NHL Plays: Tuesday

The new game in town is called DRAFT (Draft.com) and the DFS game is something most poolies have grown up on, drafting a team, allowing each participant to take a player with each pick. Unlike the other DFS games, if for instance you draft Connor McDavid in your pool, no one else can take him.

The draft is quick as you are allowed only 30 seconds per pick and you take five players, three forwards, a defenseman and a goalie.

You can use some strategy. Let’s say there are five participants in your pool and you are picking last. If the first four take goaltenders, then pick your goalie in the final round as you are going to get him anyway.

Remember, there are new pools available to play in but the players in my rankings will fall off the table as soon as the puck drops in their respective game.

Familiarize yourself with the rules and enjoy! It’s a great game! On Sunday there are head-to-head drafts with a lot of three player drafts as.

Forward Rankings

-        Taylor Hall

-        Tyler Seguin

-        Claude Giroux

-        Nikita Kucherov

-        Artemi Panarin

-        Jonathan Marchessault

-        William Karlsson

-        John Tavares

-        Johnny Gaudreau

-        Blake Wheeler

-        Jamie Benn

-        Vincent Trocheck

-        Alexander Radulov

-        Cam Atkinson

-        Brendan Gallagher

-        Sean Couturier

-        Brad Marchand

-        Patrice Bergeron

-        Blake Coleman

-        David Pastrnak

-        Filip Forsberg

I couldn’t justify putting them on the list, but I’d absolutely consider taking either of the Sedin twins.  They announced their retirement and this is their second last game in Vancouver.  I like their chances of having a big night better on Thursday against Arizona, but I still think they should come out strong tonight against Vegas.

Defenseman Rankings

-        Brent Burns

-        Seth Jones

-        Victor Hedman

-        PK Subban

-        John Klingberg

-        Alexander Edler

-        Dougie Hamilton

-        Mark Giordano

-        Oliver Ekman-Larsson

-        Roman Josi

-        Torey Krug

-        Colin Miller

I wanted Jones a bit higher than I might have otherwise because Detroit tends to be a pretty easy opponent, but it is worth noting that the Red Wings have been pretty strong lately.  They’ve won three straight games and are coming off a 2-0 win over Ottawa.  I don’t expect the Red Wings to maintain their recent string of success, but some might want to discount Jones just in case.

Goalie Rankings

-        Sergei Bobrovsky

-        Antti Raanta

-        Connor Hellebuyck

-        Martin Jones

-        Pekka Rinne

-        Marc-Andre Fleury

-        Carey Price

Again, I’m betting on the Red Wings not maintaining their recent success, but some might shy away from Bobrovsky just in case.  Beyond that, note that Raanta has been one of the league’s top goaltenders since Jan. 1.  Dating back to the start of the year, Raanta has a 1.87 GAA and .940 save percentage in 25 games.

As always, please double check the probable goaltenders list before making any decisions.
