As is the case with every NHL Fades, we are going to look at some players who you should think twice about placing in your lineup or who you should avoid using entirely. Keep in mind that FanDuel allows you to roster nine players (2C, 4W, 2D, 1G) with a salary cap of $55,000, while DraftKings has a cap of $50,000 for nine players (2C, 3W, 2D, 1G, 1UT).

Max Pacioretty (MTL) - W - $7,300 (FanDuel), $6,500 (DraftKings)
The goals were piling up for Pacioretty in January, but he hasn’t found the back of the net in four games. He has earned an assist in each of the last two contests, but his fantasy point totals were below his season average on both occasions. Pacioretty only had one helper in three matches versus Philadelphia last season. This will be his first appearance against the Flyers in 2017-18.
Jonathan Toews (CHI) - C - $6,800 (FanDuel), $5,600 (DraftKings)
Toews hasn’t scored a goal in 11 games and he has contributed just three assists during that span. He has earned three points in his last five outings, but that kind of production won’t help you produce a winning lineup on Thursday night. Toews has posted just one assist and seven shots in three matches against the Dallas Stars this season.
Joe Pavelski (SJS) - C - $6,800 (FanDuel), $5,500 (DraftKings)
Pavelski has been quiet offensively since losing linemate Joe Thornton to injury. He has registered a mere two helpers in six games with Thornton out of the lineup. Pavelski will also be playing against Vegas, which is not a favorable matchup.
Matthew Tkachuk (CGY) - W - $6,700 (FanDuel), $5,500 (DraftKings)
Tkachuk appears to be slowing down after going two straight games without a point. He had been red hot before he was held off the scoresheet by Chicago in both contests. Tkachuk has not picked up a point in three career matches against New Jersey, which includes a game on Nov. 5 this campaign.
Tyler Johnson (TBL) W - $5,800 (FanDuel), $5,300 (DraftKings)
Johnson hasn’t lit the lamp in 10 consecutive games. He hasn’t earned a point in six outings during that span and he has been held to two shots or less six times. Johnson also has generated just one goal and one assist in eight career appearances against Vancouver.
Duncan Keith (CHI) - D - $5,700 (FanDuel), $4,600 (DraftKings)
Keith hasn’t scored a goal since Mar. 16, 2017. He has gone 53 games without finding the back of the net this season. Keith has collected 25 assists and he has amassed 124 shots, but the goal drought has dominated the headlines and it has limited his fantasy appeal. Keith has posted one assist in three games versus Dallas this year, which doesn’t help matters either.
Ivan Provorov (PHI) - D - $5,300 (FanDuel), $5,300 (DraftKings)
Provorov has one goal in his last 11 games and one assist in the past six. He has cooled off from his hot streak in early January and appears to be in the midst of another dry spell. Provorov has been hot and cold for stretches this season. His only value on Thursday might be in blocks, so there should be better options for your lineups.
Alexander Kerfoot (COL) - C - $4,400 (FanDuel), $,3800 (DraftKings)
Kerfoot has been playing on Colorado’s top line since Nathan MacKinnon was hurt on Jan. 30 against Vancouver. He seems like a bargain at that price based on the opportunity, but he hasn’t earned a point in four games and he hasn’t been credited with a shot in the past two. Kerfoot has two shots total during that four-game stretch.
Martin Jones (SJS) - G - $8,300 (FanDuel), $7,300 (DraftKings)
Jones is a bit overvalued on FanDuel. He has been inconsistent this season and the Golden Knights possess the ability to fill the net. Jones was chased from the crease by Vegas back on Nov. 24 when he allowed three goals on 14 shots in 20:10 of playing time.
Carey Price (MTL) - G - $8,300 (FanDuel), $7,200 (DraftKings)
Price has registered two victories in his last nine starts (2-5-2). He has played well in the past three games, but his only victory came against the 29th-placed Ottawa Senators. Price will face a difficult matchup at Philadelphia on Thursday night. He has gone 4-12-0 with a 3.23 goals-against average and .904 save percentage away from the Bell Centre this year.
