Tonight we have an eight-game slate, with a lot of injury situations to watch for. There are also five teams with implied team totals five or more points higher than their season averages so far this season. Meanwhile, the Warriors' implied team total is 17.5 points lower than their average.
Let’s get into my top tournaments plays for FanDuel and DraftKings for tonight.
Cameron Payne @ New York Knicks
The Bulls are by far my favorite team to target, and I will have two to three of them on every team I make tonight. They are without Kris Dunn, Zach LaVine, and Lauri Markkanen again, and Payne played 31 minutes with them out against Cleveland on Saturday. He had 11 shot attempts and finished with double-digit assists on his way to 27+ fantasy points. As for the matchup, the Knicks rank 18th in defensive efficiency against point guards this season. Payne should get the minutes, and I like his price on both sites tonight.
Will Barton @ Miami Heat
Shooting guard is a little weak tonight, though it’s a position I’m looking to pay up for on FanDuel. Will Barton is someone we want to target when he's playing heavy minutes, and with Gary Harris out, he should see 30+ minutes tonight. Barton drew the start on Saturday against Memphis, and he should start again tonight against the Heat. It’s not the greatest matchup on paper, but we know the shot attempts will be there for him. Barton receives a 2% usage bump and is averaging .96 fantasy points per minute without Harris on the floor this season. His shot attempts also go up 2.2 over 36 minutes with Harris out.
Denzel Valentine @ New York Knicks
Valentine saw the biggest bump with everyone out on Saturday, yet he’s still underpriced for that usage increase tonight. He receives a 5% usage bump and is averaging 1.0 fantasy points per minute with all of those guys off the floor. Valentine played 38 minutes against Cleveland on Saturday and ended up with 20 shot attempts in that game. I don’t expect him to go 8-for-11 from three again, but I do think he puts up 15+ shot attempts. Valentine is one of my favorite plays on the entire slate, and I don’t see myself making a team without him.
LaMarcus Aldridge vs. Golden State Warriors
It’s go time for the Spurs, so they’re going to be playing their studs like Aldridge a lot down the stretch. They’re the seven seed in the West and are only two games up on the nine seed right now. Aldridge has played at least 35 minutes in three of the last four games, and he has at least 20 shot attempts in each of those games. He also has at least 24 actual points in four of the last five. Aldridge is averaging 47.7 in three meetings with the Warriors this season, so we can expect another big game from him against this shorthanded Golden State team.
Marc Gasol @ Brooklyn Nets
Note that Gasol is now questionable to play. Be sure to check the updated news on him throughout the day.
The Nets have been awful against centers this season, and with all the great plays at center tonight, I think Gasol may go overlooked tonight. He’s one of the cheaper top-end centers on the board, even though he has at least 35 fantasy points in eight of the last 10 games. Brooklyn ranks 30th in defensive efficiency against centers this season, and the Nets also allow the most fantasy points per game to opposing centers. Memphis has a 102.8 implied team total, which is the third lowest on the slate, but it’s still four points higher than the team's season average. Gasol has some nice upside here and will be way less owned (if active) than he should be for the matchup.
