FanDuel NBA Bargains: Friday

by Spencer Limbach

When looking at bargains on FanDuel, typically we’ll focus on players who are priced at $6,000 or lower. I’ll be ranking these picks by priority to your lineups for tonight’s nine-game slate starting at 7:00 ET.

Just a quick note that these player picks were organized early in the day. For the NBA, there is usually a plethora of news trickling out through the afternoon, which could open up some more value plays. Be sure to keep posted with the NBA Headlines & Injuries section, as the wonderful contributors over there will break down the DFS consequences of every piece of news.

Now onto the bargain plays.

1 – Lance Stephenson – SF – Indiana (FanDuel Price: $5,800)

Victor Oladipo will miss his third straight game tonight, while Lance Stephenson is averaging 34 minutes and 30 FPPG in the previous two without him. He’ll see plenty of usage and playing time to satisfy this mid-range salary, and the matchup at Chicago (24th vs SFs, 26th in team d-eff) adds more confidence to this equation.

2 – Thaddeus Young – PF – Indiana (FanDuel Price: $5,700)

Victor Oladipo’s absence also helps Thaddeus Young. The Indiana forward has been disappointing over the past few weeks, but that creates an excellent buy-low opportunity with a chance at more usage. A competitive draw with Chicago, who ranks 28th vs PFs and 20th in rebound rate, certainly helps the cause.

3 – Andre Roberson – SG – Oklahoma City (FanDuel Price: $4,300)

Paul George has been ruled out tonight, meaning Andre Roberson should see a larger workload. George missed two games earlier this month, where Roberson averaged 36 minutes and 26 fantasy points. We’ll consider that a healthy baseline for tonight’s meeting vs Milwaukee, which is more than enough to pay off this bargain salary.

4 – Jordan Bell – PF – Golden State (FanDuel Price: $4,900)

This may seem somewhat strange, but Jordan Bell has actually been better with Draymond Green back in the mix. Bell is averaging 32 FPPG and 24 minutes over the past four with Draymond back compared to 24 FPPG and 25 minutes over the previous four with Green out. It’s clear that Bell has benefitted from more usage and easier matchups off the bench, something that could continue against a Charlotte team that ranks 20th in defensive efficiency vs opposing power forwards and 24th vs opposing bench players.

5 – Wayne Ellington – SG – Miami (FanDuel Price: $4,600)

Miami will continue to be shorthanded with James Johnson and Dion Waiters out. On top of that, Goran Dragic has seen his minutes reduced while playing through an elbow injury. That leaves the door open for Ellington to soak up 34-36+ minutes in the Miami backcourt. Ellington has produced 32+ FP in two of his past three games within that role, and tonight’s matchup vs Brooklyn (27th vs SGs, 4th in pace) looks great.

There are a few more bargains worth noting at power forward:

1) Dirk Nowtizki ($5500) has been on a roll as of late with 33+ FP in each of his past three games. There’s some risk while facing New Orleans’ frontline of Cousins-Davis, but playing up in pace in this high-scoring draw makes him an intriguing option.

2) Kyle Kuzma is questionable for the Lakers. If he’s out, Larry Nance ($4400) could see minutes in the high 20’s, making for a solid DFS bargain. Nance has always been a solid FP/minute producer, and a clear path to minutes would legitimize his DFS potential.

3) If Chris Paul is out, Ryan Anderson ($4200) would see enough minutes and shot opportunities to be worth a look. If Chris Paul ends up playing, I’ll likely ignore Anderson despite the cheap salary.
