What is up everyone! I hope you guys are enjoying the wild football playoffs, but with those going on, what about throwing in some NHL action as well? It is an odd slate tonight, as it begins at five, so here are some picks from this five-game slate for FanDuel.
Corey Crawford - $10,300 – Crawford has a juicy home matchup against a Montreal team that has one line that can hurt you, and Ben Scrivens in net. Crawford has been stellar and should see more goal support tonight, and get an easy win against a Montreal team that was predictably exposed with Price on the shelf.
Petr Mrazek - $8,900 – Mrazek gets a home matchup against the Flyers, and the Flyers come into this one on a back-to-back. Detroit is three lines deep and they play great two-way hockey on all four lines. Look for Mrazek to get the win at home, and he has been phenomenal this year, so even if the game is not as one sided as I expect, Mrazek has a high save percentage and should be fine regardless.
Nicklas Backstrom - $6,700 – Backstrom is an elite center and seems fixated at under 7k. For a guy who puts up a point per game, skates with Ovechkin, and is really safe in the +/- category with a great defense and goalie behind him, there is no reason not to use this guy every night at home at this price.
Patrick Kane - $8,800 – Kane is an absolute lock in my lineups tonight. Facing Montreal who has been exposed without a goalie, this is the perfect matchup. With Toews likely focusing on shutting down the Plekanec line, look for Kane and Panarin to have extremely weak competition and to take advantage as they always do.
Pavel Datsyuk - $6,200 – Datsyuk is not the same fantasy player as in the past. However, he is at home against a weak Flyers team, and he is still the same player talent wise. He sees the minutes and power-play time, and in good matchups we can safely target him, especially at this price point.
Tyler Toffoli - $5,500 – Toffoli has been one of the best fantasy players all year. Despite having 21 goals in 43 games, and 10 points in his last 10, Toffoli has seen his price inexplicably drop. He faces a Ducks team that just hasn’t been able to figure it out this year, and Toffoli has found chemistry with his new center, Anze Kopitar.
Nikita Kucherov - $6,400 – Kucherov is starting to get in a groove like last year. He and Tyler Johnson still have a 55% corsi for when on the ice together, and Kucherov has 11 points in his last 10. He is cheap and facing a Florida team that is overachieving due to unsustainably good goaltending. This is not a team I’d be afraid to target.
Duncan Keith - $5,900 – Keith is a great pick to get exposure to Chicago’s top PP, and offense. Keith has been an offensive force this year, largely in part due to his ice time often overlapping with Kane and Panarin.
Matt Niskanen - $4,400 – Niskanen is on the top PP for Washington. He is too cheap for the upside he provides in this role. John Carlson’s numbers skyrocketed this year in his new found role on the top PP. Look for Niskanen to be like a 6k defenseman while Carlson is out.
