Flip Saunders said there is no repair work necessary with Kevin Love before next season begins.

"I don't think so," he said when asked if there needs to be "any repair between the organization and the player." Love's lost season is raising questions about his future with the Timberwolves, but he's close to Rick Adelman and the team is confident about their future around Love. Saunders revealed that Love is about a week and a half out from doing "unlimited" physical activity, so he'll be good to go well in advance of training camp.

Rick Adelman - C - Timberwolves

Flip Saunders is still expecting Rick Adelman to return as head coach.

Adelman's wife Mary Kay is doing "very well," so it appears Adelman will be back on the sidelines for the Timberwolves for at least one more season barring any unforeseen developments. It's great news for the Adelman family and Minnesota.

Brandon Roy - G/F - Timberwolves

Timberwolves released Brandon Roy.

This could very well be the end of the line for Roy. There was a clause in his contract that allowed the Wolves to terminate his two-year deal after one year if his knees weren't healthy. After appearing in just five games this season, it's clear he's shot. Once a rising young superstar in the league, Roy was felled by seven career knee surgeries. Now 28, the 2007 Rookie of the Year and three-time All-Star is unlikely to get another chance. David Khan was the only GM silly enough to give Roy a guaranteed contract, and he's since been fired by the Wolves.

Flip Saunders - C - Timberwolves

Flip Saunders wasted no time in his new role as President of Basketball Operations for the Timberwolves and fired five scouts on Wednesday.

Although the move doesn't have fantasy relevance, it's clear that Saunders wants to leave his stamp on the organization and that comes as expected. Of those who were dismissed, the longest-tenured was with the team for eight seasons. Saunders also spent "much" of Wednesday with Rick Adelman, another sign that the veteran head coach is anticipating a return.

Ricky Rubio - G - Timberwolves

Ricky Rubio and his family are reportedly "disappointed" in the decision to fire GM David Kahn, sources told Ric Bucher.

We're taking this with a huge grain of salt. Bucher reports that the disappointment stems "largely because Kahn is the one who stuck his neck out and drafted Rubio knowing he couldn't come over right away and did a lot of the legwork to expedite the start of Rubio's NBA career." We think Rubio and his family will be just fine.

Glen Taylor said Friday he's no longer interested in selling the Timberwolves.

Taylor said before the season he'd be interested in selling the club if the right suitors came along. On Friday, Taylor said he had "seller's remorse." "All of a sudden, I realized, well, what if I do sell this team? I like coming to games. I like being part of this team," Taylor said at the news conference introducing Flip Saunders as the team's new President of Basketball Operations.

Nikola Pekovic - C - Timberwolves

Former Timberwolves GM David Kahn believes Nikola Pekovic is "probably aiming for a double-digit salary" as a restricted free agent during the offseason.

It's what we expected to hear, but Pekovic's free agency has the potential to turn into a monster headache for the team. The Wolves aren't good enough as currently constructed, but they can't really afford to lose Pekovic without a suitable replacement. A desperate team will throw Pekovic a multi-year offer at something like $10-12 million per season, a figure that may be difficult for Minnesota to match when looking at all of the holes on the roster. It's rare a team lets a restricted free agent leave, especially someone as critical as Pekovic is to Minnesota.

Derrick Williams - F - Timberwolves

Former Timberwolves GM David Kahn said "you just had to do it" when asked about drafting Derrick Williams second overall in 2011.

Many were calling for Williams to actually go first ahead of Kyrie Irving, and that would have been a monumental disaster for Cleveland. Players drafted after Williams include Jonas Valanciunas, Tristan Thompson, Brandon Knight, Klay Thompson, Kawhi Leonard, Nikola Vucevic, Iman Shumpert, Tobias Harris and Kenneth Faried. "You just had to do it, even though we were deep at that position. In time, I think it will prove to be the right pick," Kahn said.

Kevin Love - F/C - Timberwolves

According to ex-GM David Kahn, he had to convince Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor that Kevin Love was worth a maximum contract.

If true, it's a seriously large statement and a potential reflection of why Love has said what he has about the organization in the past. "We handled it the best way we can, and of course I handled it per instructions from the owner," Kahn said. "Glen and I talked about it at length. I think it actually took me some time to tell Glen it was imperative he receive max money." Kahn also revealed that Love really wanted the five-year deal instead of the four-year deal he settled for instead. Love can opt out of his contract in 2015.

Former Timberwolves GM David Kahn thinks he left the team "highly well positioned."

"I think it's a team that's a force to be reckoned with the next seven to 10 years," Kahn said. While making the playoffs would be a good start before making statements like that, we'd expect Kahn to toot his own horn as he builds his resume to look for his next opportunity.

Rick Adelman - C - Timberwolves

There has been no decision made on the future of Rick Adelman, but new President of Basketball Operations Flip Saunders expects him to return.

Adelman was tentatively planning to return as coach, but nothing has been decided with certainty yet. As long as Adelman's wife doesn't have a setback with her health, he should be back on the sidelines next season, and Saunders' belief that he'll be back speaks volumes.

Flip Saunders has officially signed on to be the President of Basketball Operations for the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Additionally, Saunders will get an ownership stake in the team, but it's not clear how big that will be. Saunders replaces an inept David Kahn, and although Kahn will be defended for the "position" he's leaving the team in, he made numerous questionable decisions during his tenure and the writing was on the wall for some time.

Updating a previous post, the Timberwolves confirmed Thursday that David Kahn will not return as president of basketball operations.

The Wolves declined to exercise a one-year option in Kahn's contract and will likely replace him with former coach Flip Saunders. Jon Krawczynski of The Associated Press reported earlier Thursday that Saunders' deal is expected to be finalized by Friday, returning him to the franchise he coached from 1995-2005. It remains to be seen what will happen with current coach Rick Adelman, although reports of him returning in 2013-14 have been optimistic. Stay tuned.

David Kahn's fate is expected to be officially decided when he returns from scouting in Europe.

Kahn likely doesn't even want to return because he knows he'll get the axe, and at least his final days on the job involve traveling through Europe. In all sincerity, it is expected Kahn will be relieved of his duties sooner rather than later with Flip Saunders replacing him.

J.J. Barea - G - Timberwolves

J.J. Barea is likely to play for the Puerto Rican national team during the offseason.

Barea is under contract for two more years, and the Puerto Rican team will try to qualify for the World Championship at the end of the summer.
