FanDuel NBA Plays: Thursday

I’m here to break down tonight’s five-game FanDuel NBA slate starting at 7:00 ET. Keep in mind that this column was created earlier in the day, meaning injury information could change the fantasy landscape throughout the afternoon. Obviously you’ll want to keep track of any developments through Rotoworld’s NBA Headlines & Injuries Feed as we move closer to tip-off.

With that, let’s dive into each position while mining for the best value and overall plays in this slate.

Tyus Jones – Minnesota (FanDuel Price: $3,600)

Jeff Teague sustained a knee injury towards the end of yesterday’s game vs Denver, and it sounds like he’ll be sidelined for a while. Tyus Jones should see starter-minutes in the wake of this news. He took over for Teague through a four game stretch in late November, averaging 38 minutes and 39 fantasy points per contest. That’s a realistic baseline moving forward, and Jones should easily pay off this near-minimum salary.

Also Consider: Ish Smith, Eric Bledsoe, Elfrid Payton

Eric Gordon – Houston (FanDuel Price: $5,800)

Chris Paul has been ruled out for a third straight game, meaning Eric Gordon could push for 38-40 minutes with more shot attempts. The matchup isn’t great against a sound Boston defense, but Gordon profiles as an underpriced fantasy commodity with an expanded workload. He can be shooting dependent at times, but EG should see plenty of opportunities to provide a solid fantasy score.

Also Consider: James Harden, Andrew Wiggins, Khris Middleton

Stanley Johnson – Detroit (FanDuel Price: $4,000)

Stanley Johnson has been known as a low FP/minute producer this season. That hasn’t exactly changed, but I believe Johnson can provide adequate fantasy value around 20 FP tonight. He’s looking at 30+ minutes and more usage with Avery Bradley and Reggie Jackson sidelined. Stanley is averaging a solid 23 FPPG over his past five, and he’s playing up in pace against an Orlando team that ranks 29th vs opposing small forwards.

Also Consider: Jimmy Butler, Trevor Ariza, PJ Tucker

Tobias Harris – Detroit (FanDuel Price: $7,400)

I’m buying into Tobias Harris’ recent surge of 78 fantasy points over 70 minutes total in the past two games. There’s an opportunity for him to see more usage with Avery Bradley and Reggie Jackson sidelined. On top of that, this matchup looks great against an Orlando team that ranks seventh in pace and 24th in defensive efficiency vs opposing power forwards. Harris checks in as a quality upper-mid-range target through all formats on FanDuel.

Also Consider: Jayson Tatum, Taj Gibson

Karl-Anthony Towns – Minnesota (FanDuel Price: $10,000)

There’s enough value on this slate to roster both James Harden and Karl-Anthony Towns comfortably in a strong cash lineup. I’m recommending that strategy, especially the latter piece. Towns is looking at a mouthwatering matchup against a Milwaukee team that ranks dead last in defensive efficiency vs centers and dead last in rebound rate. There’s some room for concern with Minnesota coming off an overtime game last night, but the excellent matchup potential offsets that.

Also Consider: Al Horford, Bismack Biyombo
