Jaguars coach Gus Bradley announced Kelvin Beachum has won the left tackle job.

This was never in much doubt as long as Beachum proved healthy, and he has done that in the last couple weeks. With Beachum at tackle, former No. 2 overall pick Luke Joeckel will switch to left guard. He struggled at the position in the third preseason game.

Jaguars placed S James Sample (shoulder) on injured reserve.

A 2015 fourth-round pick, Sample also ended his rookie season on injured reserve with a shoulder injury. It is possible he is designated to return later in the season. Jacksonville also cut TE Nic Jacobs and DE Bjoern Werner to reach the 75-man roster limit.

Julius Thomas hauled in 1-of-2 targets for four yards Sunday night against the Bengals.

Thomas' quiet preseason continues, although he did finally record a catch to convert a third down on the first possession. He also had an end-zone target broken up in the second quarter. Thomas has not been heavily involved this preseason, but he still projects as a red-zone factor on what should be a high-scoring offense. He is worth a look as a back-end TE1.

Marqise Lee caught 1-of-2 targets for three yards Sunday night against the Bengals.

His one catch came on a screen in the second quarter, and he failed to convert on a back-corner fade at the goal line. More importantly, he saw plenty of snaps with the first team and appears to have won the No. 3 job. That role will not return much fantasy value while Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns are healthy, but Lee could be a hot waiver add during the season.
Aug 28 - 10:19 PM

Allen Hurns caught 2-of-4 targets for 25 yards Sunday night against the Bengals.

It was not a great night for the offense, but their one solid drive was sparked by a diving 3rd-and-long conversion by Hurns early in the second quarter. He added another seven-yard grab just before the half. Likely done for the preseason, Hurns finishes with 67 yards and a score on five catches. Set for some regression, there are better options in the sixth round.
Aug 28 - 10:16 PM

Allen Robinson caught both of his targets for 10 yards Sunday night against the Bengals.

A struggling offense limited his opportunities, but he still made the most of them. He drew a long pass interference call down the left sideline to set up a field goal, and he made a great contested catch late in the second quarter. After he put on a show all preseason, there is no reason to worry about Robinson's WR1 status.
Aug 28 - 10:11 PM

Chris Ivory rushed four times for four yards and recorded one catch for six yards in the Jaguars' third preseason game.

It was a quiet night for Ivory, but his role as the early-down and short-yardage complement to T.J. Yeldon is secure. Ivory was targeted on a screen and saw time in the two-minute drill, but he is unlikely to see much work in the passing game this season. Ivory is the better bet for touchdowns than Yeldon, but both are difficult to trust in fantasy operating in an almost even timeshare.
Aug 28 - 10:08 PM

T.J. Yeldon rushed five times for 34 yards in the Jaguars' third preseason game Sunday night.

He "added" -2 yards on two receptions. One of those catches was a busted screen which resulted in a lost fumble. Despite the setback, Yeldon looked good Sunday, twice leaving Bengal defenders grasping at air in the open field. The second move resulted in a 23-yard gain in the second quarter. Yeldon also surprisingly saw snaps inside the 10-yard line, although Chris Ivory got the traditional goal-line look a couple plays later. Yeldon is a great talent, but he is unlikely to score many touchdowns behind Ivory. That makes him tough to use outside of PPR formats.
Aug 28 - 10:00 PM

Blake Bortles completed 10-of-16 passes for 52 yards Sunday night against the Bengals.

Penalties and a lost fumble derailed the Jags' offense early in the first half, but Bortles was able to get the ship moving in the right direction with a great throw to Allen Hurns for a third-down conversion in the second quarter. It was not the dominating performance we saw from the offense in the first two games, but Bortles still made his fair share of plays. His ADP is still a shade high, but he should return back-end QB1 value this season.

ESPN Jaguars reporter Michael DiRocco believes Marqise Lee will be the team's "breakout star" this season.

It is unlikely Lee gets enough work to truly breakout as long as Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns are healthy, but this is still a positive sign. Limited by injuries his first two seasons, Lee has finally had a healthy training camp, and he looks locked into the No. 3 job. He has also earned praise from coach Gus Bradley, who said he has shown more "maturity" this offseason. As long as he stays healthy, Lee should start to turn his career around this season.

ESPN Jaguars reporter Michael DiRocco believes S James Sample (shoulder) could open the season on injured reserve.

The 2015 fourth-rounder ended his rookie season on injured reserve with a shoulder issue, and DiRocco reports his shoulder is "banged up again." With a numbers-crunch in the secondary, stashing Sample on IR might be Jacksonville's best option.

Jaguars DE Dante Fowler is expected to split first-team reps with third-round DE Yannick Ngakoue in Sunday's preseason game.

Fowler has come back to Earth a bit after getting off to a blazing start this summer. He's yet to record a tackle in 24 defensive snaps this preseason and has now fallen into a timeshare with Ngakoue. "I learned there’s a big difference in being ready to play a game physically and being mentally ready for your opponent," said Fowler of his recent struggles. "It’s time to lock in." Fowler is obviously going through an adjustment period after missing all of last season with a torn ACL, but he's still the heavy favorite to start opposite Jared Odrick at defensive end.
Aug 26 - 3:21 PM

Jaguars OC Greg Olson said Kelvin Beachum (knee) is expected to start at left tackle in Sunday's third preseason game.

Beachum has been sidelined for most of camp as he attempts to come back from an October ACL tear, but he is finally ready for action. With Beachum taking over at left tackle, Luke Joeckel is expected to get the nod at left guard.
Aug 25 - 11:02 AM

Jaguars rookie LB Myles Jack will get first-team reps Sunday against the Bengals.

Paul Posluszny is still the starter at middle linebacker, but Jack will get some work with the first-team defense with the veteran expected to play limited snaps. "That experience will be valuable and cool," Jack said. "Even though it’s a preseason game, it will be like the Super Bowl to me." Jack does not look likely to jump Poz this season, but he is the future in the middle.

Suspended WR Justin Blackmon received a one-year suspended sentence Wednesday after pleading guilty to an April DUI charge.

He's also been put on probation. Blackmon will avoid jail time as long as he complies with the conditions set by an Oklahoma judge. An immense talent coming out of Oklahoma State, the former top-five pick has sabotaged his career with repeated substance abuse and other off-field issues. The odds of him ever playing another NFL snap are slim to none.
