Oct. 28-Nov 3
Great Options
Pekka Rinne – Nashville Predators
Schedule: Tue vs. CHI, Thu vs. CGY, Sat vs. NYR
Rinne is second in the league in victories and he should be able to pad that lead with the schedule the Predators have coming up. Two of next week’s three opponents missed the playoffs last year and all of their games will be at home.
Jacob Markstrom – Vancouver Canucks
Schedule: Mon vs. FLA, Wed at LAK, Fri at ANA, Sat at SJ
Markstrom has won each of his last four starts, but he’s now 2-0-0 since coming back to the lineup after leaving for personal reasons. He owns a 4-2-0 record with a 2.16 goals-against-average and a .933 save percentage. He’s a risky play, but one that could pay off in a big way.
Braden Holtby – Washington Capitals
Schedule: Tue at TOR, Fri vs. BUF, Sun vs. CGY
Holtby got off to a rough start, but he’s 3-0-1 in his last four outings. He has an outside chance of playing all three games next week, but it’s far more likely that Ilya Samsonov will get one of the three starts.
John Gibson – Anaheim Ducks
Schedule: Tue vs. WPG, Fri vs. VAN, Sun vs. CHI
Gibson has dropped each of his last three games, but he has the potential to bounce back this week. The Ducks have three matchups at home against three teams that they can definitely compete with.
Good Options
Marc-Andre Fleury – Vegas Golden Knights
Schedule: Thu vs. MTL, Sat vs. WPG
Fleury has suited up in nine of the Golden Knights’ 10 games so he’s going to play in both these games next week. He has a 7-2-0 record with a 2.04 goals-against-average and a .937 save percentage.
Philipp Grubauer – Colorado Avalanche
Schedule: Wed vs. FLA, Fri vs. DAL, Sat at ARZ
Grubauer has dropped two of his last three games, but those are the only two games he’s dropped all season. He has a 5-1-1 record with a 2.82 goals-against-average and a .915 save percentage. He should get two starts next week.
Carter Hutton – Buffalo Sabres
Schedule: Mon vs. ARZ, Fri at WSH, Sat vs. NYI
Hutton is off a terrific start which is a little surprising, but he’s been really good. The 33-year-old has a 6-1-0 record with a 2.27 goals-against-average and a .920 save percentage this season. He’ll get two starts next week.
Matt Murray – Pittsburgh Penguins
Schedule: Tue vs. PHI, Sat vs. EDM
Murray dropped two of his first three games, but he’s now rattled off four wins in his last five outings. He has a 5-3-0 record with a 2.62 goals-against-average and a .909 save percentage. He should see two starts next week.
Bad Options
Carey Price – Montreal Canadiens
Schedule: Wed at ARZ, Thu at VGK, Sat at DAL
Price hasn’t been terrible this year, but the defensive zone coverage in front of him has been an issue. The Habs tend to struggle on the West Coast so playing Price this week is a risky proposition.
Devan Dubnyk – Minnesota Wild
Schedule: Tue at DAL, Wed at STL, Sat vs. STL
The Wild appeared to turn the corner on a tough start when they beat Montreal and Edmonton at home, but they dropped a 4-0 decision in Nashville on Thursday. Dubnyk will make two starts but the team in front of him isn’t good.
Anders Nilsson – Ottawa Senators
Schedule: Sat at BOS
Nilsson has played really well lately, but the Senators have just one game on the schedule, so his fantasy upside will be extremely limited. Most starting netminders will get at least two starts next week. Take a chance on one of them.
