FanDuel NBA Bargains Wednesday

When looking at bargains on FanDuel, typically we’ll focus on players who are priced at $6,000 or lower. I’ll be ranking these picks by priority to your lineups for tonight’s 11-game slate starting at 7:30 ET.

Just a quick note that these player picks were organized early in the day. For the NBA, there is usually a plethora of news trickling out through the afternoon, which could open up some more value plays. Be sure to keep posted with the NBA Headlines & Injuries section, as the wonderful contributors over there will break down the DFS consequences of every piece of news.

Now onto the bargain plays.

1 – Taj Gibson – PF – Minnesota (FanDuel Price: $4,800)

Gibson makes for an easy and likely popular bargain lift on FanDuel. At this salary, you only need 25 fantasy points for him to hit value. That represents his seasonal average, meaning Gibson would represent a fine option if he posts a typical, Taj Gibson-like stat line. Here’s where things get good: Gibson will likely see more than his usual allotment of minutes, having totaled 36 and 39 minutes respectively in the past two games. He’s getting more playing time with Gorgui Dieng sidelined, and that will likely be the case again tonight (Dieng listed as doubtful). Gibson has notched 31+ FP in four of his past six games. I believe he’ll get there again considering the extended minutes.

2 – Jordan Clarkson – SG – LA Lakers (FanDuel Price: $4,200)

Clarkson flopped a few times last week, leaving his salary suppressed on FanDuel. Those uninspiring performances came in tricky matchups at Milwaukee and Washington, while Clarkson bounced-back nicely for 36 FP in 26 minutes at Phoenix on Monday. Tonight’s draw vs Philadelphia (20th vs opposing backcourt members) represents an unimposing matchup with plenty of fantasy potential as one of the highest over/unders on the board (218).

3 – Derrick Favors – PF – Utah (FanDuel Price: $6,000)

Favors’ salary has slightly risen, but I believe he’s a safe cash game commodity on tonight’s slate. The Utah forward will continue to see more frontcourt responsibilities with Rudy Gobert sidelined for a while. The matchup at NYK doesn’t look great on paper, but Favors’ ascending usage and rebound rate more than makes up for it.

4 – OG Anunoby – SF – Toronto (FanDuel Price: $3,200)

Norman Powell is questionable tonight, and his status will ultimately determine OG Anunoby’s fantasy viability. If Powell is out, Anunoby will look to start his second consecutive game. The rookie posted a satisfying performance with 23 FP in 29 minutes at Houston last night. His counterpart, CJ Miles, ended up out-producing him with 32 FP in 16 minutes. Having said that, I would side with Anunoby and the more secure playing time when deciding between these two value prospects. A starting role with 30 minutes should be enough to lead Anunoby to value while playing up in pace at New Orleans (24th vs SFs) if Powell misses this game.

5 – Iman Shumpert – SG – Cleveland (FanDuel Price: $3,200)

All of the aforementioned picks can be used confidently in cash games (assuming the injury news breaks in their favor). Shumpert doesn’t necessarily fall into that category despite looking at another start with Derrick Rose doubtful. The Cleveland wing minutes have been difficult to predict, with Shumpert, Korver, and Jeff Green trading respectable performances sans Rose. It seems the “hot hand approach” is in play here. Shumpert logged 32 and 37 minutes respectively (19 and 24 FP) in the first two games of Rose’s absence. If he gets back to that playing time, then he’ll represent a fine bargain for near-minimum salary. However, be aware of the uncertainty in that “if, then” statement.

If you are looking for a more secure cash game bargain at shooting guard, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope ($4900) represents a fine alternative to Iman Shumpert. You’ll have to pay considerably more for that piece of mind, but KCP checks in as a solid value with heavy playing time in a non-imposing matchup vs Philly.

Mike Conley is listed as questionable tonight. If he’s ruled out, Mario Chalmers ($3600) becomes one of the best value plays on the board. Chalmers has proven himself as a valuable DFS asset when the minutes correspond, so keep your eye on any updates through the afternoon.

Another injury situation to monitor: Carmelo Anthony is listed as questionable vs Chicago. If he’s out, Jerami Grant ($4700) becomes a confident DFS acquisition while seeing full-time minutes. Grant saw 34 minutes in Carmelo’s absence last game, racking up 28 FP vs Dallas. I’d pair Gibson and Grant as a confident value duo at power forward if Anthony misses his second-straight game.
