NHL Plays: Saturday

The new game in town is called DRAFT (Draft.com) and the DFS game is something most poolies have grown up on, drafting a team, allowing each participant to take a player with each pick. Unlike the other DFS games, if for instance you draft Connor McDavid in your pool, no one else can take him.

The draft is quick as you are allowed only 30 seconds per pick and you take five players, three forwards, a defenseman and a goalie.

You can use some strategy. Let’s say there are five participants in your pool and you are picking last. If the first four take goaltenders, then pick your goalie in the final round as you are going to get him anyway.

Remember, there are new pools available to play in but the players in my rankings will fall off the table as soon as the puck drops in their respective game.

Familiarize yourself with the rules and enjoy! It’s a great game! On Saturday there are head-to-head drafts with a lot of three player drafts as well as six player and 10 player drafts.

Editor’s Note: Compete in a live snake draft right now! Drafts take as little as 2 minutes to complete and last just one night. For a limited time, DRAFT is giving Rotoworld readers a FREE entry into a real money draft and a Money-Back Guarantee up to $100! Here's the link.

You have to check with Rotoworld to make sure your players are going today and tonight as teams tend to scratch some of their best players in the last game before the playoffs. Ovechkin likely will play as he is trying for his 50th. McDavid will win the scoring title and deserves to be taken first overall. Colorado, St. Louis, Philadelphia and Florida have plenty at stake still and will not rest their players. Lots of good forwards here, so you can wait if you don’t pick early.

Defenseman rankings

  1. Seth Jones
  2. Dustin Byfuglien
  3. P.K. Subban
  4. Brent Burns
  5. Alex Pietrangelo
  6. Tyson Barrie
  7. Roman Josi
  8. Victor Hedman
  9. Shayne Gostisbehere
  10. John Carlson

There are no guarantees here as blueliners do not necessarily score a lot. I would leave the defensemen until last. Jones has been hot of late while Pietrangelo, Barrie and Gostisbehere have a lot to play for. As above, check to see if your draftees are playing.

Goalie Rankings

  1. Frederik Andersen
  2. Roberto Luongo
  3. Brian Elliott
  4. Andrei Vasilevskiy
  5. Anton Khudobin
  6. Connor Hellebuyck
  7. Jonathan Quick
  8. Martin Jones
  9. Marc-Andre Fleury

10. Sergei Bobrovsky

11. Jonathan Bernier

Check out the probable goalies on Rotoworld before starting your draft and especially the blurbs which should tell you the starting netminders. Andersen should have a pretty easy matchup against the Canadiens. Florida needs to win. Elliott returns and the Flyers are in need of a win to clinch a playoff spot.

NHL Plays will look at some players to consider adding while building your lineups. Remember to check back on this page later in the day for confirmations on starting goalies and keep an eye on Rotoworld’s daily blurbs for all your fantasy hockey needs.

Keep in mind that FanDuel allows you to roster nine players (2C, 4W, 2D, 1G) with a salary cap of $55,000, while DraftKings has a cap of $50,000 for nine players (2C, 3W, 2D, 1G, 1UT).

Frederik Andersen G (Toronto) - $8,400 FanDuel, $8,500 DraftKings

Will Butcher D (New Jersey) - $4,100 FanDuel, $4,200 DraftKings

Seth Jones D (Columbus) - $6,000 FanDuel, $6,300 DraftKings

Connor McDavid C (Edmonton) - $9,300 FanDuel, $8,100 DraftKings

Casey Mittelstadt C (Buffalo) - $3,600 FanDuel, $3,300 DraftKings

Clayton Keller W (Arizona) - $6,300 FanDuel, $5,800 DraftKings

William Nylander W (Toronto) - $5,800 FanDuel, $6,500 DraftKings

Kevin Labanc W (San Jose) - $4,200 FanDuel, $3,300 DraftKings

Ty Rattie W (Edmonton) - $3,900 FanDuel, $5,300 DraftKings

Will Butcher has been on fire of late with three goals and nine points in his last eight games. McDavid is the best player in the NHL and Rattie, his linemate, is great value in FanDuel. Mittelstadt scored his first in his career on Friday and is highly regarded. As mentioned earlier, Andersen has a relatively easy matchup against the lowly Canadiens.
