Ryan O'Halloran of the Florida Times Union would "guess" the Jaguars won't pick up Blake Bortles' fifth-year option for 2018.

Exercising Bortles' option would have been a no-brainer a year ago after his breakout 2015 campaign. Rather than taking a step forward, Bortles showed significant regression in 2016 while struggling with his mechanics. O'Halloran is only making an educated guess, but Bortles certainly hasn't developed into the franchise QB the Jags were hoping for when they drafted him third overall in 2014. Jacksonville has until May 2 to pick up his option.

Jaguars signed DE Malliciah Goodman.

A 2013 fourth-rounder of the Falcons, Goodman was part of final cuts last summer and spent one week of the season on the Seahawks' roster before spending another two weeks in December with Atlanta. He's a camp body.

Jaguars signed TE Mychal Rivera to a two-year, $6.75 million contract.

The second year of the deal is a team option. Rivera also had interest from the Jets and Colts. Jacksonville is a solid landing spot after moving on from Julius Thomas. Rivera could open the season as the Jaguars' top receiving tight end, but he is unlikely to have much of a box-score impact.
Mar 22 - 4:50 PM

Free agent TE Mychal Rivera is scheduled to visit the Colts.

Rivera met with the Jets on Monday, but he left without a deal. Not a dynamic threat as a receiver, Rivera is unlikely to make much of a fantasy impact no matter where he lands, but New York would at least offer a good shot at targets.
Mar 20 - 10:09 PM

Calais Campbell said the Jaguars plan to use him as a defensive end.

He should still play snaps inside, but the Jaguars will give their new defensive weapon more opportunities on the edge than he saw in Arizona. "That was appealing," Campbell said. "[I] didn't get many opportunities the last couple years, but when I have, I've succeeded." Campbell is a candidate to record double-digit sacks for the first time in his career.
Mar 20 - 9:07 PM

Blak Bortles said his delivery is "more efficient, quicker" after working on his mechanics with 3DQB's Adam Dedeaux in California.

"Just trying to tighten up the release, make that as quick as possible," Bortles said. "So never letting really the wrist get below the elbow, trying to keep that parallel and not dropping down. It didn't take a long time to fix it, but the first week it wasn't pretty. When you're trying to change things it's not going to be great but we were able to kind of hash that out and now it's going well." A video posted by 3DQB on Twitter shows Bortles' new compact delivery, but the true test will be when he tries it in games. Bortles will continue working with Dedeaux this spring where he's also been throwing with Marqise Lee.

Mar 20 - 10:20 AM

Free agent Mychal Rivera will visit the Jets on Monday.

Tight end has been a black hole for the Jets in recent years, and Austin Seferian-Jenkins was recently hit with a two-game substance-abuse suspension. Rivera caught just 18 passes for 192 yards last year in Oakland while grading poorly as a run-blocker. He wouldn't be much of an upgrade in New York.
Mar 17 - 11:11 AM

Jaguars signed LB Josh McNary, formerly of the Colts.

McNary doesn't play much on defense, but he's a standout on special teams.
Mar 16 - 11:39 AM

Jaguars signed LB Audie Cole, formerly of the Vikings.

Jacksonville appears set at linebacker with Telvin Smith, Paul Posluszny, and Myles Jack, but Cole gives them quality depth and is an asset on special teams.
Mar 11 - 11:32 AM

Jaguars signed DT Stefan Charles, formerly of the Lions.

Jacksonville's plan to sign all the defensive linemen continues on schedule. Charles has not been stellar since entering the league in 2013, but he offers solid rotational depth. He played his first two seasons under Jaguars coach Doug Marrone in Buffalo.
Mar 11 - 11:22 AM

Jaguars signed OL Earl Watford, formerly of the Cardinals, to a two-year, $6-million contract.

Watford is not a starting-quality lineman, but he is a versatile piece who adds depth to a line which needs it. Jacksonville still could be in the market for an upgrade at left guard.
Mar 11 - 10:53 AM

Jaguars signed DE Lerentee McCray, formerly of the Bills, to a one-year contract.

McCray gets $1 million guaranteed, and the deal can max out at $3.5 million. He opened last season as a situational player on defense, playing 30-40 percent of the snaps, but McCray was relegated to special teams by midseason.
Mar 9 - 5:23 PM

Jaguars signed CB A.J. Bouye, formerly of the Texans, to a five-year, $67.5 million contract with $26 million guaranteed.

Bouye wanted to best the deal Janoris Jenkins got from the Giants last year and accomplished just that. A breakout 2016 performer, Bouye went from No. 4 on the depth chart last summer to a true shutdown No. 1 in DC Romeo Crennel's defense. The Jaguars are banking on him repeating it. This Jacksonville defense is brimming with talent. Unfortunately, Blake Bortles holds the keys to the offense.
Mar 9 - 4:15 PM

Jaguars signed DE Calais Campbell to a four-year, $60 million contract.

The deal includes $30 million guaranteed. An agreement was revealed Wednesday, but Campbell waited to shake hands until after he could use the Broncos to get the Jags to up their offer from $14 million annually to $15 million. He's an expensive Jared Odrick replacement, but a massive one. After years of on-paper teases, the Jags might finally have a fearsome defensive line.
Mar 9 - 2:41 PM

Jaguars re-signed WR Bryan Walters to a two-year contract.

Walters is a pair of veteran hands at the back end of one of the league's best young receiver corps. He's primarily a special teamer.
