FanDuel Bargain Bin: Thursday

FanDuel, typically we’ll focus on players who are priced at $6,000 or lower.

We have a somewhat moderate slate tonight consisting of six total games, but it is still plenty appetizing. Due to this, I will rank the top five bargains by priority to your lineups, also outlining a few more to consider.

Just a quick note that these player picks were organized early in the day. For the NBA, there is usually a plethora of news trickling out through the afternoon, which could open up some more value plays. Be sure to keep posted with the NBA Headlines & Injuries section, as the wonderful contributors over there will break down the DFS consequences of every piece of news.

Now onto the bargain plays.

1 - Ryan Anderson – PF – New Orleans (FanDuel Price: $5,700)

Anderson will presumably be the most popular player tonight, and it’s completely warranted. He has a huge usage rate to fill with Anthony Davis out and Tyreke Evans playing through pain. In other words, Anderson and Jrue Holiday will be asked to carry most of the offensive load in this high-scoring, fast-paced game (215 over/under). Go ahead and lock Anderson in as one of your first picks on FanDuel.

2 - Derrick Williams – PF – New York (FanDuel Price: $4,900)

Carmelo Anthony will miss another game, meaning Derrick Williams will continue to see 34-36 minutes with a respectable usage rate. Melo has missed the last two games, and D-Will put up 43 and 37 fantasy points respectively. There are a lot of cheap power forwards to consider (more on that later), but Williams carries the most upside of that group, thus standing as more of a priority on FanDuel.

3 - Cory Joseph – PG – Toronto (FanDuel Price: $3,700)

This play is dependent on the status of Kyle Lowry, who is listed as questionable. If Lowry is out, Joseph becomes a clear-cut value selection. If Lowry is in, Joseph can still be viewed as a value filler, but we obviously would have less confidence in him as a “building block” for lineups. Keep an eye on Lowry’s status before making a final determination on Joseph or another value point guard (Cole, Clarkson, etc).

4 - Arron Afflalo – SG – New York (FanDuel Price: $5,000)

The absence of Carmelo Anthony means good things for Afflalo’s DFS prospects as well. He’ll likely take more shots with Carmelo sidelined, which raises his floor/ceiling combination. Afflalo has been a spotty performer as of late, but I don’t believe he’ll hurt your lineups tonight. The shooting guard position doesn’t have much to offer in the value department, as Affalo makes for a nice SG2 filler with a heightened role.

5 - Omri Casspi – SF – Sacramento (FanDuel Price: $5,200)

Rudy Gay will miss another game tonight, meaning Omri Casspi should start and see solidified minutes around 30-35. It helps that this is a very high scoring matchup against New Orleans’ all-around bad defense. Casspi is a nice SF2 value on FanDuel to finish off your lineups.

ALSO CONSIDER

Willie Cauley-Stein – PF – Sacramento (FanDuel Price: $4,500)

Cauley-Stein has been seeing more minutes as of late, holding steady around 30-36 every game, averaging 29 FPPG over the past five. He’s a reasonable pivot away from Derrick Williams, as they hold similar overall projections tonight. We are slightly preferring D-Will when choosing between the two, but if the extra $400 makes or breaks your lineup, Cauley-Stein in a better matchup makes for a parallel alternative.

Jordan Clarkson – PG – LA Lakers (FanDuel Price: $5,700)

Kobe Bryant is in, but Lou Williams is out tonight against Chicago. This means Clarkson could see some added backcourt responsibilities, and he’s a fine value filler on FanDuel. We are mostly interested in Clarkson if the situation surrounding Cory Joseph doesn’t work out, wherein the Lakers point guard would have a much higher overall projection.
