I’m here to break down tonight’s eight-game FanDuel NBA slate starting at 7:00 ET. Keep in mind that this column was created earlier in the day, meaning injury information could change the fantasy landscape throughout the afternoon. Obviously you’ll want to keep track of any developments through Rotoworld’s NBA Headlines & Injuries Feed as we move closer to tip-off.
With that, let’s dive into each position while mining for the best value and overall plays in this slate.
Elfrid Payton – Orlando (FanDuel Price: $7,300)
Nikola Vucevic has been ruled out tonight while Aaron Gordon and Evan Fournier are questionable. If all of them end up sidelined, Elfrid Payton becomes a very intriguing daily fantasy selection. That was the case on Saturday at Washington, where Vucevic left after playing five minutes. Payton took command of Orlando’s offense, racking up 30 points, 10 assists, and five boards (63 fantasy points). The matchup doesn’t look great at Miami tonight, but Payton could see a ton of usage if the Magic remain shorthanded.
Donovan Mitchell – Utah (FanDuel Price: $7,200)
Mitchell has been somewhat up-and-down over the past week, battling an injury along the way. He came back to pour in 40 fantasy points vs Oklahoma City on Saturday, a comforting sign that the injury woes are behind him. Mitchell has had three more days to rest up, preparing for tonight’s promising matchup against a Denver team that ranks 26th in defensive efficiency vs opposing backcourt members.
Giannis Antetokounmpo – Milwaukee (FanDuel Price: $11,800)
There’s enough value to comfortably roster Giannis Antetokounmpo on FanDuel tonight. That seems like a pretty good strategy considering the matchup potential: Chicago ranks 25th in defensive efficiency vs opposing small forwards and 28th in team d-eff. Giannis was held out of Saturday’s game with knee soreness, but he’s listed as probable this evening. Go ahead and fire him up with confidence!
Derrick Favors – Utah (FanDuel Price: $5,600)
Favors has been “just okay” over the past few games with Rudy Gobert sidelined. The minutes have been more solidified with a heightened role in Utah’s frontcourt, so the corresponding fantasy production should follow soon. A competitive draw at Denver could be the perfect landing spot to get Favors going. After all, he posted 53 fantasy points in 32 minutes against the Nuggets nearly a month ago.
Bismack Biyombo – Orlando (FanDuel Price: $4,400)
As mentioned earlier, Nikola Vucevic has been ruled out tonight. That means Bismack Biyombo should slide into the starting lineup while looking at 30+ minutes. While Biyombo doesn’t offer much from an offensive standpoint, he should gather enough rebounds, blocks, and putbacks to scrape fantasy value from this economical price point. He's a solid bargain commodity through all formats.
