of ESPN.

Udrih was acquired by Memphis from the New York Knicks in late February and averaged only 5.5 minutes in his 10 games played with the Grizzlies during the regular season. He managed to salvage his season with a strong playoff showing, scoring nearly eight points per game while shooting over 40 percent from the field. The deal will be for two years at the bi-annual exception, starting at $2.1 million for the first year with a partial guarantee on the second.

The Mavericks are still confident they can re-sign unrestricted free agent Vince Carter.

Even with the massive three-year, $45 million offer sheet the Mavs just extended to Chandler Parsons, they still think they can bring back Carter. His minutes would obviously take a hit with Parsons playing a ton of minutes at small forward, so VC's fantasy value would go south in his age-37 season.

Zach Randolph officially signed a two-year contract extension with Memphis on Monday worth $20 million.

He also decided to opt in to his $16.5 million player option for the 2014-15 season, so he'll be with the Grizzlies for another three years. "Zach has become a cornerstone of our franchise, and his contributions have been immense not just on the court but in the Memphis community," said Grizzlies Interim General Manager Chris Wallace. "Through that process, he’s become one of the most popular Grizzlies in the history of the organization."
Jul 7 - 7:03 PM

Jordan Adams has officially signed a multi-year deal with the Grizzlies.

The Grizzlies took Adams with the 22nd pick in the 2014 draft, so this is simply a formality. He'll have to compete for minutes with guys like Tony Allen and Courtney Lee, so he's not likely to have much fantasy value during his rookie season.
Jul 7 - 2:49 PM

Talks between the Mavericks and Vince Carter are "trending well," according to Tim MacMahon of ESPN Dallas.

There is mutual interest and it seems like only a matter of time before Carter re-signs with the Mavs, but he's also drawn interest from the Heat, Raptors, Thunder and Trail Blazers. He had an excellent season in 2013-14 and was one of the best bench players in the NBA, but at age 37 it's unlikely that he'll get a long contract.
Jul 7 - 12:38 AM

Grizzlies guard Jamaal Franklin is shooting 4-of-22 from the field through two games at the Orlando Pro Summer League.

"I’m getting good looks and playing the right style. I just can’t seem to get the ball in the hoop," said Franklin. He'll earn a guaranteed rookie-scale salary for the 2014-15 season, but he shot just 41.0 percent as a rookie and has a long road to earning reliable minutes in Dave Joerger's rotation.
Jul 6 - 6:45 PM

Jordan Adams made 5-of-12 from the field and all eight attempts from the line for 22 points vs. the Thunder on Saturday, adding three rebounds, three assists, four steals, one block, one turnover and four 3-pointers.

It was a great outing for UCLA's leading scorer last season. Adams was a bit of a stat-stuff while with the Bruins, but he'll have a tough time getting minutes once the regular season comes around. He won't be worth drafting in standard leagues.
Jul 5 - 7:17 PM

The Memphis Grizzlies have picked up Kosta Koufos' $3 million option for next season.

The Grizzlies guaranteed Koufos the $3 million deal for next season after they decided not to extend a qualifying offer to Ed Davis. Koufos had a semi-productive stretch when Marc Gasol was injured last season, but his 2013-14 averages of 6.4 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 0.9 blocks limit his fantasy value to deeper leagues unless he sees a major uptick from his 16.9 minutes per game last season.
Jul 1 - 11:08 AM

Vince Carter is set to become an unrestricted free agent come July 1, and there are a number of playoff teams expected to make an offer, according to sources.

The Heat, Thunder, Raptors, and Trail Blazers are expected to make their pitches to Carter in addition to the Mavericks. Carter averaged 11.9 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 24.4 minutes per game last season, and showed that at 37-years-old he still has the ability to make an impact on a team.
