As is the case with every NHL Fades, we are going to look at some players who you should think twice about placing in your lineup or who you should avoid using entirely. Remember to check back on this page later in the day for confirmations on starting goalies and keep an eye on Rotoworld’s daily blurbs for all your fantasy hockey needs.

Keep in mind that FanDuel allows you to roster nine players (2C, 4W, 2D, 1G) with a salary cap of $55,000, while DraftKings has a cap of $50,000 for nine players (2C, 3W, 2D, 1G, 1UT).

Editor's Note: Rotoworld’s Season Pass is now available for the low price of $19.99. You get plenty of extra articles including the minor league report, the junior report and much, much more. Buy it now!

Anze Kopitar (LAK) - C - $7,000 (FanDuel), $7,000 (DraftKings)

Kopitar has been quiet lately with one goal and one assist in his last six games. It could be another uneventful outing for him when the Kings host the Golden Knights. Kopitar didn’t have a point in a 4-2 loss to Vegas back on Nov. 19 and he only had one shot on target that night. He has been more productive on home ice this year, but he has scored 12 of his 17 goals on the road.

Nazem Kadri (TOR) - C - $5,600 (FanDuel). $6,300 (DraftKings)

Kadri has gone 10 straight games without a point. He has been getting his chances, but he has been snakebitten on the scoresheet. Kadri is a bit overvalued on DraftKings, but his slump has discounted his price on FanDuel. He has also earned one assist in his last three meetings versus Arizona.

James Neal (VGK) - W - $7,400 (FanDuel), $6,000 (DraftKings)

Neal and Vegas will be playing for the second time in two nights on the road Thursday night. He has notched one goal and one assist in six games with zero days of rest this year. Neal also has just one helper in his past four tilts versus Los Angeles, which includes a performance without a point on Nov. 19.

Max Pacioretty (MTL) - W - $6,600 (FanDuel), $6,100 (DraftKings)

Pacioretty has enjoyed success against Tampa Bay historically, but the way this season has gone for him it’s hard to trust that will continue. The Lightning have been stingy with Andrei Vasilevskiy between the pipes and the Canadiens captain hasn’t the lit the lamp in 10 games. Pacioretty has registered four helpers during that span. He has tallied one goal in his past 19 contests.

Brandon Saad (CHI) - W - $5,600 (FanDuel), $4,900 (DraftKings)

Saad has’t earned a point in four games and he has found the back of the net once in his last nine matches. He has also produced just four goals and seven points in 18 games away from the United Center this season.

Mark Giordano (CGY) - D - $5,900 (FanDuel), $5,300 (DraftKings)

Giordano has been better offensively recently after a sluggish start to the season, but he has failed to hit the scoresheet in four of the past five games. He didn’t have a point in a 3-2 loss to San Jose on Dec. 14 and has picked up just one assist in his last five appearances against the Sharks.

Carey Price (MTL) - G - $8,600 (FanDuel), $7,200 (DraftKings)

This fade is more for FanDuel than DraftKings based on his price tag, but it will be a difficult matchup as well if he receives both starts in Montreal’s back-to-back situation. That would put him back in the crease Thursday night against a tough Tampa Bay offense after he played the night before in a loss to Carolina. The Lightning lead the league with 3.74 goals per game and they have a dominant 15-2-1 record on home ice.
