FanDuel Bargain Bin: Friday

by Spencer Limbach
Updated On: October 4, 2018, 4:04 pm ET

FanDuel, typically we’ll focus on players who are priced at $6,000 or lower.

Let me just tell you that there are plenty of fine option under that salary threshold for this Friday slate of games. Because of this, I will be ranking the value plays in terms of priority to your lineup.

Just a quick note that these player picks were organized early in the day. For the NBA, there is usually a plethora ofnews trickling out through the afternoon, which could open up some more value plays. Be sure to keep posted with the NBA Headlines & Injuries section, as the wonderful contributors over there will break down the DFS consequences of every piece of news.

Now onto the bargain plays:

TOP TEN VALUE PLAYS

1 - Ryan Anderson – PF – Pelicans (FanDuel Price: $6,200)

Anthony Davis is listed as doubtful tonight, meaning we can safely plug and play Ryan Anderson in all formats tonight. His price tag is slightly above the $6000 bargain threshold, but this situation is an exception to that rule, deserving to be highlighted more than others. Not only will Anderson see more playing time with Davis out, but his shot attempts and rebounds should ascend as well.

2 - Nikola Mirotic – SF – Chicago (FanDuel Price: $5,800)

Mirotic had a few awful games last week, but he bounced-back nicely with 34 FP in 28 minutes at Philadelphia on Monday. Joakim Noah has been his primary competition for minutes this season, ultimately having his worst games when the Bulls opted for a “bigger lineup” with Noah on the floor over Mirotic. Noah is nursing a knee injury which may limit his playing time, opening the door for Miortic to see plenty of minutes.

3 - Julius Randle – PF – Lakers (FanDuel Price: $5,900)

If you recall, Randle decimated the Mavericks earlier this season, posting 54 fantasy points in 34 minutes. He has been somewhat middling since then, but this matchup screams for more upside. Even if he doesn’t produce at the same rate as their last meeting, Randle will likely hold value at his season average of 27 FPPG.

4 - Emmanuel Mudiay – PG – Denver (FanDuel Price: $6,000)

Mudiay already roasted the Rockets for 17 points, 9 assists, and 5 rebounds on opening night. The only problem came in the form of 11 turnovers in that game. However, Mudiay has cut back on his miscues since then, putting up three straight 30+ FP games. He could get another in a nice, high-scoring, home matchup vs Houston.

5 - Dion Waiters – SG – Oklahoma City (FanDuel Price: $4,800)

Kevin Durant is out tonight, meaning Waiters will need to step up and pick up some of the offensive slack. Russell Westbrook will likely take most of that upon himself tonight, but Waiters should be his “plan B” offensive option. It’s nice to think that Waiters scored 44 points in his past two games, and now he’s in line for an offensive uptick with KD out.

6 - Eric Gordon – SG – New Orleans (FanDuel Price: $5,800)

With Anthony Davis likely out tonight, the Pelicans will be looking for offense wherever they can get it. Gordon is their next best scoring threat, although he doesn’t do much in the peripheral categories. Still, a high allotment of minutes and shot attempts could sustain fantasy value, much like his 36 FP performance at Atlanta on Wednesday.

7 - Jared Sullinger – PF – Celtics (FanDuel Price: $5,500)

Sullinger hasn’t played a ton of minutes, but he has been incredibly effective in his 22-28 minute allotment. The matchup against an up-tempo, lackadaisical Atlanta defense screams for more of the same upside, and Sullinger’s price tag hasn’t moved too much.  I believe Anderson and Randle carry more security at the PF position, but Sullinger is slightly cheaper as a tournament option.

8 - T. J. McConnell – PG – Philadelphia (FanDuel Price: $5,000)

McConnell’s price has risen to the point where he doesn’t have a ton of profit potential anymore. Still, seeing 30+ minutes in an up-tempo matchup against Oklahoma City isn’t a bad landing spot for him. There are several different routes you can take at PG tonight, but don’t forget about McConnell as a cheap play to make room for the top-dollar options.

9 - Marcus Thornton – SG – Houston (FanDuel Price: $4,800)

Even though Terrence Jones is back, the Rockets seem determined to play Marcus Thornton heavy minutes, as exemplified by his 35 minutes, 45 FP performance last game. That could hold true against a Denver team that likes to play small themselves. Even though Thornton’s salary has increased, his playing time somewhat stabilizes his fantasy production.

10 - Zaza Pachulia – C – Mavericks (FanDuel Price: $5,500)

Zaza has been up and down this season, but it’s reasonable to think we’ll see his “good side” tonight against a bad Lakers’ frontcourt. He toasted LA for 31 fantasy points in 29 minutes earlier this season, and Zaza is coming off a nice run of 28 FPPG over his last four.

ALSO CONSIDER

Alec Burks – SG – Utah (FanDuel Price: $5,500)

As you can see above, there are a lot of quality value shooting guards tonight, which knocks Burks to the “also consider” section. However, if Rodney Hood (questionable) misses this game, Burks could see even more minutes and shot attempts as a result. He has produced back-to-back 30+ FP games, and the matchup at Orlando looks advantageous. Keep an eye on Hood’s status.
