Week of Dec. 27-31

Great Options

Andrei Vasilevskiy-Tampa Bay Lightning

Schedule: Thu vs. MTL, Fri vs. PHI, Sun at CBJ

Vasilevskiy comes into this weekend’s action having won six of his last seven contests. He has a 2.20 goals-against-average and a .931 save percentage. Vasilevskiy currently leads the league in wins with 22.

Sergei Bobrovsky-Columbus Blue Jackets

Schedule: Wed at PIT, Fri at OTT, Sun vs. TB

Bobrovsky has dropped three in a row and four of his last five, but the Christmas break should do him some good. He has a 17-10-1 record with a 2.41 goals-against-average and a .921 save percentage this season.

Connor Hellebuyck-Winnipeg Jets

Schedule: Wed vs. EDM, Fri vs. NYI, Sun at EDM

Hellebuyck is getting Saturday night off, so he’ll have an extended Christmas break. He should be fresh for next week’s contests. The Jets netminder has been terrific so far this season. He owns an 18-4-5 record with a 2.44 goals-against-average and a .920 save percentage in 2017-18.

Cory Schneider-New Jersey Devils

Schedule: Wed vs. DET, Fri vs. BUF, Sat at WSH

Expect Schneider to get home starts against two mediocre teams in Buffalo and Detroit. Those two games alone set the Devils goaltender up for a nice week. He has a 15-6-4 record with a 2.60 goals-against-average and .919 save percentage.

Editor’s Note: FanDuel’s main NHL contest, the NHL Breakaway, boasts thousands in cash prizes every night and costs less than $5 to enter.  Get in on the action!

Good Options

Jonathan Quick-Los Angeles Kings

Schedule: Thu vs. VGK, Sat at VAN

Quick has won back-to-back games over Philadelphia and Colorado. In both those outings, he only allowed one goal per game. He only has two potential starts next week, but a home date against Vegas and a trip to Vancouver are favorable matchups.

Tuukka Rask-Boston Bruins

Schedule: Wed vs. OTT, Thu at WSH, Sat at OTT

The Bruins have a tough game against the Capitals on Thursday, but that’s sandwiched between two tilts against the beatable Senators. Rask hasn’t suffered a regulation loss in his last eight outings.

Braden Holtby-Washington Capitals

Schedule: Wed at NYR, Thu vs. BOS, Sat vs. NJ

Only Lightning goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy has more wins than Holtby going into this weekend’s action. Holtby has a 20-7-0 record with a 2.64 goals-against-average and a .919 save percentage this season. He’s a solid fantasy option.

Marc-Andre Fleury-Vegas Golden Knights

Schedule: Wed at ANA, Thu at LAK, Sat vs. TOR

Fleury has a 2-0-1 record since returning to the lineup from a concussion. His upcoming schedule won’t be easy, but the Golden Knights continue to surprise the hockey world, so don’t be shocked if he performs well after Christmas.

Bad Options

Jimmy Howard-Detroit Red Wings

Schedule: Wed at NJ, Fri vs. NYR, Sun vs. PIT

Two of Detroit’s three games will be played at home, but the team doesn’t win regularly enough to make Howard a good fantasy option. Howard comes into this weekend’s action having dropped four of his last five decisions.

Craig Anderson-Ottawa Senators

Schedule: Wed at BOS, Fri vs. CBJ, Sat vs. BOS

Anderson will miss Saturday’s game because of an illness, so the break will allow him to get healthy. Unfortunately, he just hasn’t been great for the most part this season. He has just two wins in his last 11 decisions. Stay away.

Jacob Markstrom-Vancouver Canucks

Schedule: Thu vs. CHI, Sat vs. LAK

Markstrom has dropped four of his last five games between three and five goals in each of those outings. Even though the Canucks have two home games on the schedule next week, he can’t be trusted. You can do better for your fantasy team.
